Having provided my family history, my biopsy history and the fact that I have notably fair complexion , I would expect a derm to at least take a close look at my skin. This doctor took MAYBE 1 min to look over my entire body, not inspecting a single mole, and proclaimed my skin to be perfect. Show up 15 minutes early, after a 45 minute drive, to be told the doctor they scheduled me with does not participate in my insurance. No, no one else can see me today....can I come back next week? So here I am, one week and another 45 minute drive later, sitting in the waiting room at 9AM when I had an 8:30AM appointment. If they're running behind at 8:30 in the morning, I can't imagine how long one waits for an afternoon appointment! I got in to see the PA at 9:05. She was very thorough, explained everything, so I'm very satisfied with the actual care given. But it is now noon, and my pharmacy still has not received my prescriptions. I called and was told it should be "by the end of the day." All in all, a pretty frustrating experience. Not sure if I'll subject myself to this again next year.

I feel like this is stitching 101 in medical school. I know there are very few rare instances where the scalp can't be stitched together, but by and large, it's not only possibly but COMMONLY DONE so that the scalp is brought together again so hair can grow unhindered. Now there's permanent irreparable damage done and there's nobody to answer to because it's not severe enough of a deformity to warrant a medical malpractice lawsuit, but believe me I explored that option. Do yourself a favor and STEER FAR AND CLEAR from Upstate Dermatology for EVERYTHING other than simple, standard, common issues that their staff can handle. Seriously, I would be suing if I could. No-one had poked their head into the room even once to apologize for or explain the delay. That was already a delay of FORTY minutes early in the day, at 10:00. When I opened the door of the room I was in, there was the doc sitting at a desk doing paper work. If this were my practice, I would, first, have kept me informed about the delay, and, having totally failed at that, I would have called me, the patient, when I'd arrived home to apologize and say that maybe we could reschedule. But, NO, NOTHING. Nothing except billing my insurance company for an appointment that ended up not happening. These people are among the rudest I've ever encountered. They care not a whit about the patients, only about the money.

Sounds simple, but this means joint pain from psoriatic arthritis, digestive issues cos IBS, etc. It's an injection that treats a host of issues and it's Very Necessary. Medicare denied it. Unbeknownst to me my Dr got it approved May 7th. No one told me. My appt on the 3rd was missed because I was unable to get transportation. I was dressed and waiting, but nobody showed. I thought I needed this appt to get my meds handled cos insurance. I rescheduled for two weeks out, but when I called to reschedule, I wasn't at any point allowed to speak to a human. Remember, at this point as far as I know, I can't get my meds because insurance. I finally get to the Dr last week and they tell me they can't release my medication cos they need a TB test first. Not once in the more than a month prior to this did anyone mention I needed this TB test. No one told me insurance had approved my meds 4 wks earlier. Every time I tried to contact Schweiger Dermatology, I ended up talking to a robot, both via phone call and text. Missing my medication means it may not work as effectively once I restart it. This was an absolute failure on the part of the Drs office as a result of leaning on non-human workforce. Any human looking at my chart could have seen the test was required, that I'd missed it, that I have memory issues, and a simple phone call would have saved me weeks of absolute misery.

I was seen quickly, which is great, as is there anything more tedious than waiting for an appointment? I found the assisting nurse to be very friendly and thoughtful. She anticipated questions I might have about the process and explained what the PA would be doing before I saw the PA which was helpful and calming for me. The PA was effective and professional. I wouldn't say she had a friendly "bedside" manner, but not everyone needs to have that affect. She didn't make me feel uncomfortable and she wasn't cold. This practice has the PA/doctor do the scan while the assisting nurse takes photos (with permission) with an iPad. The whole thing was done very quickly, but I did not feel it was rushed. I also had a mole on my earlobe removed. This was painless, over in a moment, and it healed well. Overall, I was satisfied with the care I received and scheduled my followup at the same practice.
