Ribeye steak, baked potatoe, cowboy bean and dinner roll
    Michelle N.

Never thought a diner at a gas station would be good but it was!! I ordered their grass-fed never frozen rib eye special with a huge loaded shredded chicken baked potato, cowboy beans and dinner roll. The boys ordered their fried cat fish. Their sign at the front door says "if you leave hungry, it's your own fault" and they weren't kidding! The portion was a lot! The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned well and very tasty! I think it was a 14 oz steak and I finished it all! You can totally tell the cook have passion for cooking every dish as he was signing along with the music they played. The waitress and the rest of their staff was super friendly and very attentive. Will definitely come back here next time.

Wife loved the deep fried corn on the cob!

The Service was Very Good! The food was excellent! A couple stand outs were the cowboy beans (maybe the best ever), the deep fried corn on the cob (a serious treat!), the catfish was excellent! That is a fair start! The food was Plenty! Small plperfect place for us! Nothing fancy, no dress code but awesome service and better food! Well worth the driving distance and would sure do it again!

Very good food. The hamburger was two inches thick. I had the special, smothered pork chops. The chef was fun!!

I got a tray with a pulled pork sandwich, cowboy beans, and coleslaw. The pork was very flavorful with just enough smoke for my tastes, and it went well with the barbecue sauce it came with. I was also impressed with the cowboy beans. Typically, I do not care for beans cooked with beef, but these had a good balance between the two. It also had different varieties of beans that I appreciated. It was savory and filled me up. Lastly, the coleslaw was also good but nothing to write home about. My lunch left me satisfied without being stuffed, which is often an issue I have with barbecue. The only complaint I could see with this meal is portion sizes. While it was a comfortable serving size for myself, I could see others finding the amount of meat given too little for their money and stomachs. Even with the sides, I considered this meal to be lighter than most barbecue I have had. After this experience, I cannot wait for a chance to have a meal at the actual restaurant.

We laughed at an adorable cat, that has been hanging around the restaurant. A group of young guys were loving on the cat. It was nice to see. They gently shooed him off the table when their food arrived. Our food arrived and wow! The brisket was moist and tasty. Great fried green tomatoes and the grits were yummy. My mother's ribs were delish. She raved about the slaw and the greens. We intend to support this excellent mom and pop establishment. The folks there know what they are doing, and they do it with a smile and a heart!

One evening, we decided to try a local place, Kelly's Homestead Restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We walked in and found the restaurant fairly busy. After waiting at the entrance, the host simply asked, "How many?" then grabbed menus and walked off toward a booth without saying "Follow me" or offering any kind of welcome. She tossed the menus on the table and walked away--no greeting, no "Your server will be right with you," nothing. We sat for 15 minutes without a single server acknowledging us or taking a drink order. Looking around, we noticed other tables had drinks, but hardly anyone seemed to be having their orders taken. Eventually, we left and headed to Cracker Barrel, where both the service and the food were fantastic. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Kelly's Homestead Restaurant.
