I recently got to try Buck's through a catered lunch at work, and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delivered hot and made the meeting room smell delicious. I got a tray with a pulled pork sandwich, cowboy beans, and coleslaw. The pork was very flavorful with just enough smoke for my tastes, and it went well with the barbecue sauce it came with. I was also impressed with the cowboy beans. Typically, I do not care for beans cooked with beef, but these had a good balance between the two. It also had different varieties of beans that I appreciated. It was savory and filled me up. Lastly, the coleslaw was also good but nothing to write home about. My lunch left me satisfied without being stuffed, which is often an issue I have with barbecue. The only complaint I could see with this meal is portion sizes. While it was a comfortable serving size for myself, I could see others finding the amount of meat given too little for their money and stomachs. I loved this spot! We stopped for a lovely lunch. The menu hangs on the wall and you place your order. You get a number, find your table. Our drinks came to the table, as we chatted. We laughed at an adorable cat, that has been hanging around the restaurant. A group of young guys were loving on the cat. It was nice to see. They gently shooed him off the table when their food arrived. Our food arrived and wow! The brisket was moist and tasty. Great fried green tomatoes and the grits were yummy. My mother's ribs were delish. She raved about the slaw and the greens. We intend to support this excellent mom and pop establishment. I think it might've gaven me food poisoning. Ouch. Nice service, the food came fast. My stomach is still hurting, but it was worth it.

This reminds me of that really nice place down in Valdosta. That place was bigger, but this place is still pretty good. My sweetie got brisket and pulled pork, and they were both pretty tasty. French fries were nice and crunchy. Serving size was good and satisfying without being overwhelming. My oldest (16) is the food was great. She had a tenderloin sandwich. She didn't get a side but wishes she did. She says the sandwich was great. Second oldest (12) got a brisket sandwich, seems to have really really loved the barbecue sauce here. Says the sandwich was very delicious. And she says she put the barbecue sauce on it and that made it even tastier. Like she thought it couldn't get any tastier, but it's still good. Third one (6) still doesn't have a review but she's working on it. She says the mac & cheese was good. She was OK with the cowboy beans, but I think it was too savory for her. My youngest (4) says "it's so yummy, I love it." It's easy to miss, but you would be missing something good. When we started out there was plenty of seating. They took our order right away. They answered any questions we had. They're fun. They handled the kids well. It's a cute local thing with some giant pictures on the wall of the celebrities who've been through. It's right next to that Simon Kenton memorial bridge. if we come through here again, I'd love to stop and have another bite to eat. Excellent smoked wings! These were very well seasoned, fall off the bone, and extremely large wings. The tater tots were perfectly crispy and the servers checked in several times to see if they could get us anything else. I'd also add that this place has a wall dedicated to some of Maysville's greatest successful individuals. Highly recommended! read more

Bucks Grill is a quaint little local diner in the heart of Downtown Maysville Kentucky. Plenty of parking and a great atmosphere make this place an easy choice for dinner. The collard greens are tender and well seasoned. The sauce is homemade with a bit of a kick. The meat is hot, tender, and juicy. The 2 meat meal with 2 sides was $13!!! And this is December 2023 right now!!! All sandwiches were under $10 and they had a dozen or so smoked chicken wings for about 12 bucks. CrAzZzy good ribs. CrazZzier good pork and brisket. Fries are crisp and a generous portion as are the meats. Maybe the mac could be creamier, cheesier and thicker is my only suggestion. Cheesecake is homemade and super creamy with a sour cream topping that is big enough to share if you are willing. Nope. Sweet tea is sweet as it should be. Buck's Grill has great barbecue. I had the 3 meet platter and it was as good as what I had at most places in Texas. Interior is a fun design, including six shooters for the entry door handles. Service was good and prices were reasonable. Will definitely add it to my regular list of places in Maysville. Took a guest with me who commented it is better than City Barbecue, so that is a good comparison. read more

I expected better. Today was SUCH a disappointment! Waited 10 minutes to even be acknowledged to pick up a to-go order that was READY and on the counter. Of course, my food was cold, but what was worse was the old, hard, tough piece of what was supposed to be chicken breast! More like shoe leather or jerky. Couldn't even bite through it! Even the shoo-fly salad was lacking all its usual ingredients (no corn). I generally have liked the food here, but today's experience would certainly not bring me back. Best par ? Was craving barbecue, so decided to chick this place out since it's closer to home than most places . The restaurant was very clean , nicely decorated and loved when you opened the main door how it made sounds ! The food was great .. husband had 1/2 rack of ribs , potato salad ( a little too much mustard for my taste) coleslaw had good flavor ! I ordered the 3 cheese Mac and cheese ,, I'm not a fan of Mac and cheese but this was good. I ordered the coleslaw also , I ordered the The Brisket Sandwich,,, great flavor ! The only thing I would have liked more , was a bigger thicker sandwich . We had rolled into Maysville on our first post-pandemic trip. Really hungry and one of the locals had mentioned in passing how good this place is. So we figured we'd give it a try. It was really good my wife and I both got the brisket sandwiches and I got macaroni and cheese and tater tots as my sides. My wife got the andoui grits with hers as well as the bean salad. Interesting place. The owner smokes his own meat out front and is sold inside a small cafe setting that also sells crafts. With that out of the way, let's get to the meat. Not good. We sampled their brisket and a half rack of ribs on a Saturday afternoon. The brisket sandwich, two thin slices of fatty brisket on a bun for $5 is not worth $5. I say fatty not to discourage, for fat is good in this case and added a nice flavor to the smokiness, but again, not worth the money. There was a slight witness of smoke ring on the meat but not much. The ribs had an okay dry rub on them. Use the house made BBQ sauce on the table to make them wet. You know that taste and texture of leftover meat, from a day or possibly two days after the cook? That's what I had, for $9. Plus, they still had the membrane on them. Do you HAVE to take the membrane off before cooking any type of ribs? Not really. Does it show unprofessional if an establishment doesn't do it? Very. Drinks are cans and bottles only-Pepsi and Coke products. No alcohol. They also have a cake (Red Velvet when I was there) on the counter and misc. desserts in a case under the register, including transparent tarts. Either a labor of love or experience, or both, is definitely missing here. It's a shame for Maysville, KY has no other options for smoked meat and if this grill could better it's daily quality, quantity and then reevaluate pricing based on such it might be a BBQ destination. read more

We stopped by this restaurant after driving by several times on a tour of Maysville. The food was delicious I had the beef brisket sandwich, collard greens and shew fly salad and loved it all! I also tried the country ham and it was good also. We had a group of 13 come in on a Saturday afternoon which is usually not busy and we were a little nervous that there was one woman running the cash register and the kitchen. But, she did an amazing job we got our food quickly and she took care of all of our needs! This is a great cute little restaurant and I highly recommend it. Fantastic!! I'm all about Mom and Pop!! My son and I split the brisket and a pulled pork sandwich, both with great flavor. Shew fly salad was yummy!! They also had my grandmother's transparent pie, just as I remembered. Brad and his wife own and operate. Seems like good people!!
