I was visiting our family in Burbank and broke a tooth Sunday morning and feared that it would get worse or infected. I found Dr. Maz online and called. Want to hear about the most memorable Saturday night I have had in a while? Nobody wants a root canal. And nobody wants it on a Saturday night. Unless you were in the amount of pain I was in. Yep, I am that person. I chipped one of my back molars and didn't do anything for months. Painful once in a while- nothing I can't handle. Painful with some hot or cold foods- no problem, I got it. Then one day I made a light bite onto a piece of soft gum. The pain brought me to my knees! Unfortunately, I work crazy hours Monday through Friday so I didn't have a chance to make it to a dentist. Then I took a long flight this week and the pain became constant. I finished a small bottle of ibuprofen in just a few days. Couldn't sleep. On a 1-10 scale, it was a 28. It was bad! (And I can take a lot of pain) So luckily, I know someone who sends me to Dr. Maz. I call his number on a Saturday and leave a voicemail. I get a call back shortly after and it's not his secretary or a machine... it's him. He calls me and asks me a few questions. He told me the pain was likely worsened by the flight and that he can see me that same day. He moved around his schedule to attend to me! So here comes 8pm. There was no one in the office but him and he helps me get signed up. He asks short easy questions and the registration process is a cinch. We talk briefly about the financials and although it is not a cheap procedure, I can tell it's going to be worth it and he ensures he will work with me and my insurance. A quick x-ray and sure enough, we confirm, I need a root canal. He shows me the x-ray and explains the 2.5 hour process thoroughly to me and draws it out as well. He urges me to go to a general dentist asap to make sure I don't need to see him again. He explains the actual root canal and all the extra things he is going to do to ensure that there are no problems in the future and he keeps in mind how long it will actually be before I go to the general dentist. His demeanor puts me at ease and he is professional but jokes around with me which helps. He did an AMAZING job numbing me. I barely ever felt the needle. Even during the whole procedure, he checked on me constantly. If I ever even winced at pain he showed genuine concern and asked if I was alright. 2.5 hours later, he finishes and makes sure I am ok. My roommate picks me up and I go home in minimal discomfort. Next morning, almost no pain!!! :) I would recommend Dr. Maz to everybody for his perfect skill, amazing personality, and genuine concern for his patients. No one wants a root canal, but honestly, I am sure this is as good as it gets! read more

If Nobel Peace Prizes could be given out for root canals, Dr. Maz would be the first to get one! I had an insane fear of the dentist all my life, even a routine teeth cleaning would send shivers down my spine! But he somehow made a root canal feel easier than flossing my teeth. I had severe pain in a tooth for a year, tried filling it and nothing worked. I had headaches all the time, jaw pain, couldn't chew on the right side of my mouth, I became a generally miserable human being, etc... After being referred by my dentist, I went in for a consultation and he did an advanced series of tests to see if I needed a root canal. I did, really badly. He was able to do it that day and the relief was tremendous and immediate. There are few and far between Dr. Maz and the other dentists. I was referred to Dr. Maz for my first root canal that was more complex than usual. That sounds extremely serious, painful, and dangerous and I worried a lot about getting it done right, along with lots of other things. Wow! I wish someone told me what I know now: that there was nothing to worry about and that with Dr. Maz I'd be in top professional's hands, get the best care, and that it wouldn't even hurt during or after the treatment. Dr. Maz did an amazing job carefully, quickly, and painlessly. You can easily tell that he has a tons of enthusiasm, passion, and experience in what he does and I'm truly thankful for my dentist referring me to this great specialist. I was further relieved and impressed to see that everything about Dr. Maz, his office, and advanced tools was focused on giving comfortable, painless, and lasting treatment. One can only hope that in the near future regular dentists might also be able to have facilities this advanced, but for now Dr. Maz's office is by far ahead of its time, as you'd want to expect of a root canal specialist. EMERGENCY TRAUMA, ABSOLUTELY IMPECCABLE CARE: Few times in my life have I ever had someone truly come to bat for me in an emergency situation. Dr. Maz did. After a late night altercation trying to do the right thing, I got my front teeth kicked in. Luckily I was able to find Dr. Maz right here on Yelp. At 2:00 am, he woke up from sleeping, reassured me that everything was going to be okay and rushed immediately to the office. Dr. Maz took absolute incredible care of me. This was a real trauma, and Dr. Maz did absolutely everything he could, and he cared. He checked in with me constantly, he reassured me, he 100% cared as if I was his own family member and because of that I knew I was in the best possible hands and I trusted him completely. After dealing with the initial trauma, Dr. Maz said -- we need to find the missing tooth. He quickly drove my girlfriend and I to where the incident happened and the 3 of us searched with flashlights for well over an hour looking for it. I was utterly shocked at his level of care for me, and wanting for me to have the best possible outcome. We couldn't find the tooth unfortunately, and I had a huge fundraiser event the next day -- so we went back to the office, and Dr. Maz worked tirelessly through the night to fabricate temporary teeth for me - and he did it. After he was done (now early morning daylight), he drove me back home. This experience with Dr. Maz is one I will never forget, and will guide me in how to show care if I ever find myself in emergency situations with others. I can't believe that I had a root canal done this very morning. The procedure was painless and went so incredibly smooth I almost forgot it happened! Not only did Dr. Maz preserve the crown I had on that tooth, he was able to make incisions small enough that only a simple filling will be needed for a seal. He was very gentle, he cared about what kind of pain I was in - and if I was, he made sure to numb me more. My journey with him started at 12am one morning when I woke up in excruciating pain from my wisdom tooth. He answered my call even though he was sleeping, and I was able to see him in 30 minutes. I had a root canal done by my regular dentist. Unfortunately I still had pain months later and nobody could understand why. They poked and prodded and came up with nothing. I was referred to Dr. Maz. Up until then I had only had root canal done with sedation and was extremely reluctant to go ahead with that same day, but the pain won and seeing as I had to drive myself home, it was the only option. Dr. Maz examined me and explained that my previous root canal was a good job, but bacteria had infiltrated the gumline and was pecking away at the nerves. He talked me through the procedure and asked me if I was in pain or feeling any discomfort constantly. This was no rush job. I was numbed up and then numbed up some more. As the procedure begun Dr. Maz explained every step as he continued to ask me about my comfort level. The office is comfortable and the atmosphere is light hearted. I went to two well known, well respected endodontist in the Beverly Hills area to get my root canal fixed and save my tooth. No luck! All I have to say is, after Dr. Maz was finished, my tooth was as good as new!!! Right when I walked in his office, I am greeted with a smile from his staff. Great man! Great dentist! Went to Dr. Maz Ebrahimi few times recently to do a root canal, and had the best experience! He was very professional, kind and caring, and he did a great job! Had no pain at all and he was super careful and gentle also, I was a little too relaxed that almost fell asleep in the middle of procedure :).
