Impressive techniques Dr.Maz! I LOVE this office. So courteous and professional! His touch is so gentle. I did not feel 1 ounce of pain, and he gave me anesthesia without epi. I expected to be in a lot of pain from this root canal, but its been about 24 hours and I have not felt any pain. Ive had a root canal from previous dentists, but I would be in agony for 2-3 days. I always cringed at the words, "root canal" and so clearly getting one was not something to which I was looking forward. Having said that, I was very pleasantly surprised at the entire experience. Let me begin with the root canal itself-- it did not hurt at all! I really could not believe it. I kept waiting for the moment of terror, but I really was in no pain during the surgery or after. That was the case even though I was nursing my baby so he had to use a less potent anesthetic. I did not even have to take any pain medication after the procedure. Throughout the entire process, he was very sensitive to me, asking how I was doing and explaining to me as much as I wanted to know. He clearly is very good at what he does and it was very successful as I have been pain free ever since. After that root canal, my dentist told me another one of my teeth may also need a root canal, but he sent me again to Dr. Maz in order to see whether or not I would need one. Dr. Maz took his time testing my tooth on two different occasions in order to thoroughly be sure rather than making a rash decision as he did not want to do a root canal unnecessarily. He decided that I do not need one at this time. I was appreciative of his time, his conservative approach, and his honesty. He was also very gentle, kind, and funny, making for an even more pleasant atmosphere. In addition, his office staff was also wonderful and professional. I normally don't write reviews but I always read other people reviews on Yelp so I decided I would stop being lazy and write a review to help ease the anxiety most feel about root canels and also to highlight Dr. Maz work. I was told that I needed a root canal by my general dentist several months prior to going to see Dr. Maz and I never got it done because of all the horror stories I heard about them. I had it done and honestly like... HONESTLY it was a breeze and didn't hurt at all. Once you're numb which you only feel a small pinch you don't feel anything after that. I was expecting the day after the root canel to be the true test once all the anesthesia wore off but I was perfectly fine the next day. Dr. Maz is not only knowledgable but patient and explained everything to me before hand. It's really frustrating when doctors are so concerned about getting the work done that they fail to explain what is going on but that WAS NOT my experience with Dr. Maz The Office is clean and the staff are professional. Dr. Maz is the best! I went in for a cavity on a tooth where I had root canal performed by a different dentist in San Francisco. I was super worried as I learned the cavity went below the gum line. Dr. Maz was so patient and was very helpful as I asked him a million questions. I knew I was in good hands and booked my procedure to try and save my tooth and he got me in the next day. I showed up the day of my appointment still insanely nervous about losing my tooth but he was so kind and knowledgeable and kept me informed even took several pictures to show me what was going on with my tooth. He was able to save my tooth which was literally a miracle because I had been to someone else in Santa Monica who said it would need to be pulled. The time he gave me to save my tooth was so invaluable as I did not want to pull my tooth. I was referred to Dr.Maz by my primary Dentist for a root canal. I am generally terrified of any dental work, but I had the best experience with this root canal. I did not feel ANY pain at all. The process was very smooth. Dr.Maz and his staff are all very friendly yet professional. When I called to make my appointment, I also gave them my insurance information and when I got to the office, they've already talked to my insurance and told me how much I had to pay out of pocket and this was very convenient. After seeing 4 different doctors with diagnosis ranging from TMJ to sinusitis to TN; I was referred to Dr. Maz. Dr. Maz came to the office after hours, and even borrowed an assistant to make sure that my operation could be done that evening. He took the time to examine carefully and explain everything. When the decision to have a root canal was made, he was very patient with me. He was very generous with the Novocain and kept explaining what was happening during the procedure. He was even able to crack a few jokes during the operation to keep me in good spirits. I have severe dental anxiety, and I felt at ease during the operation. The operation itself hurt much less than having teeth pulled. Really, the worst part was the Novocain injections. After the operation was over and the Novocain wore off, I was still pain free. I am writing this less that 24 hours after the operation, and I can eat again! I can drink a soda with ice again! I can smile again. read more

Professional. Exceptional. Precise. Painless. Accessible. Experienced. Caring. Educated. I was referred to Dr. Maz by my amazing dentist Arthur Glossman. I had sudden worsening pain from an already bad tooth. Dr. Max saw me right away. Evaluated me and gave me options. No pressure into doing a root canal. Decided to wait. The pain got worse and he saw me again the same day. Again, no pressure, he said we would watch it and see. Pain went away for a day and returned again. I called him and we decided together it was time for the procedure. He made himself available on a Saturday for me. He was very reassuring and delicate. The several injections were virtually painless. He took his time and was not rushed. He carefully performed his art and I had no pain. All done in 2 hours. That night I had absolutely NO pain after the numbness wore off. I slept like a baby after 3 days of no sleep. Today I have no pain and I can finally chew using that tooth after 1 year of avoiding it. Great experience and no question I would recommend him to anyone needing Endodontics.
