Great service. Delicious food with care given to presentation. Ambiance provided great energy to start the day. Quaint enough for conversation.

Would totally recommend this place if you're in the mood of a great twist on brunch. This Mediterranean brunch spot has so different than other brunch places in Ottawa, but is so worth trying. The servers were extremely friendly and for us being a group of 6 and the restaurant being full, the food still came out really quickly. The ambiance was nice with beautiful tiles as art work. When it came to the food, it did not disappoint in the slightest. The avocado-halloumi toast was so good, with fresh tomatoes and cucumber on top and the olive drizzle around it gave it a unique but delicious flavour. I'll definitely be back and would 100% recommend trying this place.

We visited Mazarine in the beginning of November. The restaurant is near our apartment, but we never had the chance to dine there before. They are often full and have a wait time of over an hour as they don't take reservations. We decided to try our luck on a Friday, it was around lunchtime and we were seated within 15 minutes. We started off with some coffee. The Turkish coffee and dirty chai latte were both quite caffeinated, which is what you want at brunch time. The Turkish coffee is served in an espresso sized cup. The flavor is very intense and has a strong spice aroma. My boyfriend liked it, but I don't think it would suit everyone's taste. We shared the labneh to start, which was served in ball shaped portions covered in three different herb blends. Despite the seasonings on the outside, the flavor was a bit plain. The shakshuka was delicious. The warm eggs and tomatoes along with the accompanying sourdough bread is perfect on a cold day. We also had the Matane shrimp toast. It is not a typical brunch item and we wanted to try something new. The shrimps were served cold and without much seasoning. I think this dish might have been intended as a healthy menu option or to highlight the unprocessed taste of the ingredients. However, I like my brunch food to be hearty and satisfying. Everything added up to 65$ with tax and tips. Follow for more food content on Insta: @lyliaxfood

Nice place for breakfast or brunch. The Benedict was very nice. I feel like the food is a little thought-out and they take the extra mile.

Outstanding food! It was my first time having a Mediterranean breakfast/brunch and I was not disappointed! The service was impeccable and the food tasted really good! The famous Ashta pancakes are everyone's favorite for a reason! If you are planning to go there on a weekend make sure to plan ahead as there was a long waitlist. But totally worth the wait!!

The place is lovely and cute. Clean decor, attention to details and easy to find. Parking was not a problem because it's a one way street and you can park both ways on the road with a parking meter ticket. Max is 2 hours which is plenty of time for a brunch ! They deal with many local food sellers , their coffee is from happy goat (one of the best) the bread is from bread by us which is honestly one of my favourite! Love how their menu is a fusion between middle eastern and western! We had the avocado toast with Labneh and zatar.. very yummy and filling! But had to try their super fluffy pancake with ashta and rose jam it was great but came cold, was hoping it was warmer! Service is very friendly and nice! Lots of vegetarian options on the menu! Would definitely recommend this place!

Very unique Mediterranean style breakfast with delicious Turkish coffee with coriander spice (expensive but a must try) and shakshuka (delicious!). Run by two sisters and came highly recommended to me and did not disappoint! The only issue is that they don't take rezzos, but if you call the morning of, they will add you to a wait list and let you know when to arrive so that they can try to have a table ready for you to minimize the wait time.

The food was good , the young lady that serviced provided the service for my table was very kind and efficient. The music was good and the vibe was on. The prices were responsible . The menu is limited for food and the chai was amazing.

With their fresh, trendy, and creative dishes, Mazarine should definitely be on your must visit if you're ever exploring Ottawa and in need of a comforting meal that makes a hearty breakfast or delicious brunch, too. Here we have two eggs baked in a special house made spiced tomato sauce and my goodness!! it was such a flavour packed dish with a delicious consistency that left me full for hours. ANNDD let's not forget that sourdough bread that came along with it which I used for mopping up the sauce, adding an extra juiciness and satisfaction to the meal.

It's mid August in year 2019, and this new restaurant just opened. My wife and I went there for brunch. The decor inside is nice, try to get a seat by the window. Right now this restaurant specializes in brunch, and there is a Mediterranean theme. It's a little bit pricey, each breakfast being about $15-$22, but I have to say that everything we had was delicious. The meal started with pita bread, some excellent high-quality olive oil, and zaatar. It was delicious. We ordered the shokshuka (sp?) And the grilled hallumi cheese with watermelon. Both of these dishes were incredibly delicious. The coffee was from happy goat, and they tried to use many local ingredients. Definitely check this place out.

After hearing some recent reviews on a Manotick Facebook group, we decided to give them another shot almost a year later. We used the online ordering system and our order was ready on time for pick up. I ordered the Lamb Souvlaki Platter ($26.95) and added in the comment section that I wanted the meat to be done medium-rare. It came with two skewers. My wife ordered the Keftedes Platter ($22.95), which she heard from others was really good. Each platter came with Greek rice, medallion potatoes, Greek salad and tzatziki sauce. The rice was a little more plain than we would have hoped, but it improved once we squeezed the provided lemon over top of it ourselves. The medallion potatoes had yummy dry seasoning sprinkled on top. Next time we will ask for more of that dry seasoning in the comments in the online ordering system because it was delicious, but not spread very evenly. The Greek salad was fresh and tasty with a good amount of feta and the dressing was packed on the side. The tzatziki sauce was thick and creamy. We also ordered a Pita Bread ($2) to go with everything. Now let's talk about the meat! Wow! We were impressed with both the Lamb Souvlaki and the Keftedes (4 mini meat patties). All the flavours and spices used were perfect, plus the cook on the meat was very memorable. We kept raving about the meat throughout the meal, savouring every bite. We would easily go back again just for how good the meat was! We're also curious now about how they would handle seafood like their Calamari Platter. The food is slightly more expensive than Cozmo's on Greenbank, but the quantity is fair and the quality is excellent for the meat.

The Long Version: I believe I have eaten at La Casablanca before but it was many years ago before I was on Yelp. Most recently I got food from here through the Too Good to Go app. (It's an app to reduce food wastage. Restaurants sell leftover/day-old food at a discounted price on the app. The catch is it's a surprise bag so you don't know what you're going to get.) I was on my way home and was walking by the restaurant and noticed they had a surprise bag for sale on the Too Good to Go app for $9.99 and I decided to buy it. The man prepared my meal by scooping various items in the warming trays into a takeout box. I got some chicken skewers, rice, roasted potatoes, cabbage, and a vegetable stew (which consisted of carrots, potatoes, bell peppers, and broccoli). I seemed to get a few rogue chickpeas too, lol. The food was flavorful and I liked the seasonings on it. I also liked the variety and that I got to try a little bit of different items. I felt it was a satisfactory deal for $9.99. However on the app it did list that the value of the surprise bag was $29.99, which I don't feel is true, lol. For the $10 I paid, I'll rate it as 4 stars. I'd give it half that rating though had I paid $30 for a takeout box of food (mostly vegetables and rice) from warming trays, lol. The restaurant is inside the Byward Market Square building so it's kind of food court-like but each restaurant has its own seating. The vibe is very casual. The man serving me was courteous. A good place for quick casual Moroccan food. Review #233 (2025)

Overall, we were very pleased with everything. We got the Mhajeb (2 pieces for $5.99), Beef Bourak (2 pieces for ($4.99), Chicken Bourak (2 pieces for $4.59), a Chicken Sandwich ($8.29), a Beef Sandwich ($8.99), a Mkabez ($3.25) and a Nest Pastry ($3.39). Mhajeb is an Algerian flatbread. It reminded me a bit of the paratha from India. The Mhajeb was filled with onions and tomatoes. It was slightly chewy and I loved the texture. It had a warm cinnamon/nutmeg element to it. I would definitely order this again. The Bourak were like spring rolls. They were filled with ground meat and cream cheese. I would describe them as a cross between an Asian spring roll and a Greek Tiropita. They were crispy and I enjoyed them. The sandwiches were on a long baguette that reminded me of the bread that is used in Vietnamese Banh Mi. Now both Vietnam and Algeria were once French colonies, so I am not too surprised that they would have sandwiches with French influence. The chicken sandwich had grilled chicken breast kabab pieces in it, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and sauce. The beef sandwich had ground beef kabab pieces in it instead of chicken breast, bit otherwise the sandwiches were similar. I enjoyed them, but I will try other items next time. The heart shaped dessert (Mkabez) had a marzipan filling and the icing was rosewater flavoured. It was very sweet. The nest shaped pastry was vermicelli with ground pistachios inside. It was also very sweet. The desserts were very pretty, but too sweet for my tastes. Service was very friendly. I had lots of questions and the lady answered them all and was very patient. I liked that they labelled which Bourak was chicken and which was beef; they did the same for the sandwich. I also like that the receipt is itemized so you can see how much each item costs and also the names of the items. The restaurant is where Cat's Fish and Chips Used to be. It's in a converted house. There is parking at the front and at the back on their private lot. I would love to return to try some other items. I will also be ordering some more Mhajeb :)

We were happy that we did decide to give this place a try, as it was everything that we had expected, and more! When we walked-in, we were greeted by a young man, that asked if we wanted take-out or dine-in. We chose dine-in however, the restaurant was quite busy at the time so, we had to be seated at a table near the front entrance. Upon sitting, we noticed the iPad that was on the table for ordering. We were also given paper menus to look at, which was easier. Once we had placed our orders, we waited only about ten minutes for our salads to arrive, along with the hummus and pita bread. The salads were absolutely amazing; the bowls were filled to the brim with cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, olives, and feta cheese. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty, and that dressing, WOW; it was delicious! It tied the salad in so well, it was the best salad we had ever tried at a Greek restaurant. The hummus was also delicious, with heated-up pita bread creating the finishing touches. This hummus was definitely homemade, and marvellous! We even asked for an additional pita, as the one we had wasn't enough for the four of us. This appetizer was definitely a great start! Once our main meals arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at how large the portions were. And the homemade sauce on top of the rice was wonderful; I don't know how they made the sauce, but it was perfect with the rice. The chicken was tender, with the tzatziki sauce not being needed often due to the tenderness. The potatoes were huge, and deliciously spiced. The meal was massive, and we couldn't finish it all; definitely worth what we had paid for! Throughout the entire meal, the server checked on us, bringing us water when we had asked, and making sure we were well taken care of. As we were leaving, the owner/chef asked where we were visiting from, and if we enjoyed the food. This place was hands-down the best Greek restaurant that we've ever been to; down to earth family-owned, amazing food, and great hospitality. Will definitely be back, and would recommend that you all try it as well; you won't be disappointed!

Five Stars -- The Best Philly Cheesesteak I've Ever Had…read more I just had the best Philly cheesesteak of my life. I don't say that lightly. From the first bite to the last, it was absolute perfection. The steak was unbelievably tender, sliced thin and piled high, cooked just right so every bite was juicy and full of flavour. The cheese? Melted perfectly into every bite, rich and smooth. And the bun... warm, soft, with just the right hint of crispness. It held everything together like a proper cheesesteak should. And here's the part that shocked me: it was better than any cheesesteak I've ever had in Philadelphia -- and I've had plenty. This one sets a whole new benchmark. Every ingredient tasted fresh, every flavour balanced. No shortcuts. No filler. Just pure, delicious craftsmanship. It's the kind of sandwich that makes you stop mid-bite and appreciate what's happening. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed something this much. If you think you've had a great Philly cheesesteak before, think again -- this one is on another level. I'll be back. Now let's talk about the Onion Rings I got as a side! Simply perfection. Nice and crispy in a very tasty batter. Best in Ottawa, by far! I will definitely be back!

My husband and I came here recently for an early dinner…read more We each had the 2 piece broast chicken combo ($7). Each combo includes fries, coleslaw, garlic sauce and a can of pop (although we never got any garlic sauce, but they gave us 9 packets of ketchup (yipee!), since I love ketchup and garlic sauce is usually fattening anyway, I was happy with just the ketchup). The wait is long because they make everything to order. It was about a 20-25 minute wait. The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with a nice hint of flavour. I feel that the chicken is slightly better here than at Zaki's Broast. Broasted chicken is supposed to be less greasy and oily than fried chicken, but I still found it oily. The best broasted chicken I've ever had was at La Hoyo in Halifax which is now closed :( I'm still looking for chicken like that... The fries here are much better than at Zaki's in my opinion. The fries at Laziz are hand cut and lightly seasoned. The coleslaw here is also amazing. It's the creamy type which I usually don't like but I liked Laziz's coleslaw. The dressing is slightly sweet and they use purple and green cabbage, so it looks really colourful. There's a nice crunch to the coleslaw too. The older man who works here is very nice, but the younger guy was really indifferent towards us. The place is clean enough, as are the washrooms. There's sufficient seating and lots of free parking. It's in the same strip mall as the Mark's, Sushi Kan, and Eclipse Asian Cuisine.
