Stopped for a bite after the Canadian Museum of Nature. Fresh delicious food with fast and personalized service. There were options for vegetarians and vegans as well. I would recommend this spot and come again.

Half grain half greens, chicken, tzatziki, hummus, pico de gallo and some chipotle sauce!!!

Loved this spot. I rate this a must visit. Food was great quality / quantity and the service was amazing. We got in there and they asked if it was our first time. And we said yes so they explained the process and ingredients in depth. In the explanation they told us that everything was house made by their chef. this was clear by the bowl itself. 10/10 recommend!

Huge, jam-packed salad bowl to-go - when it comes to portions, they don't play!

I'm a HUGE fan of the original Barrhaven location, so I was SUPER excited to find out they had expanded to a second restaurant on Elgin! This location is just as good in both quality of food and service. The menu is the same, also LLBO, and food is prepared daily without any weird additives that you might see at other similar restaurants. I am -110% a salad kinda girl, so you know it's gotta be good when I order one. I like the supergreens mix with their meatballs and/or braised meat, but everything is delicious, including the vegetarian options, which, coming from a big meat eater like myself, means a lot. If you're a greedy glutton like me, you can also split your order of protein to have half orders of two different kinds, or pay full price to have full portions of each. All the dips are also great, though I'm partial to the funky feta (because in my world, cheese is life). Can't go wrong with unlimited toppings and dressings, either. I'll tell ya - they really don't skimp on the food they give you, and even if you're just eating a salad and not a wrap, don't worry, it's a generous portion. I ordered a salad and wrap once, but really did not need to with all the food I had, and I'm a big eater! Always fresh, always awesome service from non-judgey staff (like when I say I want everything you can fit in the bowl). It may seem like fast-food, but quality is top notch, still quick, and, frankly, way, way better than the Freshii or Green Rebel chains, in my opinion. Highly recommended!

Great food, super fresh. The environment is nice & clean. My only complaint is value, my bowl came to just under $15 as I had the beef which is a $2 up charge. That did not include a drink of any kind. If you have the money, it's definitely worth eating, but if money is tight you can eat healthy & well elsewhere for less. Not sure if I'll be back based on price alone.

The bowl trend is really everywhere! I stumbled upon this Greek restaurant as I walked along Elgin St. The restaurant is based on an interesting concept combining flavorful Mediterranean cuisine including all the great spreads and the idea of a variety bowl just like you get at the poke / salad places. I was excited to see what this was all about. Atmosphere: 3.5/5 The restaurant is relatively new and located conveniently close to where I was staying. The interior was simple yet trendy and clean. However, it also bothered me that there was no one inside when I visited... but the weather was also quite cold and rainy. Eventually several other customers did arrive for take out Food: 4/5 Delicious and a unique idea of using Mediterranean ingredients to create wraps or bowls! I ended up creating my own bowl including rice / greens as a base, two proteins which came standard - I chose braised lamb and braised beef, unlimited toppings so I ended up choosing everything except for cheese. I especially liked the sweetened onion and beets in the quinoa. I really liked the variety of toppings as it was unlimited. Meat portions were also very generous. I had the tomato and eggplant spread which was I thought was a good combo Service: 4/5 Very patient staff in explaining everything to me; it was also possible to get samples of the spreads before committing to two choices for your bowl Price: 3/5 As expected; good portion size for the price OVerall: 4/5 Overall I enjoyed trying this mediterranean bowl! I love having the choice of two proteins, two spreads and unlimited toppings since variety is what I love most about bowls. Tasty and good portion size - I would recommend coming here to try some other combinations and spreads

Grains and greens with grilled chicken bowl. Thanks to Mary for the guidance in assembling this epic meal. I will be back.

Highly recommended. Very clean and welcoming atmosphere. Staff were very kind.. a special thanks to Mary who guided me through my choices as this was my first time ordering in store. Food was delicious and very fresh. I will be back.

Not very pretty but very tasty!

The Long Version: I believe I have eaten at La Casablanca before but it was many years ago before I was on Yelp. Most recently I got food from here through the Too Good to Go app. (It's an app to reduce food wastage. Restaurants sell leftover/day-old food at a discounted price on the app. The catch is it's a surprise bag so you don't know what you're going to get.) I was on my way home and was walking by the restaurant and noticed they had a surprise bag for sale on the Too Good to Go app for $9.99 and I decided to buy it. The man prepared my meal by scooping various items in the warming trays into a takeout box. I got some chicken skewers, rice, roasted potatoes, cabbage, and a vegetable stew (which consisted of carrots, potatoes, bell peppers, and broccoli). I seemed to get a few rogue chickpeas too, lol. The food was flavorful and I liked the seasonings on it. I also liked the variety and that I got to try a little bit of different items. I felt it was a satisfactory deal for $9.99. However on the app it did list that the value of the surprise bag was $29.99, which I don't feel is true, lol. For the $10 I paid, I'll rate it as 4 stars. I'd give it half that rating though had I paid $30 for a takeout box of food (mostly vegetables and rice) from warming trays, lol. The restaurant is inside the Byward Market Square building so it's kind of food court-like but each restaurant has its own seating. The vibe is very casual. The man serving me was courteous. A good place for quick casual Moroccan food. Review #233 (2025)

Overall, we were very pleased with everything. We got the Mhajeb (2 pieces for $5.99), Beef Bourak (2 pieces for ($4.99), Chicken Bourak (2 pieces for $4.59), a Chicken Sandwich ($8.29), a Beef Sandwich ($8.99), a Mkabez ($3.25) and a Nest Pastry ($3.39). Mhajeb is an Algerian flatbread. It reminded me a bit of the paratha from India. The Mhajeb was filled with onions and tomatoes. It was slightly chewy and I loved the texture. It had a warm cinnamon/nutmeg element to it. I would definitely order this again. The Bourak were like spring rolls. They were filled with ground meat and cream cheese. I would describe them as a cross between an Asian spring roll and a Greek Tiropita. They were crispy and I enjoyed them. The sandwiches were on a long baguette that reminded me of the bread that is used in Vietnamese Banh Mi. Now both Vietnam and Algeria were once French colonies, so I am not too surprised that they would have sandwiches with French influence. The chicken sandwich had grilled chicken breast kabab pieces in it, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and sauce. The beef sandwich had ground beef kabab pieces in it instead of chicken breast, bit otherwise the sandwiches were similar. I enjoyed them, but I will try other items next time. The heart shaped dessert (Mkabez) had a marzipan filling and the icing was rosewater flavoured. It was very sweet. The nest shaped pastry was vermicelli with ground pistachios inside. It was also very sweet. The desserts were very pretty, but too sweet for my tastes. Service was very friendly. I had lots of questions and the lady answered them all and was very patient. I liked that they labelled which Bourak was chicken and which was beef; they did the same for the sandwich. I also like that the receipt is itemized so you can see how much each item costs and also the names of the items. The restaurant is where Cat's Fish and Chips Used to be. It's in a converted house. There is parking at the front and at the back on their private lot. I would love to return to try some other items. I will also be ordering some more Mhajeb :)

We were happy that we did decide to give this place a try, as it was everything that we had expected, and more! When we walked-in, we were greeted by a young man, that asked if we wanted take-out or dine-in. We chose dine-in however, the restaurant was quite busy at the time so, we had to be seated at a table near the front entrance. Upon sitting, we noticed the iPad that was on the table for ordering. We were also given paper menus to look at, which was easier. Once we had placed our orders, we waited only about ten minutes for our salads to arrive, along with the hummus and pita bread. The salads were absolutely amazing; the bowls were filled to the brim with cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, olives, and feta cheese. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty, and that dressing, WOW; it was delicious! It tied the salad in so well, it was the best salad we had ever tried at a Greek restaurant. The hummus was also delicious, with heated-up pita bread creating the finishing touches. This hummus was definitely homemade, and marvellous! We even asked for an additional pita, as the one we had wasn't enough for the four of us. This appetizer was definitely a great start! Once our main meals arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at how large the portions were. And the homemade sauce on top of the rice was wonderful; I don't know how they made the sauce, but it was perfect with the rice. The chicken was tender, with the tzatziki sauce not being needed often due to the tenderness. The potatoes were huge, and deliciously spiced. The meal was massive, and we couldn't finish it all; definitely worth what we had paid for! Throughout the entire meal, the server checked on us, bringing us water when we had asked, and making sure we were well taken care of. As we were leaving, the owner/chef asked where we were visiting from, and if we enjoyed the food. This place was hands-down the best Greek restaurant that we've ever been to; down to earth family-owned, amazing food, and great hospitality. Will definitely be back, and would recommend that you all try it as well; you won't be disappointed!

Five Stars -- The Best Philly Cheesesteak I've Ever Had…read more I just had the best Philly cheesesteak of my life. I don't say that lightly. From the first bite to the last, it was absolute perfection. The steak was unbelievably tender, sliced thin and piled high, cooked just right so every bite was juicy and full of flavour. The cheese? Melted perfectly into every bite, rich and smooth. And the bun... warm, soft, with just the right hint of crispness. It held everything together like a proper cheesesteak should. And here's the part that shocked me: it was better than any cheesesteak I've ever had in Philadelphia -- and I've had plenty. This one sets a whole new benchmark. Every ingredient tasted fresh, every flavour balanced. No shortcuts. No filler. Just pure, delicious craftsmanship. It's the kind of sandwich that makes you stop mid-bite and appreciate what's happening. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed something this much. If you think you've had a great Philly cheesesteak before, think again -- this one is on another level. I'll be back. Now let's talk about the Onion Rings I got as a side! Simply perfection. Nice and crispy in a very tasty batter. Best in Ottawa, by far! I will definitely be back!

Each combo includes fries, coleslaw, garlic sauce and a can of pop (although we never got any garlic sauce, but they gave us 9 packets of ketchup (yipee!), since I love ketchup and garlic sauce is usually fattening anyway, I was happy with just the ketchup). The wait is long because they make everything to order. It was about a 20-25 minute wait. The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with a nice hint of flavour. I feel that the chicken is slightly better here than at Zaki's Broast. Broasted chicken is supposed to be less greasy and oily than fried chicken, but I still found it oily. The best broasted chicken I've ever had was at La Hoyo in Halifax which is now closed :( I'm still looking for chicken like that... The fries here are much better than at Zaki's in my opinion. The fries at Laziz are hand cut and lightly seasoned. The coleslaw here is also amazing. It's the creamy type which I usually don't like but I liked Laziz's coleslaw. The dressing is slightly sweet and they use purple and green cabbage, so it looks really colourful. There's a nice crunch to the coleslaw too. The older man who works here is very nice, but the younger guy was really indifferent towards us. The place is clean enough, as are the washrooms. There's sufficient seating and lots of free parking. It's in the same strip mall as the Mark's, Sushi Kan, and Eclipse Asian Cuisine.
