I hired Wendy to oversee redecorating my 1 bedroom condo over the Summer of 2024. It included…read morepaint selection, window treatments carpet, wall unit built in and new furniture . when I arrived in the Fall to supposedly my finished apt I found a disaster. $8000 carpet that was ruined by her installer. $11,000 in window treatments that didn't operate and the apartment which was supposed to be painted completely ---unfinished and a very unprofessional job. These were all contractor's engaged by Wendy that she was responsible for overseeing. But the worst was the $15,000 wall unit that was built in my bedroom where I stressed the importance of my desk area. There was not a single outlet available on that wall to plug in anything so they had to chop up the wall unit so that I could plug in my computer. Wendy was nowhere to be found. While she responded to my emails and texts, she never came back over to the apartment once I arrived to assist in getting any of this resolved. In addition, she attempted to bill me for hours spent looking at furniture before consulting with me. Her "design product" consisted of a bunch of screenshots from Perigold. I immediately fired her and took over the work-- i don't believe Wendy is professionally trained at any level Certainly her care about her clients is lacking. Felt like she would just get away with whatever she could.

Most interior decorators only design for high end properties but Barbara designs for both high end properties and yachts while also amenable to small projects. Thank goodness! Barbara has a depth of experience and knows how to listen to the client. She took all of my comments and added her knowledge to come up with a design, furniture and accessories that were within my budget of $10,000. Barbara gives you choices so if you want to spend a little more or a little less in one area you have options. My explicit desire was to have a blue accent wall downstairs. I LOVE my blue accent walls. Barbara chose a blue color that added a WOW factor when you walked into the home. Barbara managed the whole project, coordinated the furniture delivery, painters and electricians. She even made trips to several spots to pick up items. She incorporated almost all of my accessories and paintings in the final design. She is a perfectionist and goes more than the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect. She designed the living room, dining room, power room while selecting paint colors for all rooms and hanging paintings in every room of the house. While the final cost was slightly less than $10,000 I feel the value of the home increased by more than $10,000. I am absolutely thrilled with all of Barbara's work which only took 4 days of actually working in my home. Barbara is quick and efficient and, above all, you can completely trust her judgment. We called Michael and he was able to schedule an inspection for the condo that we wanted buy and sign sales contract as a buyer. Michael and his son Mario showed up to do the inspection, for what ever reason three agents were there telling me that he inspected the same condo several months earlier and I was wasting my money. They were rude to Michael saying that they fixed the items he found last time. As it turns out they lost a buyer because of the issues that Michael had found. Micheal explained that he worked for the buyer and to please let him do his job. I told him we still wanted him to inspect and to verify what we were being told. Micheal was able to pull the last inspection to verify that the items that failed the previous inspection. He reassured me that he and Mario would reinspect everything and let me know where each item stood. Mario went into every craw space, cabinet and closet to ensure I would have no issues. Thankfully, in walking around the house with Michael, he was able to educate me on the issues he found and verify the new items had been fixed. He checked the new AC, appliances and the electrical to ensure that they were installed correctly. From Michaels advice I was able to sit down with the homeowner, we were able to get them to correct the items Micheal had found saving us money before we signed a contract. I'm so glad I was able to have Michael and Mario from Affordable Inspections help me make a smarter decision and save us some money!
