This man straight up took my boots, charged me $63 and never called me to tell me they were finished so I completely forgot about it. Come back to get them a couple months later and the boots are nowhere to be found and he doesn't want to give me my money back. Took in my pair of Alexander McQueens to get cleaned and this guy washed the whole shoe and caused the top line blue to bleed into the white canvas part of shoe. Now I have to take them somewhere more professional to get these blue stains out. Never going back. read more

All they had too do was follow directions. Adding a snap to the sleeve does not require touching or altering the original. Instructions were: add one snap per sleeve, one inch from the original snap. Not brain surgery is it! read more

Is there a reason why I took the bus on the hottest day of the year (so far; thank you pedantic readers) to get my shoes fixed here? Yes. It's because they do amazing work at rock-bottom prices. I've gotten heels replaced and shoes resoled. Every time they polish and clean the shoes at no extra charge, so I walk out with what look like new shoes--except they're mine and have already been broken in. I've been going here since I was so little I couldn't see over the counter. They fixed my shoes growing up, and I've been loyal ever since. They'll even do the work while you wait. Of course, being perfectionists, sometimes it's longer than you'd want to wait (getting new soles takes about half an hour)--but it is completely worth it. Today they even offered to paint the sole of my shoe (to match the new rubber) for free. They're that nice and that good. There's a $2 charge for cards, so bring cash. Parking is in the lot behind them, but there is limited street parking. read more

The shoe repair gentleman knows exactly how to fit your shoe "sole" problem and completes the service fast! He restored life into a favorite pair of "gladiator" type sandals that I had. One of the straps broke and I wasn't sure if it was "fixable". He knew right away what to do. Service: Estimated time to fix my sandals was thirty minutes. When I returned, it was ready to be picked-up. I wouldn't be surprised if he finished it sooner than that. Price: I thought that the pricing for the work completed was "okay". If you use a credit card, there is a $2 transaction fee. Thankfully, I had some cash with me. You can pay up front or when you pick-up your shoe(s). (This is why I rated the business with 4 stars because of the pricing and the transaction fee for using credit cards no matter the amount you spend). Parking: I believe that there is street parking available but there is also a parking lot that you can access from Tampa on the southwest side of Tampa & Vanowen. The "entrance" to the parking lot looks like an alley way (which part of it is) but drive in and park anywhere. Look for the a sign that says "Shoe Repair" (something like that). Other thoughts: If you're waiting for your shoe repair to be completed on the same day, I would suggest preparing to drive somewhere else or bringing a book and waiting in the store. There is a See's Candies store, pizza restaurant, recycling area (at parking lot that you park at), and maybe a donut shop and 7-Eleven around the store but unsure of what else there was to see/do. It seems that he does dry cleaning as well. The rate for laundering men's shirts is $1.80 per shirt. Sounds like a pretty good deal. read more

He had to redo the buckle on my boots but the bolt they used was a diff color and the stitching was not pretty... i also read the reviews and one person complained his shoes weren't ready when promised. So i called on the promise date and sure enough, he didn't know what date he promised. All in all, he seems to be a great guy but the workmanship is not great. read more

I had a great experience with Nick at the shoe repair shop. I brought my scuffed dress shoes in Monday and the shoes came back almost flawless on Tuesday. I tried buffing out the marks at home with different repair kits and products but couldn't get the scuffed marks out. I've had two experiences here and neither have been good. Clearly I won't be going back. I first took my dog's leather collar in here to be shortened, and he shortened it, and matched the color of the stitching, but it was double stitched and stitched tighter than the stitch he put in, so it looks very obvious and a little ghetto. I didn't care too much, it's just a dog collar, but I should have learned my lesson. I took a pair of boots that I use to ride horses in to have a hole patched on the inside. I have had this done other places before on both this pair and other pairs of boots without incident. I clearly explained that it couldn't be stitched across and couldn't be stitched too thick on the one side, or the stitching will rub a hole in my leg when I ride. I picked them up after a full week, and while the leather patch itself looks ok, it has triple stitching on one side, which I specifically didn't want, there is leather glue ALL over the other side, seeping out of the other seam, the line where there is less stitching isn't clean and isn't in the right place, so there's kind of a gap where it looks weird, and there is a huge stitch right across the bottom, which will also rub my leg. So now I have a pair of $1000 boots that are going to rub giant holes in my leg and have to be either fixed, which I don't think is really possible because of all the crap they did, or replaced. Very expensive lesson for me to learn if someone does a shotty job once, don't ever, ever go back. read more
