Love the convenience of MBS. Flying in at night is a pain in the ----! Took us 30 minutes of waiting for our luggage to come out on the carousel. Looks like they had one person back there loading and unloading. The service is absolutely ridiculous. There is no one here to talk to if your luggage is missing. no one at the counter. This was a United flight. I hear people constantly complaining about collecting their baggage. Unacceptable!!! read more

Very small airport, but modern and very clean. Picking up and dropping off a rental car is quick and convenient. Getting through security is very fast with TSA Precheck, but the non-Precheck passengers were getting through slowly because they were all directed to go through the X-ray scanner. TSA Precheck travelers were given a red card to carry through security to identify as Precheck. You can plan to arrive for your flight 30 minutes before boarding time because this airport is so small. Limited food options so grab something to eat before you come to the airport. read more

The last two flights I have booked have been delayed so I could not make my connection in Detroit. I would use this airport more often if the flights were reliable since I live right in Saginaw, but unless they can improve reliability of flights so you don't miss connections , we will probably just drive to Detroit for a direct flight to our destination. It is too bad because it is much less of a hassle than driving two hours and parking at Detroit, as MBS is a very nice facility and easy to get through as it is so small. read more

First of all I didn't know an airport could be so fun and easy going. The Hertz agent was kind and friendly. The Delta check-in desk clerk was super! Thanks Jarrod. When I had a snafu at the TSA check-in like they handled it with grace and patience. Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if flying in and out of MBS would be worth it. I usually flew Detroit or Flint. This is a great little airport located in the middle if farmland. They put a lot of money into making this airport look modern and comfortable. The employees are very friendly also. If you have to fly somewhere, consider this airport instead of driving all the way to Detroit and then having to deal with parking there and everything else that accompanies a large airport. It's only a. 20 minute flight to Detroit from this airport too. So it's nothing. As soon as they reach altitude, they are already on the decent back down. Nice! The parking is awesome since there aren't too many people flying out of here, and the walk into the airport is minimal. There are plenty of things to eat inside so no worries about that either. I've been to quite a few smaller airports, and this is by far the nicest one. read more

This airport reminds me of Burbank (Bob Hope) Airport, only the fact at how small this airport is. This is probably the cleanest and friendliest airport I've been to. My hubs and I were flying back to California, after getting married in Charlevoix and had a short layover at DTW. We rented a car from DTW and was able to return it at MBS. I had actually never been to an airport where the car return is in an open parking lot, so I was a bit confused about who to talk to, but found the car rental desk inside the airport. I forgot to fill up, prior to returning the car, but the front desk employee told me the nearest gas station was about a mile away from the airport, so make sure you fill up in town! Another thing I didn't realize about this airport is, they allow you to enter the security check area at a certain time. Probably because they don't have very many flights going in or out at certain times. I think it was about 2 PM when they allowed us to go through security and wait at the gates. Since I get uber anxious about flying, we still had an hour and a half to space once we go in. Since we had so much time to kill, we took advantage of the cafe. There are only two, which sell the same thing with one being next to the security check area and one near the gates. If I ever have a choice of flying into an airport near northern MI, I will definitely choose this one again! read more

What a gem! This is one of the best regional airports I have been to! (and trust me, I slum at the smallest and the worst of regional airports quite often!) The new airport is very tech-savvy. I think there are 4-6 gates. In the middle of the airport is a bar with actually decent food. Very clean. Easy in & out, quick security. I have NO complaints! read more

Small airport with only 4 gates, although no more than one gate is ever occupied at once! Theres an arcade room with some old school games like my favorite Pac Man! There's a cafe for coffee and food and a little gift shop with a nice amount of greeting cards. Let's just say if you get stuck here, well there's enough to do to pass the time....atleast for a few hours. I always enjoy small airports, employees are always friendly and theres never lines at the security point! read more

Very small airport. I think there are only two airlines that fly in. That allows for very quick check-in with very little hassle. When there's a lot of snow on the ground and it's windy, flying in and out of MBS can be a little scary. If you're bored, there's a large screen television with chairs oriented around it. Small, clean airport. Because it's so small (and it was early in the morning), there was no wait to go through security. I've never experienced that feeling before! Let's be honest, this is the airport that Dow requires. I am not associated with Dow, but appreciate this modern little airport exists locally. I can easily cruise through check-in and security within 10 minutes and am always met by friendly staff. The facility is clean and it has the basics of what you need. The downside is when things go wrong they go horribly wrong. Often I have found myself wondering, after hours delayed, if I should have just driven to ORD, FNT, or DTW. Those days the charm of this place wear thin. Unless this becomes the norm and not the outlier, this will continue to be my go to home base. When things are smooth though the place is great: - free wifi - cheap long-term parking - quick security - clean bathrooms - friendly staff Couldn't ask for much more in a regional flight line. read more

It's a small airport, so there's nothing to do once you're past security except grab a beer or snack from the lone restaurant counter. It doesn't matter though because check in and security are both very efficient; there's no need to be here more than half an hour early. I regularly fly out on Thanksgiving and other busy travel days, but the line is always running smoothly. Everyone here is incredibly helpful and seem genyinely happy. The Delta gates normally have a bowl of candy out, too. Parking is reasonable ($7/day) but it's just an open parking lot. The lot is small, but even on really busy travel days I haven't had to park far away. Pro tip: don't schedule a connection between here and MSP in the winter. There's only one connection a day so if your flight is missed or canceled, you'll be stuck a full 24 hours. It's a cheaper option, but you're better off connecting in DTW or elsewhere read more

MBS is a very small regional airport. It is clean and well maintained. I come back to Michigan every year to visit family and usually fly into other airports because they are cheaper, but on this trip it was cheaper to fly into Saginaw and closer to my Dads house, so yay! I haven't been in this airport in several years. Nice updated terminal. No lines or hassles like the other big airports. I fly a lot so not having to deal with crowds etc is really a nice change of pace. Being that it is so small there are not a lot of options for things to do if you get stuck here, but you also don't have to get here 2 hours early just so you can try and make it through security and get to your get gate on time. I appreciate that! I would fly into this airport more often if I could get good prices. I hope that they get more flight options so I can do so in the future. Another plus which I just found out about. My best friend from High school daughter lives 1 1/2 miles from here so I can stop and visit her. Which I did on this trip. read more

Even these small airports are now up to date. That makes it even easier to choose them over the larger/further away airports. Check-in is quick and easy, as is security. The gate area has a lot of windows for great natural light. There is a small shop with a few snack options. My only issue is with the lack of outlets. I am not sure how you build a terminal in this era without outlets everywhere. read more

It's really amusing that MBS has four gates, as I don't think more than one flight ever comes in/out at the same time. Because it's so small, there are never lines for anything (airline counter, security, etc.)! Also because it's so small, there aren't really a lot of amenities or things to do if you are stuck at MBS - a small combo diner/shop and an arcade are all that's there. Remember that once you go through security there are no shops or services. They are currently building a new terminal. If the new terminal has more amenities and if they can get more flights to other locations (other than just MSP, DTW, and ORD), MBS could be a 5-star airport. read more

What a cute little airport. It's so tiny that you don't need to get there too early so there's no need for shops or restaurants. There is a cafe before security in case you need some chips or sweets before your flight, there is free wifi, and the bathrooms are clean. Since it isn't crazy busy here, the staff are generally friendly. You can see the gates from behind security so you know when your plane has arrived and when to go through so there's rarely a line. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the baggage claim is before security so anyone could just come into the airport and walk out with your luggage since it goes out to the belt almost as fast as you. Highly unlikely but still a little unsettling. read more

This review is for United Airlines: I love small airports. I almost always get better, friendlier, more personal service at smaller airports. The gentleman who checked me in at MBS was so pleasant and efficient! I was traveling with an in-cabin animal, as well as a medical device (asthma nebulizer). Due to the small size of the aircraft bringing both along with my carry-on bag was going to be difficult. No problem! The lovely staff at United had a bit of a chat to discuss it for all of 15 seconds, and then pleasantly informed me that they could check my medical device for free; however since I needed it with me, they would instead check my carry-on suitcase, no charge, so I had less to carry and wouldn't be over my bag limit after all. While I was incredibly impressed with their effort to help me travel comfortably, it is the absolutely charming levels of friendliness from all the staff that morning that truly earned them five full stars. I love visiting my friends in Michigan even more now, because I know MBS will be the last stop, and then how I'm getting home. read more

Quaint remodel is nicely done. Efficient and friendly crew. Building is clean. I love that we can hop on a flight from such a great location. No need to arrive 2 hours before a domestic flight , they usually don't open security until 60-45 minutes prior to departure. No vegan food, bring your own, but there are cocktails available pre- and post- security which is nice if you want to chill with your family for a moment before gate. No shops. read more

Sorry, if you're going to build a new airport, make the prices of flights competitive so people can see the place aside from the one open house you had when you first opened up! This airport is nice since the new facility was built a few years ago. It's sort of like someone cut out part of an actual large-scale airport and dumped out near Freeland. The main area before the security checkpoint could use more seating, but otherwise, it's a nice airport for mid-Michigan. read more

There have not been any significant waits at the security line. I want to love this airport since it is close to home and so easy to get in and out of, but every time I try to fly, my flight seems to be cancelled, which is a major hassle. Decent airport for departure, terrible for arrivals. United (Skywest actually) is understaffed and inept. Gate checked bags are sent to baggage claim anyways, and those, along with actual checked bags, take longer than the actual flight to come out at baggage claim! Oh, and if you have status on United, well, your priority bags come out last! read more
