It is also a good place for your kids because they can watch any other trains coming past the depot to help pass the time.

However, the Redmond's on Gratiot truly let our family down. My sister recently died and when we went through all her invoices from Redmond's, it was glaringly apparent that they completely took advantage of her for years! We stayed in the very first room, closest to the road. Everything was fine until the middle of the night when I heard someone talking and it sounded like they were actually in our room. It was the room next door. We could hear them talking, and could hear every word they were saying. Luckily we had a noise maker to turn on so we could drown out the noise. In the morning, it was also very loud and we could hear all the cars driving by on the main road. The bed was large and spacious, but when we woke up, we were pretty sore from sleeping on it all night. Its not a typical hotel, as it doesn't have a pool, breakfast, etc. but it was very clean, which is hard to find in a hotel sometimes so I will give them that.

This was cleaner than a lot of the hotels I've been in. The woman at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. We didn't check in until about 7pm and she let us know right away that if we needed anything, the office was closing at 9pm (which was helpful for the second night). The motel was booked, as we stayed during a holiday weekend and there was a large family staying there for a wedding. Everyone was friendly and respectful. It was quiet at night, so no problems with noise. The room was impeccably clean and well-stocked. The pillows were quite comfy, which is saying something as I've been unable to find a pillow that both supports and is comfortable since my spinal fusion. The bathroom was very spacious and we had room to have one of us in the shower, another using the facilities, and another using the sink. Our only complaint was that the motel placed a $100 hold on the card for incidentals on top of the room charges, which caused issues with our credit union. Other than that, highly recommended!

When we arrived, the woman selling the tickets was genuinely friendly and interested in our dog. I love that this is a dog-friendly activity and that always gets extra bonus points with me. She asked our dog's name and answered all our questions and when we saw her hours later walking around the town she called out to our dog by name and said hello. It was very sweet and just one example of the warm welcoming spirit of this city. The cruise itself was very calm and slow. Just a smooth ride down the Cass River and back. There's lots of time to take in the scenery and you learn a lot. The gentleman narrating our tour was knowledgeable and had a great voice on the microphone. I actually thought it was a recording for the first few minutes, but he introduced himself and explained that his son was the boat captain. He shared the history of Frankenmuth and the surrounding area and when he tells you the popcorn they sell on board is the best you'll ever have, he's not lying. The popcorn was the surprise star of this cruise! For only $2 you get this bag of fresh salty delicious popcorn and they actually encourage you to toss some to the ducks on the river. It was really fun watching them Rush up to the boat and watching the children laughing and enjoying themselves. I love popcorn though so unfortunately the ducks had to share with me because it was definitely the best $2 popcorn I've ever had! This is a must if you're in Frankenmuth and I'm so glad we got to experience it. We had such a nice time that we bought some souvenirs on our way off the boat, including a little Captain's hat for my husband to match the one we had for our pup already. It really was a lovely time.

No chipped gross mirrors here. I'm looking at you, Harry Reid. I'm giving 4 stars because all of the eateries were closed. If you have arrivals and departures, they should be open. You want to provide an exceptional customer experience right? Then you need to be open. Staff was present and friendly. The elevator worked well and was clean. The escalator was working fine. I didn't take it because of luggage. Although there was construction, I didn't feel hindered in any way. Passenger pick up was convenient and you could load right at the front doors. In all, it's a nice little airport!
