There is some parking off of Rte 27 near the underpass under the tracks. The local cops and businesses will tow you if you try to park in a non-commuter rail parking lot. If the the station is open, get your tickets there from the coffee shop inside to avoid a surcharge on the train. Their machine is unreliable sometimes however. Would have more stars if it was open later and had a bit more parking.

From Foxboro to Dedham, we didn't go faster than 6 or 7 miles per hour. I get that they don't own the tracks and they're going through a residential neighborhood but if it's going to suck this much then don't even do it. Next time, if there is a next time, I'll get a shuttle bus of some sort from downtown. Because this was absolutely awful. We didn't get to South Station until 12:40AM. (Note: There is also a train from here south to Providence. Maybe that runs faster?)

Positive points: Not a crowded station. Less of a scramble to get on/off the train. It's about in the middle of the line. If you're getting on here to head towards Boston, you have a good chance of getting a seat as it's before 3 or 4 stations with huge parking lots and lots of people. Two shelters at the ends of the platform. Less positive points: A bit isolated at night as not a lot of traffic/people will be coming by since it's at the very back of the complex. I haven't had any problems late at night or early in the morning. No parking unless you're a resident of the apartment complex. Signs up everywhere saying resident parking only, towing enforced, etc. Not sure how strictly they enforce this but do you really want to be towed? So this is pretty much a drop off/pick up station. It's technically a flag stop. While I've never seen the trains not stop there, theoretically if the engineer doesn't see anyone on the platform and nobody on the train is getting off, the train might not stop. Tell the crew on the train you're getting off here or be visible on the platform (not hiding in the shelters) at train time if you're waiting to board. So, one star off for no parking, otherwise this is a pretty good stop to use.

Pros: -Accessible. -Easy access to platform. -Good location, clear signage. -Loads of parking. -Plenty of open seats. Cons: -The only early moring train is SLOW (1 hour, 5 minutes). Add an express route and more people will come. -The only inbound Boston stop is South Station. This program was promoted to riders on the Providence Line (Mansfield & Sharon), and the MAJORITY of those riders get off the train at Ruggles and Back Bay. Going to South Station means all of those customers have to back track 20 minutes to get to work. Slow train + extra time on the T to get back to work means less riders.

First, the actual trip into South Station takes way too long. 1 hour and ten minutes if the train is on time. No trip into Boston should ever take more than 45 minutes. Then, don't dare miss your train (and the train is always departing EXACTLY on time) because if you do, the next train is an hour or more away. In some situations it could be 3 hours later. If they don't do something about making at least ONE express during rush hour I don't think I am going to be able to take the train from here any longer. Norwood Depot is 2 dollars per day parking with about a 35 minute trip into Boston and I have many more train options to get there and back - even with driving I will be home sooner. I agree this service has serious potential. Imagine if they could build some apartments around some of the patriot place lands? The track also connects with the providence line so there would be service to Boston and Providence. But at the moment the MBTA seems to be trying to kill this line.

The docents are all longtime Easton residents, and I was lucky enough to meet one kind gentleman today who was part of the Oliver Ames High School Class of 1969! He raised his family in the small town, and now in retirement, volunteers here. You can visit during the day, or stop by during one of their many weekend "open houses", where they have guest speakers and other interesting local experts to talk about everything Easton MA! As someone who collects old yearbooks, I was absolutely in HEAVEN in their room that features tons of books dating back to the 1920s! I could have spent all day here.. and will definitely be back to do just that!
