Do not expect to use their WiFi to pay for parking there. I was unable to download the parking app or make a payment from the station. Their recommendation was to either use Dunkin Donuts wifi, go out on the platform and try for better cell service or do it later when you can find cell service elsewhere. MBTA's WiFi is spotty at best, but more likely nonexistent. Pretty sad, since they expect you to pay for parking via phone only app. read more

Amtrak recommends arriving 30 minutes before your scheduled train and it was my first time using Amtrak, and my first time to Route 128 Station. Exit the highway, drive past the parking garage and turn left onto Blue Hill Drive, and take the left on in where it says "Amtrak/MBTA Pick-up & Drop off". Either entrance at the end will work. While the left side is more direct and closer to the Amtrak counter, the right side will take you past the Dunkin Donuts. There's a waiting area, the bathrooms are by the elevator, and only two tracks. 1 is outbound, and 2 heads into Boston. Simple. Start heading out when they announce that your train is arriving, about 8 min in advance. Head towards the right if you are Coach bound. Take a seat and the conductor will scan your ticket code and tuck a paper ticket above you. Take it with you if you change seats. If you go past NYC, the crew changes, and every passenger gets scanned again. If you are ADA and need access to one of their accessible seats, there's a way to mention it when buying your ticket, so the conductor will save you a seat in advance. Two bathrooms are available at one end of the Coach car. If the light is on, the bathroom is taken and the door locked. These are roomier than those on airplanes. So are the seats, although they otherwise resemble those found in planes with the tables that fold down and seats that recline back. 120 volt plugs are available, but no screens and no headset jacks, so no music. Stops are announced, so it felt that communication was pretty good on the train and at the station. Coming back and arriving on track 2, we had to exit and head up and over the tracks, where we could go straight into the garage, or take the escalator down by Dunkin Donuts. There's an elevator as well, which will take you to the bathrooms. read more

Had to meet a colleague here to take the train to NYC for a conference. This was my 1st time here and the experience was amazing. Looks fairly new, easy entry and covered parking. Easy payment for parking thru an app. Definitely will be back again. read more

The trains were right in schedule. There was a large parking lot with an area in front where cars can pick up or drop off people. They even have a Dunkin' Donuts. The station is located right off of 128 so it is easily accessible. read more

Rte 128 MBTA Station - Acela - Public Transportation Near Me - Westwood, Massachusetts

I have been taking the train in and out of this station for a couple months now. There are a couple things that make it a great station. First, there is a building so in the cold months, you can keep warm and the summer months, stay cool. Second, there is a Dunkin Donuts so if you do get hungry, they got you covered. There are bathrooms, and for a train station, they're actually pretty clean. There is also a large parking lot, and it is covered. I believe daily parking costs $7. Lastly, there are surrounding restaurants and stores in walking distance in the rare event you are stranded in the area. For the most part, the train is punctual, and the walk to get to the tracks are not too bad. They are good at communicating delays, and remind passengers of approaching trains. There is also a big screen, and smaller screens with the timetable. It doesn't get too loud, and the Amtrak to Washington does stop there is the afternoons. There are elevators, escalators, ramps, and stairs, so very handicapped accessible. One suggestion I would make it having benches on the tracks. When it's nicer out, it would be nice to be able to sit outside while waiting for the train, but currently, you can only stand. There is a lot of seating inside though. They also have a couple ticket windows. read more

Avoid the crunch and hassle of getting into Boston to pick up your weekend guests. Route 128 is the best stop. You pick up your friends and be on your way. One star lost because the Dunkin Donuts isn't always open. read more

Route 128 Amtrak Station is two levels. It is not a bad or dirty station. It is actually one of the nicer smaller ones I have been too. They have a small Dunkin Donuts booth with a very nice guy that works there. At Least he was working while I was there and he seemed very nice. They also have some shelves that have some bars on them. Like kind bars and maybe another type. I think there is also a vending machine. This station has seating up and down stairs within the station. Seems to be clean and the seats seem to be in good shape. I don't come to this station very often but when I do I always find it pretty peaceful and not crazy like some of the bigger/more well known stations are. I wish there was more food/drink options. read more

When taking the train from NYC to Boston, I get on and off at the Route 128 station which is very small and easy to navigate given that there are only a few tracks. There is a huge parking and easy drop off/pick up (just note that the drop off and pick up point is inside the parking with the big T on it). There's really no reason to get here early as the train makes a quick stop to pick up passengers and there isn't much here to do (there IS a bathroom and maybe a Dunkin' Donuts but not much else), but there's also no leeway if you are late as the train only makes a quick stop. For the Northeast Regional train to NYC, this is the third stop after picking up passengers from the two stations in the city, so most seats will already be taken and people with empty seats next to them will have spread out their things already. As a solo passenger it's fairly easy to find a seat, but you will probably have to ask someone if the seat next to them is available and to move their stuff if it is. I'd imagine that traveling as a pair you might have a difficult time finding seats together. They come around and check and scan train tickets, putting a ticket above your seat once it's scanned (so make sure not to move around, or take your ticket with you if you do). A much easier station for those located in the suburbs! read more

Route 128 is definitely a commuter station, offering over 2500 parking spaces in a rather large desk. RIght at the crossing where Route 128 meets up with Interstate 95 and US1. The location is excellent, right near the highway and has easy access to the garage. The station is fully handicapped accessible. There are places to park for "kiss and go" and they don't seem to unhappy with people who step away from their vehicle to pick someone up from the platform. There are ticket machines and a staffed booth for purchasing tickets, but it's just easier to use the MTicket MBTA app to purchase. Route 128 is on the Providence / Stoughton line between Canton Junction (outbound, towards Wickford Junction or Stoughton) and Hyde Park (inbound, towards South Station). Amtrak's Acela trains also stop here and the Northeast Regional. read more

If you're familiar with the Boston area, you know how bad traffic and parking can be in Boston proper. That's where Route 128 station comes in. If you want to, say, take the train from Boston to NYC, but you actually live in a suburb to the west or south of Boston, it'll probably be faster and cheaper to just drive to Route 128 station than South Station or Back Bay. Or if you're traveling to a Boston suburb and having a friend pick you up, they'll probably prefer to pick you up from Route 128 than from downtown. In some ways, then, Route 128 is the exemplar commuter rail station. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere without much to do in the vicinity (unless you want to go to a Wegmans that's in a random shopping center nearby), but it does have easy access to the highways. The station has a bunch of parking, too. There's a huge parking structure with thousands of spots. As someone who frequently travelled the MBTA Providence Line to get to Boston, I never got off at Route 128 (because I had no reason to), but one summer weekend morning, I decided to get off at this station just because. (I admit, I'm a bit late in writing this review.) As I got off the train (in retrospect, maybe about three stops before I should have), I was immediately greeted with green foliage near the platform. The surrounding area is beautiful! Lots of trees. Kind of felt like being in a Miyazaki film. I walked into the station building, which felt modern and clean. There are large windows that allow for lots of natural light to flow in. There is also free WiFi (provided by Amtrak since this station is also served by Amtrak Acela and Northeast Regional trains), which is nice considering most MBTA commuter rail stations don't have any WiFi. As I wandered around the station, I noticed there was a small newsstand/cafe, but more importantly, I noticed there was a Dunkin'. This is very important as we all know that America runs on Dunkin'. As I finished up wandering through the station, I realized there was no connecting transit. That is, there are no buses you can take! As someone who doesn't drive, this is a big downside for me for this station (hence, why I have to remove a star from the rating). I could have waited for the next train to take me to Boston, but because I stubbornly wanted to take a bus, I ended up walking six miles to a route 33 bus stop. Oh well. read more

As far as trying stations go, it is pretty clean and efficient. Lots of parking, if not a bit pricey for suburban parking. If you are new to the station, there are few things you should know about parking: 1) The Amtrak parking is on the first floor. MBTA parking is on the upper floors. When you first enter the garage, you will see a sign at the top directing you to "Amtrak parking". 2) If you want to use EZ-Pass to pay for parking, there are NO instructions evident anywhere. Do I take a ticket? If I do, how to I pay? etc. It's almost like they want to keep it a secret. Turns out, you can get a piece of paper with the instructions from the parking desk, but even that isn't advertised. To save you the hassle, here are the instructions: - Pay with EZ-Pass only works with Massachusetts transponders. Transponders from other states won't work. - When entering the parking garage, take a ticket just like everyone else. You don't have to take it inside, but you will need it to exit. - When exiting the parking garage, look for lanes that say "EZ Pass Accepted." - Scan the Barcode on the ticket as if you will be paying by credit card. - If EZPass was detected on your car, it will say so on the screen with the total dollar amount. If it wasn't, drive your car a little bit closer to the gate, which may help. - Once EZ-Pass is detected, press the "EZ-Pass" button on the top right hand corner of the machine. Gate will immediately open. - If EZ-Pass refuses to be detected, pay with credit card using the up & down slot. You will not be double-charged. read more

Do not use this station often but when I do it is because my normal Franklin Line train is not working right and this is another option for me to be picked up at when the day is over or take the train from in the morning. The station is always really clean. When being picked up there is always a ton of cars and no one pays attention to where anyone is going, you really have to push your way into being able to move. The tracks are all really clearly labeled and you always know where to go to get your train. read more

The station itself is perfectly adequate, but whoever developed this revised exit system (EZpass holders must take a ticket and feed it into malfunctioning exit gates) should be forced to park there for the rest of their life! The backups are horrible! I'm glad this is only my "Plan B" option for commuting! read more

If could give this station zero stars for parking I would. It should not take longer than the train ride to Boston to exit this garage. I average 20 minutes every night. Horrible. read more
