    Goats cheese starter
    Sam R.

Early bird for €25 or €20 if you get a burger as your main? Eh... Yes please! Fab price. If, the food is good that is! And well... It was just that. I started with the goats cheese starter which came on a crisp bread, leafs and other fancy bits. It was very tasty indeed and I loved the presentation. I opted for the good oul burger with blue cheese as there burger options were good. It came with a choice of skinny fries or fat chips.(I got skinny) the burger was homemade and full of flavor. Worth trying for new diners but I'd try a different main dish should I return. Just because the main dishes looked lovely aswell. The deserts were spot on. Myself and my friend (a fellow yelper) shared the pear tart and cheesecake. Mmmm... just delicious. Both equally as good as each other. All in all well worth value for money for a good hearty 3 course meal.

    Mexican burger

They do an excellently-priced Early bird here - 3 courses for €20 (if your main is a burger) and €25 otherwise. I had the chicken pate and it was one of the nicest I've ever had, flavoured with sherry and with a lovely onion marmalade on top, it was rich and creamy and served with plenty of bread to slather it over...really top-notch stuff! My Mexican burger failed to live up to the heights of the starter but it was still very tasty, just nothing out of the ordinary. The guacamole it came with was very fresh and zesty though, and it was a really decent sized burger, one that I would quite happily eat again. The desserts claimed to be home-made and you could definitely taste it - the pastry on the pear tart was deliciously flaky and crispy and the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake was really good - very light, despite appearances! For €20 for three generous-sized dishes, McGoverns really is exceptional value for money and the food is excellent considering the price, would definitely return but would try something other than the burger next time.

Aussie burger, with gluten free buns : delicious

Ate here a while ago, and forgot to complete my review. It is a bit outdated, but still helpful to…read moresome I hope. The Greenhouse seems to be the "it" restaurant in Dublin at the moment. There has been much fanfare with the opening of the restaurant, and its chef, Mikael Viljanen. Although only opened for several months, many are anticipating a Michelin Star from The Greenhouse. Unfortunately, The Greenhouse did not get a Michelin start this year, but they are definitely headed in the right direction. Chef Viljanen is very creative and many of the dishes have a molecular gastronomy spin on them. The restaurant is extremely small, only 40 seats. Eating at The Greenhouse is more of an experience, so they won't rush you out the door trying to turn over tables. With all of the recent publicity, trying to get a reservation isn't easy at the last minute. It is suggested that reservations be made at least one week in advance. I was fortunate to get a lunch reservation. I had tried to walk-in the night before, but there were no openings and the kitchen was closing. We decided to eat at One Pico instead and the General Manager there, Andrew, called The Greenhouse to see if they could squeeze us in the following day. He was able to get a lunch reservation, and the General Manager, David O'Brien, from The Greenhouse even came over to One Pico to introduce himself and said he was looking forward to us eating there the following day. We ordered the Chef's Choice Five Course Tasting Menu. The meal started off with an amuse bouche of a maitake mushroom cream puff. A perfectly light and crunchy cream puff shell encasing, a rich earthy filling of mushrooms. The first course was foie gras, royale and frozen, green apple and candied nuts. This dish is a grab bag of flavors, textures and temperatures. Pairing the earthy and velvety foie gras with the tartness of green apples, and the sweet crunchiness of nuts will keep your taste buds dancing and wanting more. The second course was a Jerusalem artichoke veloute with truffle oil. The soup is silky smooth. The truffle oil adds some richness and earthiness to the dish. A very well balanced course. The third course was cod, smoked mussels and cauliflower puree with hazelnut oil. The cod was cooked to perfection. Still slightly translucent in the middle, the delicate flavor rose right to the top. The smoked mussels were tender and did not overpower the cod. The cauliflower puree added some earthiness to the dish. A great way to start the meal. The fourth course was venison, pumpkin puree, roasted shallots and bacon. The venison was a perfect medium rare. The roasted shallots added some sweetness to the dish. The pumpkin puree added some earthiness, while the bacon added some saltiness and a textural contrast. The meal ended with a dessert of chocolate, carmelized onions, with sorbet and a mousse like dish, and milk solid crisps. The dish just did not work for me. The sorbet and mousse was strange to have as a dessert and was rather tart. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the ingredient and lost my notes, but it is something that is usually associated with savory dishes rather than desserts. To me it did not pair well with the chocolate. The menu at The Greenhouse is very ambitious and creative, but certainly in the right hands with Chef Viljanen at the helm.

Wow wow wow!! Great food…read more Flawless service We went for the six course tasting menu with paired wine. We had champagne to start Three canapés The menu was Foie gras with apple sorbet That sorbet was incredible!! Red mullet bouillabaisse Cos with truffle, cauliflower and roasted yeast Pyrenees lamb with wild garlic, morels, artichoke and white asparagus which also came with lamb shoulder in a dill sauce Clementine and milk tart Chocolate praline dessert with a white coffee ice-cream We finished with coffee and petit fours. My friends, it's been a while since I've criticised a humble food seller.. I have been away and…read moreback again, distracted by a fair wench that I have now made my wife..Anyways, I'm back to excersise my creative wordology in 2025 and hopefully continue on with the book I'm writing about my misadventures. SO, Without further adue, let's lay into armPitts Brother's BBQ... It was a Saturday morning when uncle Phil arrived at my door, 6am as agreed, the gentlemen are back in Ireland so we thought we'd celebrate with a full day drug fueled pig out. No, I'm not talking about the kind you might arrange with the chubster mauling her lipstick stained fish bowl glass in Whelans at the end of an evening of debauchery.. I'm a married man now, Sir.. No, we were on a mission to consume as much smoked dead animal, coffee, pints, and antibiotics as we could before his dad came to collect him. FOR HE IS A MAN OF LIMERICK, and a kind soul - rare to find in those westerly parts. My spouse and sprog were also dressed for social warfare determined to keep up with the appetite of the warlords recently returned to the Fatherland.. Seated in the middle of the hall, a pedestal raised for the show ahead. My woman spotted her kin working the rounds and bent up to query her nationality. A match! A southerly piriguete ready to do our bidding and translate everything off the menu - CORN ON THE COBS for everyone in the audience. Do I have your attention?! Do I still have your attention? .. my meat is getting cold resting on the table while the kitchen gremlins in the back fetch water for the table next to us.. Eventually, it arrives, and I'm not surprised.. It's exactly what I ordered.. The same brisket that keeps popping up on my youtube feed every time I look for bbq recipes.. yeah, OK, it's grand, it melts in my face.. job done. I'll take the bloating diarrhoea to go, please, and a can of Fantana for the babee.. Hold up, there's 1 plate not touched.. Uncle Phil's better half. Sitting there with half a dead cow in front of her that's so dry, I wouldn't fuck with it myself without a ramicken of boner marrow to lube up that bitch. Send it back! Feed it to the animals! I'm not paying! My wife's new friend drags it's off by the ankle to have a whine and a moan about it with the chefs and pop! Another one comes sliding across the table. I look back, and cheeky Little Miss Fortaleza has already left, not even a goodbye.. We're all done at this stage too so Uncle Phil's wife has a choice, walk around town with a dead animal in her pocket all evening til munch time, or eat it in front of us while we counting down the minutes before Phil's dads gotta come and pick him up.. tick tick tick.. decision time.. "Table service of 10% is included with groups of 4+.." Oh, that's reallll clever.. Raaeeell bad man.. what if we're not satisfied? Well my friends.. this is where yelp comes in.. the customer is king in the world.. You! small businesses.. You will never be able to silence the disgruntled pedestrians.. I hearby call upon all mammals of Dublin City and visiting beasts of Limerick, do not accept the surcharge! Also, ask for water when you walk in, all the free sauces and all the kings men - I'm gonna shit up the walls in your restroom again.. and fill my bags with complimentary toilet paper! Maybe even a lucozade bottle of soap while I'm there.. Today, a valuable lesson was learned.. Small businesses are ready for you when you walk in the door, like lambs walking into a slaughterhouse.. how didn't we see it coming.. we all know the landlords have em all by the balls, so they gotta pass it on to us and squeeze you, we're at the bottom of a pile of sweaty men, and when it's lunch time, it's crunch time.. but now.. I'm pissing upstream.. Next stop is Bah33 for my wife's birthday.. all you can eat.. mother fcukers.. I'm coming for you.. I'm gonna eat the day before to stretch my stomach, then eat nothing on the day, just hit the park beforehand for a run and a doobskin. Is there a limit on how much tap water they'll allow you? Cos I'm filling up a 5L.. custom briefs to keep tight you take aways around your saucey ghoulies.. the revolution is here and will be televised! The revolution starts neigh! Speak out and cream out! I won't stop until all small businesses are shut and we're all cooking Nigella and ordering bulk meat on the Internet! Why eat out for 30 bills when you can spend that on poteen and kill your own venison in Phoenix Park! I'm telling ye, there's some quare things in Dublin- Between Howth and Crumlin, down in ringsend there's a 3 legged cat.

The brisket was tender, but I found it to have a lot of fat. The beans and mash were good, but not great. Keeping a high rating because it could just be my taste preference. Overall a great vibe
