Work was fine, but Kory Rupp the General Manager who is why I gave this review 1 star. Went in for very minor work on a fender which you had to get up on it and look at an angle to see how it was warped a little and he even said it was minor. He wrote the estimate for it and I thought it was kinda high, but never argued it because he said he could get it in right away. Then he calls one day and says the fender was damaged to much and cracked on the back so he just went ahead authorized more work and I could pick it up the next day and the price will now be over $200 more. I tried to go to the shop after work that same day and see the fender, but the secretary said he left to run a personal errand. I asked another estimator there if he could show me the fender and he would not let me see it. He said "I'D RATHER NOT DEAL WITH IT" I then went the next day to pick up the car and again Kory was not there. I asked to see the fender again and they said they didn't know if it was even still there. (This was the first warning sign. Why wouldn't anyone let me see the damage?) The secretary said he had to run another personal errand and he would be back in maybe 45 minutes, I asked if she could call him or if I could so we could talk about the price change. She really didn't want to. but I told her I was there to pick up my car and I didn't want to wait for him. She called him and gave me the phone. He told me the repair cost had changed and I told him I never tried to dispute the cost he quoted even though I thought it was high and I didn't think it was common practice to just change the cost without talking to the customer first and I had a check for the exact amount he quoted. He said he tried to call, but couldn't reach me and I said I work in a manufacturing building and it's had to get reception. I asked why didn't he text me or wait to talk to me and he said "WELL, DID YOU TELL ME TO TEXT YOU?" I said well, I didn't think you would just authorize work that would change the price without talking to your customer. There is where I could tell in his voice he was mad because his tone flipped alot like Night & Day and he said "YOU KNOW WHAT? GIVE YOUR CHECK TO THEM, TAKE YOUR CAR AND NEVER USE MY BUSINESS AGAIN" in a very stern voice. I just said ok and gave the phone back to the secretary. All this and another customer was in there just listening to me on the phone. I apologized to the secretary for putting her in the middle of this and that I just thought they would call if there was a change in price before authorizing work and she said "WE NORMALY DO" and the other customer heard that as well. So needless to say, I WILL NEVER USE McAbee Body Shop EVER AGAIN! read more

Went from being assured all was good & a feeling of being treated well to them doing damage and then messing me over. Treating me like dirt under their feet. Who am I talking about??? CARSTAR McAbee @ 313 SW Jackson Street. Topeka, KS. 66603. It's just great when someone hits your parked car and runs off. Your left to pay for their bad. $$$ As if that wasn't bad enough the guy I would normally use couldn't get me in. So, 9 months or so later I went to where my insurance company had originally sent me for an estimate. CARSTAR McAbee . After completing the job hired to do they detailed the car for me. How awesome I thought. Only one problem. They did damage to my car. They told me it was looking like it would be OK & IF I had ANY problem they would take care of it. After that I needed them a second time only this time I was treated not so well. When I told him of the damage showing back up that they had caused he said he would get me in then because it was warranty work. (This would cost them, not allow them to gain profit.) So, I waited until their apt time given to me. Was told they might have a cancellation and might be able to take care of my new issue along with the damage they caused. NICE right? I show up just to be treated worse than ever before & blamed for an area of damage they created while buffing. According to them who ever painted my car before did it wrong & therefore it is my fault that when they buffed my car damage occurred. To make matters worse Brian tells the manager I asked to have this done. He throws me under the bus to save his job I assume. WOW Nice way to treat a disabled woman guys. I wondered WHY my insurance company sent me elsewhere this time. WONDER who else they damaged.!!!! Not only that, every place else I considered CARSTAR McAbee verbally cut down & said their warranty or the quality of their work was not as good. WOW I really hope that is wrong or I will have to leave town to get my car repaired.. CARSTAR McAbee - I will let anyone who will listen know about WHAT YOU DID TO ME. Once again, McAbee has saved the day. More specifically, they saved my bumper...again. I can't speak to the driving competencies of most people, save to say they don't pay attention. I will say the folks at McAbee not only delivered superior work, for a second time, but they were just as courteous as the first. Seriously, not only they did clean the front interior (always a plus), but more importantly they're professional.
