McAlister's in Elgin has become a regular lunch spot for my family and me. It's consistently good, and that's something I take into consideration as repeat customers. There is even a location next to my work in Sumter I tend to go often with co-workers. I usually go with the classic sandwiches - my personal favorite is the McAlister's Club. The turkey, ham, bacon, and cheese, and the toasted bread has always been the best combination for my taste buds. My family members mentioned the Reuben is another solid choice here. Beyond the sandwiches, I like the variety on the menu. They have salads, soups, and even loaded baked potatoes along with a decent selection of sides, from potato salad to fruit (my typical choice). The service at this McAlister's is generally pretty good through the different locations I've dined at. The staff is usually friendly and efficient, even during peak hours. The Elgin restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, with a casual and comfortable atmosphere. I've never had a bad experience with the food or the service at least for the Elgin and Sumter locations. For a family friendly deli experience married with a consistent and reliable choice for a quick and tasty meal, Elgin McAlister's is definitely a winner in my book. One of my favorite lunches. Easy pickup service. Spud Max if you've never tried this loaded potato, it's a must have. Taste the quality of the ingredients in everything on the menu. I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. Humans make mistakes but I just hate it when it's with my food, Gahhh! I wish we could half our ratings sometimes. But anywho....here I go We wanted to try something different so we ordered from McAlister's, despite looking at the reviews. I'm in agreement with some points that have been made previously. I ordered a two (something can't think of the name) but it was a half Reuben with no sauerkraut (as pictured) and chili. The chili was amazing! The sweet tea was great as well. The Reuben....ehhh! Let me explain. I'm not 100% against Sauerkraut, but I'm also not a major fan. That is the reason why I didn't want it. I felt super comfortable when I saw that it was marked on my Sammy box, but I opened it and there it was, in all it's glory...SAUERKRAUT! At this point, we were home, so it was what it was. The sandwich wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I wanted. Plus, I just can't understand how you Mark a box one way but throw a sandwich in there another way! Tuh! The food is what you expect from the McAllisters but I have to say while I haven't always received the best service, it has improved. There is a little lady who wears a name tag listed as Memaw Leslie. She is the sweetest and most kind person. I will let people in front of me to go to other order takers just so I can say hi to her. She always remembers me and my two Littles and makes them feel special. We will drive by McAllister's now and the kids will say that's where our Memaw Leslie works. Can we stop and see Memaw Leslie? They absolutely love her because she makes them feel good too. McAlister's has a rockstar in Miss Leslie. They need more like her, and I hope they keep her and treat her well. read more

Came in after a busy lunch rush. Staff was frazzled but worked hard to ensure prompt service, quality food, and a positive environment.

Today on October 1, 2022 around 12:30 pm I went to McAlister's and ordered a Spicy Southwest Chicken Sandwich to go. After driving 20 minutes home I opened my sandwich and realized that I was given a Chipotle sandwich despite there being a tag on the box that read "Spicy SW Chicken." I immediately called the restaurant and spoke with the manager. I explained the situation and the manager gave me the options which were to either return the incorrect sandwicch and get the correct one or receive a refund. She made it very clear that if I did not return the incorrect sandwich I could not get another one. She also made it clear that she would not issue a refund if I returned to get the correct sandwich. Even after explaining to the manager that I'm pregnant, she failed to apologize or even seem to care about this huge inconvenience to a once loyal customer. I was very disappointed in the level of customer service I received today and will never eat at this establishment again. read more

McAlister is a great place to grab a sandwich. I'm unique when it comes to my sandwich so I love "create-your-own deli sandwich. I love corn beef on a croissant with Cheddar Cheese, honey mustard, onions, lettuce and sauerkraut on the side. My mouth waters as I describe it. The service here is exceptional and the level of professionalism is awesome. I recommend this spot. read more

This place used to be the place to go to back when they were located on Sparkleberry Lane. Very disappointed in the quality of the food. There have been several times where our orders were wrong. Either ingredients were missed or sides were forgotten. The sweet tea on the other hand is hands down the best! We love the sweet tea. I love getting the sweet chipotle chicken sandwich and for some reason the bbq sauce is missing... that's the best part of this sandwich it was just straight up cheese and chicken and bread & no pickle? Lol come on. The service is good but during lunch time it's crazy there is no one ever in the to go pick up line to help people with to go orders they definitely need more workers. read more

Probably the worst meal I have ever had, and I usually like McAlisters. The bread was so hard I couldn't even eat it. I had to break it off and then it crumbled to pieces. The meat was dry like beef jerky and tasted burnt. The only thing good was the tea. read more

Awful experience. So I placed my order, handed the young lady the money. Experience was good until she threw my change on the counter. Then one of the young men packing the food in bags proceeded to scratch her hair on the same counter the food was being prepared to be put in bags or on trays. No manners and no work ethic. I enjoyed our meal tonight at this McAlisters Deli on Two Knotch Rd.in Columbia SC. The service was good and the food was delicious. My only complaint with what we had tonight: I ordered half my spud plain and the other half with cheese and bacon. when it came to the table, half had cheese and the other half had bacon. i heard the description given to the cook at the time of the order, so i don't think the cook heard it right or got confused with the order. too bad, or i would have given this place 5 stars. we didnt get a request for a tea refill either which is common at these restaurants. but the food was delicious and cooked just right. read more

I did the Pick 2 and got the Veggie sandwich and southwest chicken avocado salad. The veggie sandwich was AMAZING with tons of flavor. I personally like meat so next time I'll add chicken onto it. The southwest chicken avocado salad was good, but nothing to die for. Restaurant was clean and had friendly service. This place is ridiculously bad. They can never get a to go order correct and when you say something to them about it, they catch an attitude. The latest order they left out the salad dressing for the salad and I went back to get it and waited for 10 minutes before a single employee even look at me standing at the counter. Even at that point I had to ask two different employees to help me and it took me starting to raise my voice before anyone would give me the time a day. The weekend manager should be fired. We called them to let them know we was here, waited 15 mins then the store called us twice and ask us about an order we didn't even have and told us they was going to be out with our food. Very rude manager and wait staff. Had to give food back twice as they left items out then gives the same sandwhich back with only the top half of bread the young lady in back yells at me that its only supposed to have two pieces of bread. I came here on 1/21 and it was busy for a typical Saturday night. It took forever to order our food. We waited in line for 10-15 minutes. Finally we placed our orders and for two the meal was $23.00. Two sandwiches and two drinks. Very over priced for the portions we received. I went to the restroom and it looked as if no one had came in there all day to clean it. I refused to use their restroom and just decided to hold it and wait till i got home. The customer service could have been better but this was McAlister's and not a Chick-fil-A. Maybe they could get some pointers from Chick-fil-A about customer service and quickness. But I'm not sure if I would return. read more

I am very impressed with this Deli! Not only do the have superb food, a superb location and superb customer service. They go above and beyond when it comes to the little things like remembering your special events such as birthdays,anniversaries, graduations and the like. My wife recently celebrated her birthday and McAlister's surprised her with a treat. I want to leave it a mystery so that you can find out for yourself when you visit them. While the ordering is your typical deli stand in line the young man behind the cash machine was unable to type in the order correctly. I was very impressed with the manager who when I brought this up took the extra time to correct and teach the employee. I was very impressed. She took care of the issue and the veggie club she brought out was fantastic. Great service, very good food, decent price. Good place to eat lunch or dinner. read more
