    Half water half lemonade

Service is friendly and professional and the food is ok but just that. not great, and too expensive for the quality and portions. Today we bought lunch for three and my son got Mac and cheese with his sandwich and I had the chili with mine. My wife got a salad and it seems she had the best thing. Our sandwiches were tasty, but mostly bread. I mean a lot of bread and very little inside. My sandwich was $10 bucks and for that in a rural midwest town I would expect much better. if I had gone to Subway, Firehouse Subs or Jimmy Johns I would have a longer sandwich and easily three times the stuff inside. My son made a point fo complaining about it too. Good tasting sandwich and bread, only far too much bread and next to nothing inside. Over the last year, we have tried them several times from carbide pickup to eating outside or eating inside. The service is consistent and prompt and I have no issues regarding that. However, each time we have ordered several things are unavailable, popular yet ordinary items that any smart manager would have planned better and kept regular staple items in stock. For example they promote an extensive baked potato menu and it all sounds great but twice we came in and they had run out of potatoes! I mean if you were getting low run down to the store and buy a bag, how hard is that. You should never run out of basic menu items unless you have poor management.

I had the pecan berry salad. The strawberries were fresh as were the blueberries. However, the cashier forgot to ask if I wanted Spring greens or spinach. There was a bit too much iceberg in my "mixed greens". No iceberg is pictured in the advertising photo. The dressing was scrumptious, almost too-sweet, though. The bathrooms were a bit disgusting along with the faded fake flowers on the sink. I do love the chocolate chip cookies and the unsweetened tea is brewed perfectly, of course. My partner loved the chicken club, and the parmesan kale soup is very good. Overall 3 star rating. I could possibly change this to a 4 star rating upon overall improvement in the future.

    Crab & Corn Chowder

Ordered a cup of the "Crab & Corn Chowder". Big mistake. Never again. Why? Because the crab was krab (the fake stuff - surimi...definition:"Surimi"ground meat") refers to a paste made from fish or other meat. It can also refer to a number of East Asian foods that use that paste as their primary ingredient. It is available in many shapes, forms, and textures, and is often used to mimic the texture and color of the meat of lobster, crab, grilled Japanese eel and other shellfish." credit wikipedia. Menu said 'crab'. It was not 'crab'. Good flavor & spicy good, but not worth the money spent. I am guessing it was less than a cup measurement. The corn population was diminished too. Not much to enjoy in volume or 'advertised ingredients'. My mistake. Can get better stuff in a can in a grocery store. Unhappy diner. Oops me.

Super delicious, hot and fresh! Got everything super fast and deliverer was super kind!

This is a full order of Mac and Cheese. Rip off!!! And taste like hot garbage.

This is one of the better McAlisters in the four state area. Hot fresh food and friendly employees. Very clean restaurant.

Instead of listening and getting all sides of the story or giving a written warning of any sorts they were both fired for voicing their concerns. Firing two people based on a he said she said situation is absolutely unacceptable, especially since they seemed to be short staffed already and cannot get a sandwich made in a decent time for the life of them.

As usual, the product I got was a sloppy version of the one on tv, but I admit it was excellent. The turkey met, stuffing and cranberry sauce were all top notch. The big problem is its hard to handle and eat without the filling falling out. I had them hollow out the roll to prevent the problem and it didnt work. The sub arrived piping hot (good thing) but due to the moisture from turkey and stuffing it made the roll limp. Even cut in half it was a challenge to handle without the filling falling out. Price for a large was $15 but after rounding up for firefighters and 10% tip my cosy was just under $18. Expensive but will easily feed 2 people

There are so many things to comment on it's hard to know where to start. Panara, over the last 5-10…read moreyears continues to go downhill, not just in this location, but the entire chain. Skimpy ingredients, making the bread thicker to cover up for a lack of ingredients, cutting back on bakery items, and/or removing the bakery display in some stores. Changing the format to be more like a fast food chain, with very bright stores, loud dining rooms, and an environment that discourages one of the biggest reasons people come to Panera; it was a nice comfortable place to relax, hang out, read a book, and maybe do some homework. This new location is bright, clean, and shiny. On the surface, it seems like a great refresh but stay a little while and notice all they have taken away to make it a less-than-desirable place to be. It's basically a Panda or mall food court fast food shop now. The new location is much smaller than the last one on 32nd. It's cramped, very loud, and overly bright. Not conducive to relaxed conversation, doing homework, or hanging out with friends. I'm guessing it's a design decision. Make it less comfortable, sterile, and harsh to turnover faster and try to capitalize on a faster churn of customers. The new tech to get your order is overly complicated and slows things down. Sometimes the simple way is best. They now give you a device that is supposed to light up to help signal the wait staff where to take the food. Simply put, it's a failure. The staff tries to hide it though. On one side under a lip, is a tiny LED screen with an order number. The staff try and read it casually and try to not be noticed but that is how they are getting the order to the table instead of the large plastic or paper table numbers they used to use that the staff could read from across the whole dining room. The surfaces are all bright and hard; hard chairs, floors, walls, etc. That is to further encourage you to eat quickly and go away. Not the format Panera was built on. Instead, you end up with a less comfortable seat and a lot of very loud ambient noise. Everything is designed to move you along and alienate the core customers who have kept Panera going for years. The tables are smaller, and much closer together, again encouraging people to eat and move along and don't bring too many friends with them. The bakery section in most Panera's in the past had a large display area with breads, bagels, and other baked items. Well presented and ready to be sold. This location has a much smaller display case with very little in it. Behind the counter the baskets of bread and bagels are gone, replaces with proofing racks normally kept in the kitchen. They are ugly and another example is that they want you out fast and no longer want to be a place people come frequently or hang out. Also more typical of Panera, half the menu is out of stock. We have been coming to the Joplin location for seven years, and despite the shortcomings, there is not a lot of competition if you want a good sandwich or soup. And every single time we come, we order and they say they are out of this or that. Every single time. Clearly poor inventory management. And they can't blame COVID, it's been this way for years. So we come to the new location and try and order, Tried to order a sandwich on the new ones they have giant backlit posters all over the store advertising, nope, they don't have the ingredients to make any of them. I try a normal regular sandwich they always carry, and nope, only have half of what it takes to make it. How about soup, I wanted the French Onion soup, sure thing but no cheese, and so it went. I settled on the Turkey Bacon on Tomato bread, it comes out with bread measurably cut over an inch and a quarter thick per slice, It's a heavy bread and I guess that was supposed to make up for the paper-thin tomato and nearly nothing else in-between. Still, it was so thick I could barely take a bite of it. We ordered one whole sandwich, and two cups of soup, my wife had the Teriyaki bowl and we each had a regular drink. That was $45 bucks before the tip. At least they now have a drive-thru. Come on Panera, do better get back to your roots.
