For a national chain restaurant that is more fast casual than old-school deli, McAlister's Deli is a decent enough place to grab a sandwich. This particular location is conveniently not far off of the highway, so it was a quick stop where I had a quick enough meal and got back on my way. The service was friendly and professional. I came here just about every week for a year while working in New Albany and can honestly say it's one of the few places I didn't get sick of (or from) during my time. There are probably 15-20 tables inside and then a handful of outdoor seating options and they were just about always at capacity when I came. Staff were friendly and very accommodating to my team's dietary needs/restrictions. I typically got one of their grilled sandwiches, but their soups and salads are pretty good too! Let me start this off by saying I do not complain I do everything to avoid it and i used to love this location and ate here about once a month but this must be addressed. I am legally blind. With only 20% vision in one eye. I can only see colors and shapes and use apps and magnifiers to help me see I am a fall risk when it comes to handling Food and drink. I ordered McAllister's tableside service on the app for this reason. When the waitress brought me my food, I just happen to be on the phone She set my food down really hard but I ignored it because I thought that maybe I was being rude by being on the phone. I told her thank you politely anyway. I ordered a tea separately that was unsweet to be brought to my table without my knowledge they got a new drink machine to where you had to go get it yourself I didn't know that. The waitress brought me my cup, and very rudely slammed it down on the table empty of course I was confused and turned my head to ask her about it before I could even speak she snickers at me and Rudely says I have to get it myself and laughs at me running away before I could even find out where the drink machine is I asked her as she's leaving. Where is it and she just hollers over there I get up to the counter where I tell them that I'm blind and at this point I'm so humiliated that when they finally offered to help I just tried to do it myself another customer had to help me because I couldn't see and even she looked appalled at the behavior. I left feeling so upset and humiliated i had someone to speak with the manager, Donna Cobb because I was in literal tears and the manager basically said that I was lying, and that never happened because she witnessed the whole thing but if she witnessed the whole thing why didn't she come to help me? Why didn't she stop her employee from being so rude? She apologized after profusely being told off about disabilities And how upset I was. I won't be returning and if you're disabled don't bother going here either because they might make fun of you for something you can't help and gaslight you in to believing youre the problem. My mother and I get food to-go from McAlister's often , sometimes twice a week. I usually get the McAlister's Club , my mother gets the New Yorker. We have enjoyed our meals, fresh product and appropriate temperature. FYI I was told that they no longer serve Chocolate Lovin' Spoonful Cake ( I'm not positive if it's only at the New Albany location or if it's the whole chain). Great food, Great service! I routinely eat at McAlister's Deli in New Albany. The food is consistently great, and I love the Southwest Chicken sandwich. The atmosphere is friendly & comfortable, too. They truly have something for any appetite, and will welcome you & treat you like family. One other bonus: They've switched out their plastic bags for paper, they sandwiches come in biodegradable cardboard & they have really minimized any plastic waste involved in carryout. I would write a longer review if we had eaten here. We got there during off hours on a rainy night, and we were the first people in line behind two different parties at the counter. And we waited. And we waited. And we waited... No one ever acknowledged us or said they'd be right with us. When one of the clerks was open, a woman emerged from somewhere and stepped in line in front of us and asked for something small for a previous order. We saw then that it wasn't just the regular orders that took forever, but even the small requests. We walked out to find a different restaurant IN THE RAIN. They can be busy during Sunday lunch. I've generally had good service here. Not exactly a local place, they're part of a regional franchise. Good sandwiches, really good baked potatoes, and good soups. Chocolate Lovin' Spoon cake is a tasty dessert (big enough for 2, be prepared). I placed an order from their curb-side pickup parking places, through the McAlister's website. At checkout, I was asked to provide my phone number and make & model of my car. After waiting forty minutes, I finally called to find out what was taking so long with the order. Apparently it had been ready, but they never bothered LOOKING OUT THEIR LARGE WINDOWS to see if my car was parked there, or called to notify me that my order was ready. What is the point of providing vehicle information and phone number if the staff cannot take the logical step of putting the information to use. They specifically told me they do not call customers.... Fine. At least walk the 20 feet to where your curbside delivery is to check if the make and model car, which is printed in the receipt, is there. Absolutely lousy customer service. read more

Placed a curbside order pickup from their app. Instead of notifying me when I made the order, they waited until my arrival to tell me they didn't have one of the items and I would need to substitute. After I made an alternate selection they started preparation of my rather large order. I waited outside for 25 minutes, before going in to find out when my order would be ready. Very disappointed in this McAlisters. I ordered a to-go and expected the meal to be exactly as the menu stated it would be. My sandwich was pitifully smaller than usual, with absolutely nothing on it but a slice of chicken and cheese- no sauce, no lettuce or tomatoes. TASTED TERRIBLE. There were two people ahead of me complaining as well. People don't want to pay money for food they could throw together at home. Please do better. read more

Dirtiest restaurant I have ever seen. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon at 3:00 and it was filthy. Over half the tables had dirty dishes and cups on them the other half had crumbs and food on them. It looked like a trash can blew up in the middle of this dump. The amount of food and crumbs under the tables was just incredible, it looked like it had not been swept in days. No surprise, the bathroom was also filthy. I would give 0 stars but because the staff was nice I will give one. On 3/21/2016 a Monday we checked in the hotel and headed to McAlisters around 9:15 pm -ish. My husband ordered a Ruben Sandwich. Got back to the hotel and took a bite of the sandwich. My husband complain the sandwich was hard as heck! Husband open up the sandwich, the "Bread was burnt black around the edges and hard in-middle". The guy who made the sandwich turn the Burnt Bread inside out! You "couldn't" tell it was Burnt Black from the outside. I ordered the Savanah Salad, it was pile high with lettuce and minimum toppings. "Stop hiring kids to make the food because they don't care about your customers." This food suck! This kid knew that bread was burnt! Oh, I uploaded the picture. read more

This is a catering review. Best service I've had in a long time. I will continue to use this McAllister's to cater lunches as much as possible. I accidentally ordered lunch from the wrong McAllister's and the owner drove it almost an hour out of his way to deliver it for me - superb customer service!!! After a long day of driving in the rain, my husband and son offered to bring dinner back to the hotel for me. I ordered a Reuben. I took a bite and it was so dry I almost choked. I opened the sandwich and it was missing Sauerkraut and Thousand Island, my favorite parts of the sandwich. It was already close to 9 pm. I was too exhausted to return to McAlister's. But, as my husband said, the ingredients are listed under the sandwich description, how can they mess it up? The rye bread, which had burnt, solid black cheese, contained two of the four ingredients listed. So, they only got half of the ingredients on there and they burnt and hid the burnt parts. Half of the ingredients is a failing grade in anyone's book. One thing I usually love about McAlister's (and they closed the one near my home) is the quality and the sandwiches that aren't on most restaurants' menus. It stinks when you look forward to eating something you haven't had in ages and it is too messed up to eat. I had to throw it away. We stopped here and both of us ordered choose 2 . My wife ordered garlic herb roast beef and a cup of broccoli soup. The roast beef 1/2 sandwich had 2 slices of overcooked roast beef on it. It looked nothing like the picture on the menu. The soup was very good. I had 1/2 a sandwich of pastrami on white with spicy mustard. There was very little meat on the sandwich it was sliced paper thin and like i said very little meat. The cup of soup was very good. But the sandwiches meat left quite a bit to be desired.
