The light was still original, it was working last week, and that compartment had never been opened before. The wire was bright, shiny copper. It was clear it had just broken. They charged me $35, gave me a reject sticker, and told me they couldn't do anything. The kids doing my inspection were fresh out of highschool. Now I will have to pay probably $200 to get the wire fixed and I still don't have my inspection. Go somewhere with real mechanics and save yourself the potential problems.

I had the car towed to Carpinello's, having been told it was a family-run repair shop. I explained that I'd like to get it running if possible but by no means wanted to undertake expensive repairs. When they failed to get in touch with me in the course of the day, I went to the shop and stayed in the waiting room for several hours to make sure I was available to discuss the work, but I never got more than vague reports about what was up and never had the chance to speak with the mechanic directly. In fact they simply replaced parts until they found what was wrong, and presented me a bill nearly three times what I had set as a maximum. When I protested, the owner was rude, vulgar, and ultimately threatening--said he would yank the new parts out of the car and leave me push it off his property. With no idea what to do (I've never had so unpleasant an experience with a merchant) I called the local police. The officer I spoke with told me that the shop had a bad reputation and suggested another garage. Ultimately I signed the car over to them rather than pay the bill, which was more than what I had paid for the car. In a final indication of the ethics of the operation, the owner's wife said as I filled out the paperwork that the good news was they wouldn't have to disclose to a potential buyer that the car failed emissions because of the way they obtained it. I don't go around trashing people--I think this is the only bad on-line review I've ever written--but I've never been so badly treated by a business. As you could imagine, I have a rather dim view of how most dealerships operate. While searching for vehicles on the Internet recently I stumbled on a 2013 Tahoe in the Bedard Chevy used inventory. During a visit I reviewed the vehicle and it fit my needs rather well. I was looking for particular options for a long time and this vehicle had them. The Tahoe was also the cleanest and less abused of all that I had considered. The sales person, Heather was extremely helpful and low pressure. The next day we made a deal that I was happy with. Upon delivery of the vehicle I discovered a malfunction with the Tahoe's heated driver's seat. Heather was exceptionally responsive in getting the problem fixed, as was the service department. I can't say enough about the apparent honesty and integrity of the Bedard folks I worked with, right down to the courtesy of the drivers who delivered my vehicle to my house!!! It takes a lot for a company to earn my trust. Bedard has done so. No baloney, No BS, No excuses. Bedard is a low pressure, low hype dealership. It was worth the drive and I live over 1 hour away. I'll be certain to recommend Bedards to all of my friends.

I asked to take the car out for a second test drive and his answer was that the car was going to sell (multiple buyers interested) and he would not allow me to test drive it again. Not the way I would treat a customer who had driven a considerable distance to try to buy a car from me. It was New Year's Eve, and I was worried that nobody would be open, and we would be without a vehicle until as long as Tuesday, making us late getting home. I tried to find a shop we could get to, that was open at 2PM. Not only were these guys open, but they agreed to try to fit us in if they could. They repaired our vehicle in around 2 hours. Being a tourist, I was concerned about what they would charge us for this emergency service, but I really didn't have a choice. The mechanic was truly a gentleman. He thoroughly explained what needed to be done, only fixed what we needed fixed, and their rates we definitely reasonable. They turned a bad day and horrible situation into something manageable, and we were able to continue on and have a great night. I'm not a local, and I doubt I will be back, but I wish everyone conducted their business with as much kindness and class as these guys.
