My husband's wheelchair was not charging. Kaiser Permanente's new wheelchair service company (they discontinued NuMotion) told me six weeks! That's right, six weeks!!! started making calls and someone suggested McCanns. we had purchased a scooter there several years ago and were extremely pleased with their customer service. Friendly staff with great customer service. They helped me get some fairly obscure therapy that most other pharmacies don't carry, plus they have a good selection of medical products (IV supplies, wound care, durable medical equipment [DME], crutches/canes, walkers, wheelchairs, etc.). I can see why they have a dedicated set of patients that look like they've been coming here for decades. The only downside is it can be hard to reach a real person in the pharmacy by phone. McCann's will be my new go to for any medical supplies! I just my foot and couldn't find a knee scooter for rental as they seem to be in crazy high demand. I called McCann's and spoke with Jim, he took down my number so he could go look around for me. After 5 minutes he called back and said he found one that I could pick up right away! After meeting him when picking up the scooter, I knew right away based on his friendly personality that this would be a place I'll come back to. Upon returning the scooter, he remembered who I was and said he was happy to see me back walking. Can't recommend them enough purely based on the beat customer service! read more

McCann's Medical is awesome. The staff wears masks to protect clients. The staff are very knowledgeable, facilitative, and concerned about what's the best product is for their clients with disabilities. Somehow I had managed to assemble a brand new Nova walker incorrectly, whereby one of the legs was totally stuck and I brought it in to McCann's Medical to be serviced. After much effort, Rob was able to get the stuck leg out and assemble the walker properly. McCann's Medical new location is larger, handicapped accessible, and has more medical supplies available than the old store. Poor selection of wheelchairs and other medical equipment. They have very basic stuff that I don't recommend...

What can I tell you. I am in a medical supply store to buy compression stockings. I would have thought I would have at least had to be 50 years old for something like this. It all started in the month of March. I got a DVT also known as Deep Vein Thrombosis. AKA/ A blood clot in my leg. Can I say that totally sucked for want of a more eloquent way to put it. I couldn't walk for about two weeks and such. The aftermath is edema (swelling) in the leg. So, I must buy my first pair of support stockings. A lady at Costco recommended McCann's as a place to buy items for seniors (ok, after I got over that remark) I went down there and they do have quite the selection of hosiery as well as many other types of crutches, walkers and such. They special ordered a pair of stockings from their Gresham store and they arrived the next day. I'm expecting another pair tomorrow from Seattle. They made having to buy a necessary item bearable. read more

I rented an ice machine at the Tigard location on March 22, 2024. They didn't have a knee cuff to go with it. They called 3 other locations, no luck. Ginny gave me a shoulder pad to use for my knee replacement surgery and said it should work. It didn't. I arranged the rental March 11 so they should have had everything together for me when i picked it up on March 22. I had to buy an ice machine to use for my recovery. I really wanted to attend a pretty big deal ball but was really wrestling with the logistics because I am fine until I am not and I am told I need to take it easy which I do not. I am recovering from two damaged ankles and will be doing great until I get woozy from pain or just the injuries - our bodies get tired and stamina is a thing FYI. So when my body tells me I need to sit right now it is already too late. So I tend to avoid anything where I will need to be walking a large volume etc unless I have some control - aka grocery cart etc. Canes only do so much and walkers are a logistical nightmare. A lot of places like the art museum to see the exhibits have wheelchairs either manual or electric you can borrow but events do not. Having experience years past where I did rent a wheelchair, I knew this was an option and decided to do this again. Last time I did not pick it up or return it and this time I did it all myself. I called ahead and they saved me a seat, Hahahaha...bad I know... But they sure did and even delayed it a few days since with their hours and location and my work schedule it was a touch tricky to get there. They are just a bunch of kind people trying to help out. The rental was still $55 per month. I was trying to get there during the weekend to return it and just could not make it happen so I was a few days in and they did not even charge me for the extra time. There was not even a discussion about it...again, they just make it so easy to do business. I imagine they see some pretty rough circumstances and things people have going on which are causing whatever bodily device they are needing. I know I get exhausted before even making some calls on medical drama because it is just challenging so I beyond appreciate people on top of their game trying to just get you what you need. They have a location in Hillsboro too and I have to say that their stock of helpful devices and such is pretty amazing though I have just rented a wheelchair. They really look to be a great resource - getting put into an ADA situation suddenly is pretty overwhelming and figuring ways toward better mobility are a challenge - I had an occupational therapist testing products and helping me order the right things while I was still in the hospital. It is amazing how many items are available to assist though. read more

I scheduled a medical device rental online and paid for delivery. I received the confirmation email and was charged, but never received the delivery. I called and left a voice mail and did not get a callback. I am disputing with my credit card company now and left a second voicemail. read more

I had to cancel a wheelchair rental during the 11th hour due to my boss canceling her trip due to a health issue. The wheelchair rental was out for delivery when I called. They are not charging my boss a cent for canceling at the last minute. Incredible. read more

I'm mainly giving a review on the POST OFFICE, located in the back of this store. The store has a nice selection of your typical pharmacy and toiletries as well as a great card selection! I think it's a bit overpriced however. But the ladies who work the Post Office are super kind and helpful; I drive out of my way to go here when I need to mail a package! read more

There isn't a better place to go for prescriptions and/or medical equipment. It's one of the only family-owned pharmacies around and their prices are every bit as good as other places (I compare prices). The staff there is amazing--couldn't be more helpful. When I had knee surgery, they helped me get together everything I needed, including a walker and a cane. They "fit" me for the cane and showed me how to use it properly. Oh my gosh this store has well as Gresham and Hillsboro has everything you could ever need, especially for your elderly parents. I purchased a hospital bed, a Walker, a automatic chair lift, as well as accessories for my mom's Walker. Additionally I have used their repair services they are not only punctual but all of their pricing is so fair. Shout out to John and Sherry for all of their excellent customer service and help. This is a very late review. During the Summer and Fall of 2018 my father's health was failing fast. We bought lots of personal care supplies over the months and staff recommendations were very helpful. I went in and walked around to see if the items I need were available. There were several staff behind the counter and in the 15+ minutes I was there no one ever acknowledged I was even there, asked it they could help me, said I'll be with you in a minute...NOTHING!!!!! 5 stars for the front half of the store. Zero stars so far for the Pharmacy. A few years ago when caring for my parents in their 90's, McCanns was the GO TO store for walkers, power lift recliners, specialized bathroom equipment and medical equipment. By all appearances, it still is. But after a recent press review of pharmacy drug prices,had my Physician e mailed in an important prescription at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon. McCanns cannot be held accountable for the massive Pacific Highway traffic on a Friday afternoon but I would have thought they would have immediately noticed they did not have this drug in stock. You would think wrong. And when I arrived in person, you might think they would immediately tell me this item was unavailable. You would think wrong. After completing McCann's new patient information form (never had that required before) you would think the counter girl could immediately tell me my required drug was not in stock. You would think wrong. After waiting 10 minutes for the pharmacist to fill the out of stock prescription, you MIGHT think the pharmacist would suggest an alternative dose (cut in half tablet) or come out front to explain why that dosage is unavailable but offer some alternative nearby pharmacy that has it in stock. You might think wrong. Note: Prescriptions are no longer written on PAPER which can be easily taken to a different pharmacy. The nice counter person explained they would FOR SURE have it available the next (Saturday) morning and would call me. Any guesses at what you should expect? At 4 pm, I called them. Would you expect a human to answer their phone or get a phone tree? Would you expect a prompt reply call back? Or would you expect them to close at 5 pm on Saturday after my second trip down Pacific Highway? Or would you believe McCann's website that SAYS they will open Sunday morning at 10:00 am? Well, the front of the store does open at 10am Sunday but NOT the pharmacy (different hours NOT listed). I really wanted to comply with my physician's orders but I have made a serious mistake. No doubt Walgreens, Bi Mart, Fred Meyer could easily find my prescription at another store. NOT SO with McCanns. The nice and understanding employee (Michael) that mans the front of McCann's pharmacy listed politely while I explained my THREE unnecessary trips, the inability to transfer my prescription, the failure to reply, the false promises and frustration when trying to deal with the pharmacy. NOW any bets "JEFF" (lead pharmacist) will actually follow up? STay tuned. For the record: This is NOT a potential life saving prescription.... but it might have been. If it was, likely McCann's Pharmacy would soon have a new name....of my heirs. read more

I recently moved across country and I needed an IM injection of a prescription of mine. My stock of needles and syringes were still in transit and I needed another syringe and needle. I went to McCann's and asked what sizes they have. I like the smaller needles because I am an absolute wimp when it comes to these things. I knew something was wrong when they kept coming back and asking me questions, requiring me to fill out unnecessary forms etc. The pharmacist came around and finally told me they cannot sell me syringes without first filling a prescription that requires a syringes. "It is against federal law" was the direct quote from the licensed pharmacist. I was pretty sure that was a hot load of BS because I have purchased syringes in other states without having to present a new prescription. So I went home and checked the laws on this topic in Oregon. Syringes and needles are offered over the counter in Oregon ( i.e., no prescription required. I verified this with multiple pharmacists around the greater Portland area. THE PHARMACIST LIED RIGHT TO MY FACE. I offered to bring my filled prescription bottle in, I offered the prescribing physicians contact info, I offered to bring in my passport - she could have told me the truth behind whatever reason she didn't sell me syringes, but no. She lied. One has to ask what other false medical information she might be providing to patients? She reminds me of one of those pharmacists who refuse to fill birth control prescriptions to single women for moral reasons. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I was send directly from my orthopedic surgery because of my bum hip and upcoming travel plans. A very nice man named Al talked to me a bit, and had all sorts of suggestions. After questioning me and trying several medical assistance devices, he came up with the option on 2 canes. This is a huge improvement over crunches. They clearly care for their clients. This place is much more than a pharmacy and medical supplies store, it's a people place. I saw several customers being attended to my sales clerks in a kind and respectful way. This type of mom and pop business is an endangered species. If you appreciate their personalized care, shop regularly. Otherwise Walmart will put every independent pharmacy of business. This is a wonderful drugstore. As far as know stores like this no longer exist in the Seattle area. So glad I popped in to drop off a package at the post office inside. While I was there I was able to get my uncle his vitamins, travel sizes of toiletries and chocolates. They have a large medical equipment department, a pharmacy and lots of cards, gifts and a candy counter with locally made candies sold by the piece. The people here are so nice. A helpful employee walked right up and found me a chair at the front of the store and brought all the items right to me. Very kind and helpful. I came here looking for Iwalk 2.0 hands-free crutch. They had display model which I was able to use in the store. Once I decided to make the purchase I found out that they did not have any in stock but I could buy the floor model. The floor model did not come with a discount. In fact it was more expensive than ordering directly from the company even with shipping and handling. The gentleman who help me was nice. They do have a lot of items in the store but when it came just want to take your item I felt like I got ripped off. read more

Bad service, employees who are less than competent at their lies, and an owner who proimissed follow-through but fails to deliver. Really not worth the trouble. We went here because they were recommended by OHSU as a place to purchase the compression stockings my wife's doctor had prescribed. My wife's doctor had to fax the Rx to them 3 times, and they could never find it. The employees seemed less than willing to help, just saying it was the dr's fault. Their lack of concern for what had happened to my wife's medical information should have been enough for me to go somewhere else. Its my own fault.. when I caught an employee in a blatent lie, I should have known better. But, the owner Matthew McCann finally got involved. He said he would make sure it was all taken care of, and even give me a discount for all the trouble. Okay, sounded great. But the follow-up? Non existent. In fact, I had to call back two times to finally find someone who knew where the order was. When I went in to pickup the order, the "discount" was a few dollars off. I later discovered that I could have purchased the same medical equipment online for less than the discount total.. but that's another issue. Finally, I made my purchase using my FSA card. But guess what... this store is so antiquated, they have nothing better than a cash-register receipt that shows nothing more than the price paid. So of course my purchase has been denied by the benefits company, and I have to re-imburse out of pocket... just because this crummy place is still stuck in 1982. Sorry, I wanted to like them. I wanted to use a local business that I could trust with my wife's considerable medical needs, but that just is NOT this place. I can't express my dissapointment and disgust with this company enough... a process that should have been quick and easy took nearly 4 weeks to complete, and not at all a satisfactory outcome. read more

This place is awesome. I live in Atlanta and was in town visiting friends when my scooter charger broke. Thankfully they were open on Saturday and fixed not only the charger but also a handful of other things that were wrong on it, all at no charge. I have been paying them $55mo for a wheelchair rental for 8 mos. ($440). I noticed on their website that the chair I'm renting is $250 (Invacare Tracer SX5 Manual Wheelchair). When I called today to find out why I'm still paying for the chair, they told me that even though I had given them $440 toward a USED chair that they sell for $250 new, they still would not give me the chair unless I paid for another 5 mos because I had not switched the plan over in the first month!!! They actually had the balls to say, not only are we not giving it to you, but you'd have to pay ANOTHER $275!! Again, they sell the NEW chair for $250!!! Yet they won't give me the USED chair after I've paid $190 MORE than what it costs for a NEW chair! The guy on the phone clearly realized it was rediculous policy and terrible business values towards disabled people no less. There's no excuse for this kind of rip off. Shameful shameful.
