The first guy to make a hook for me was an old German fellow who shared an accent with Hermann Goering, and who's small workshop was full of plaster molds of shattered limbs, and their recreations, in various stages of completeness. Over the years, as with everything else, corporate holding companies have been quietly buying up the little independent prosthetics shops, and changing them to look and feel like a doctors office. You make an appointment, check in at the glass partitioned front counter, sit in a badly decorated waiting room until someone calls your name and takes you back to another room where you wait some more. Oregon Artificial Limb Company feels friendly when you walk in the door. There is no glass partitioned counter to report to; you don't need to take a number. The office door is open, and you just walk in. The office staff are very nice and helpful. My prosthetist of twenty-five years comes to the front and greets me by name. We chat a bit and catch up before getting down to business. My first time there, I was given a tour of the shop, introduced to all of the craftspersons, and shown all the ways they will customize my hook. I really like this place. I like the guys in the shop. Building a prosthetic is a craft. Each one is custom built to not only the needs but the lifestyle of each person, and the faceless corporate conglomerate does not lend itself to the inter-personal nature of the craft. Oregon Artificial Limb Company never turns anyone away because they can't pay. I like that too.

Josue has helped me dial in many frames fits to fit me just right. He is super patient with getting minor adjustments just right so I'm extremely comfortable in the fit of glasses. He also has several tricks for getting frames to expand to fit, which is super clutch for someone with a larger head. Dr. Schmitt will spend time with you to go over all the results of your exam in detail, showing you imaging of your eye and explain what it means, for both eye health and oil glands. He also takes his time to get your vision prescription just right so you get the clearest vision possible. He's a wealth of knowledge for treating dry eye too, and they offer some of the most up to date treatments including IPL, Prokera and LipiFlow. I would definitely recommend going in ASAP if your struggling with dry eye, as treating it is easier before you lose oil function permanently. I've been super happy with their prescription lenses using Trivex, which are noticeably clearer than the polycarbonate lenses from chains like LensCrafters. If you wear glasses I would definitely recommend getting your prescription lenses made here.

How can you trust a dr adding extra fees with made up billing codes? Its dishonest they create bogus charges such as "wellness assessment" what's the whole point of a visit? When I got the new glasses ,I could not see things near me in my car. My screen, text, etc. So I said I think prescription wrong. Went in and they said we will check with the doc. Doc said told you that would happen. Uummmm no you did not. I wrote a owner /manager ,she said we believe our doc not you....Two:bought brand new Oakley glasses and they brought out with a cheap Nike plastic glass holder. The first time I got a nice Oakley case. I emailed and said my second appointment went really well but cheap case can I get a Oakley case? Unfortunately no response. Third: Oakley glasses had a issue with the ear sleeves wearing out. I called and asked if I can buy parts needed. A guy answered and said sir your parts are all under warranty. If parts not available you get new frames!I was excited about the great service ...... never got another callback for parts three months later. So sad .
