Absurd and outrageous policy!…read more I had a sad experience happened with my father while he was a resident of one the Marquis' long term facilities. I am not going to discuss now Marquis' MEDIOCRE and often UNACCEPTABLE care and service . I would like to concentrate on the ridiculous, so called " restraints" policy. Some "wise"person among Marquis' management decided that railings on beds, medical mittens, etc. considered restraints and it is also violations of human rights and/or maybe dangerous for patients' health ( cannot believe such a care! Yes,right! NONSENSE!) or who knows what was the real reason for creating such a ludicrous policy. For example, it is better according to the Marquis " restraints" policy that a patient falls out of bed (no railings ) or tears down oxygen nasal cannula (a person is after stroke and does not realize what he does ) , but the " restraints" policy is fulfilled by the staff. OK, I understand Marquis is a private company and the owners can create any farcical policy and you as a client have a choice to accept it or to decline it. The problem here is that before we agreed to move in my father in one of the Marquis' buildings, the "glorious" company did not mention this policy to us which had bad consequences for my father. I do not know, not mentioning of this absurd policy was done on purpose and that it is usual practice to get patients without giving out full information in advance ?...

I was able o get in touch with the sweetest, most comforting & knowledgeable on-call hospice nurse I've ever come across at 10:30pm! Her name, I think, was Sonia. As comforting as our conversation was it was also educational. She reassured me that picking a hospice is like buying a car. If you don't like it you move on to the next until you find one to suit your needs. She empowered me & encouraged me--SO wasn't expecting it to be such an uplifting call. I can tell with this short encounter that my grandfather will be in the hands of some amazing & smart angel nurses & loving care I doubt I could find anywhere else. My grandpa also is not English speaking & she told me they have some nurses available that do speak our language & are familiar with our culture. I wish she could be my personal nurse every day to speak encouraging things to me every day! We haven't even entered with their program & I love it it already. Before searching anywhere else for hospice--coming from an anxious & worried granddaughter-- please give Comfort Hospice a call first. They literally answer your call at ungodly hours like I called & they don't even mind.
