I chose to purchase mulch from the McCarty business because the staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable. I didn't purchase anything special or large... just some fill dirt and topsoil. It was just normal and you could even say a small purchase. And, so, why would I bother to give them a 5 star review? Truthfully, the real reason I bothered is because they sent me a thank you note for my small business. That - and it was truly, actually, physically signed and addressed by a live, real person. I want to support local business, and I believe local and small businesses provide better service. They have the potential to truly meet the needs of clients and are the backbone of our communities. It's a decent place to get landscaping supplies at a very competitive price. The office staff is cordial and helpful in knowing about and navigating their products. We had ordered bulk stone from them previously as well as bulk mulch. After several phone conversations I thought we had our calculations right regarding the mulch, but we didn't. I am still a bit befuddled as to what really happened. The discrepancies were not questioned or caught during the finalization of the order (after a few phone calls) and we ended up with way too much. I am still unclear if the previous conversations were noted in their file. I am only aware of the last contact being documented before closing the sale. We ended up with at least three times more than what we needed, so we ended up getting real creative,.... and after much effort, we were able to work it into the current landscaping. Like life, it's always - live and learn. Sage advice: Make sure you give them the proper dimensions, and then check, double check, triple check, (and maybe even quadruple check them), just to be sure. Have used McCarty for a number of years. Mostly for yearly mulch delivery, but also for compost, top soil and straw bale delivery. I'm pretty sure one year they delivered both soil and mulch in a truck that had dividers. They are always on time and the delivery drivers are very good. I've ordered hardwood mulch and economy mulch and have always been happy with the look. I've also picked up stone and pine straw bales myself from their facility in my little truck. Never felt intimidated going there by myself as a woman, even the time I used my sedan to get stepping stones. They will help load your car if needed. read more

Just finishing the construction of two large raised beds for vegetables and needed something a grade up from plain topsoil to fill them. Called several places, but Mccarty's had what I needed: a compost-topsoil blend. Took care of everything by phone, Jennifer was very helpful, advising that I already had the right size tarps for under and over the 8 yards I ordered (they sell tarps also, if needed). Same day delivery to Fishers was available, and the driver called about an hour in advance as agreed. Had the 12'x20' tarp on the driveway, and the dump was perfect - about one shovelful of spillover on each of the four sides. Price was competitive, everyone was a joy to work with! read more

I ordered 4 cu yards of their most expensive topsoil blend in fall of 2021 while making a brand new flower bed. Delivery was no issue. But the QUALITY IS BAD. It is FULL OF SAND. I am in landlocked Indiana, not Florida. My plants, mostly brand new roots and bulbs planted in the fall, look sickly this spring. I ordered from McCarty after a bad experience with Northside's soil being full of gravel. At least I can screen out gravel. But the sand has ruined the bed. Never again, McCarty. read more

I work with lots of landscaping companies and usually it feels like pulling teeth! Trying to get pricing, organizing delivery, making payments, etc... This company has literally revolutionized my view of mulch/dirt delivery: 1. Their website is SO EASY TO USE. Most contractors, subcontractors, etc. have outdated, inaccurate, and confusing websites. This company has done a great job keeping their pricing up to date, and walking you through the ordering process. 2. Their office staff and delivery people are so friendly! There's nothing more frustrating than trying to spent $100-$1000 on dirt of mulch, only to be treated negatively by angry employees! NOT THIS COMPANY! Friendly office staff and great delivery drivers. They always call ahead to make sure you'll be home and/or to verify where to drop off the mulch or dirt. 3. I seriously haven't found better/easier pricing. I've used them for my own home and on a few business job sites (rental properties). They always do a great job. I order 10-15 yds of mulch from McCarty every year, and I've gotten both the economy mix and the hardwood mix. I've also gotten compost and topsoil from them in the past. Very satisfied with everything I have ordered from them. Their pricing is competitive but it's their customer service and delivery that put them over the top in my book. Their website is very helpful for looking for what you need and pricing is listed clearly (MUCH better than other landscape websites). They are also very helpful and friendly on the phone if you have questions or like to order that way. I have done pickup myself with a trailer and that went fine. Anymore, I usually just have them deliver. They have a very reasonable delivery fee and the drivers are always on-time and professional. Highly recommend. read more

We are installing a new garden area in our front yard and were in need of bark mulch. I searched the web and found McCarty. After reading the positive reviews, we drove there and were pleasantly surprised how well run they are. The showroom had nicely arranged baskets of sample mulches so we didn't have to go to the "back yard" to see what we wanted. We bought 9 cubic yards of their Economy Trail Mix mulch which was very reasonably priced. A sales woman wrote up our order and she was very efficent and pleasant. We also bought a 16' x 20' tarp on which to put the delivered mulch. The very next day the delivery truck showed up and dumped the mulch exactly in the middle of the tarp which was impressive. McCarty is a great "find" and one of the few businesses of it's type that really has its act together. Their web site is very comprehensive and clearly laid out. I would not recommend this company, I tried to order online, and after verifying my price and entering in credit card information, an additional fee nearly doubled the total cost. When I called to let them know, they said I didn't read the page before. Regardless, as a consumer, the total accurate price should be reflected on the same page where I place my order and enter in my payment details. Purchased 3 cubic yards of black mulch. It was delivered in the morning and there were rain showers in the afternoon. The black dye washed off the much and now I have brown mulch. I called McCarty and was told too bad for you, the mulch needs to set several days for the dye to set.Why do they deliver mulch that is not ready for customers? Be careful if you buy mulch from McCarty or you could get the same screw I received, Next year I will buy from Indiana Mulch and Stone. read more
