TLDR: Imagine being yelled at and fake criminalized by two managers who refuse to acknowledge a normal and understandable mistake their own workers made! Here's what happened. It's long because I'm upset. Sorry: I am a very overly kind person. I'm also very poor. My father and brother are helping pay for and install a new water heater due to it leaking for over a month and ruining my home. I couldn't afford to fix it nor the flooded flooring and walls etc etc but they are stepping in. Now we find Menards sells a small water heater for -$200 than other stores! So we're locked in to this store. We can't pay someone to do the fix, heck we can't afford the fix. We unfortunately had to risk doing it ourselves. This store DOES do water heater exchanges. They take the old ones and sell you a new one. Most of the employees assumed we were doing that and told us in multiple conversations that we can bring the old broken heater there. Apparently there's a few details and loopholes where they won't accept them. If you bring the old one in first and purchase the new one you're good. If you purchase first and bring the old one after they'll now tell you to piss off because you didn't bring it earlier. Imagine dropping off your old water heater, a nice employee takes it in for you while you return the pickup truck you paid and rented from them. --and then you go walk across the giant store to check in kindly if you need to pay for the disposal and they yell at you over and over. Also they refused to speak to me other than yell at me. I couldn't even see the old heater! They refused to hear anything I said and continued yelling that they "never" take in old water heaters. But they do. Our situation wasn't perfect, but there was no reason whatsoever for treating a kind person like someone to be screamed at for several minutes. I was obviously just trying to be nice and figure out what went wrong and where but they were on some power trip. That was the first night. I literally was dismissed and told to leave the store for another day because they were done with me. ... what? I was trying to also purchase another hose I needed, PLUS I got a phone call from my dad that they somehow purchased an incorrect replacement and we needed to buy another water heater. But here I was being told to leave the store. Crazy. We had spent over a thousand dollars, we were telling the employees that we needed to buy much more, and still being treated like scum over a tiny scrap fee or whatever they might have at hand. And I was TRYING to get it back and fix things and they wouldn't even allow it. It was unbelievably uncomfortable. After the first night my dad still wanted to use the same store. We went back the following day and there were more rude employees who found us at checkout and started telling us off as if we had done something horrific. We were pretty sure they were holding our old water heater hostage still but they finally brought it out to us and then refused to do our exchange or purchases until they stood there yelling at us that now we have to take the water heater back... Anytime I spoke they talked over me saying things like "no listen to me! I'm telling you what happened and what you did to us!". It was aggressive, accusatory, and unkind. I was absolute fuming. I am a very soft spoken person, and I do NOT like being obviously taken advantage of for my personality. We were fine taking the water heater, but they even kept yelling at us "you better take that with you!!" even as I paused walking out the door to straighten my pants! And we were already walking away with both the exchange heater and the broken one! They were insufferable. If I had been alone or used all my own money I would return everything. Everything. I have to purchase a lot more stuff to fix the walls and floors and a few more plumbing issues now that my dad and brother are helping me on this. But YOU'LL NEVER SEE ME IN THIS STORE AGAIN! I had no idea how negatively these interactions would impact me but I just feel so upset and uncomfortable. I don't want to talk to anyone for a long while. I just felt judged and disliked no matter how much I wanted to work with them and show I cared and it was an accident. read more

I have to give a shout to Ken for outstanding service today at Menards. I was in a hurry and toting a toddler and he helped me find the joint compound and trowel that I needed. He walked with me across the entire store. The service is always great here and prices fantastic. We can always find exactly what we need. It is no wonder that we pass two other hardware stores to make the 25 mile trek. Menards carries absolutely everything from gardening to furniture to paint. They are located just off the interstate in Columbus and have plenty of parking. The store is always clean and fairly well organized. I could spend hours in there. I may go back tomorrow. read more

Five years ago, we moved from the mid-west to AZ, now in Franklin, IN. Love having a Menard's near by again. Had to purchase appliances the other home store down the street as they sold different brands that Menard's did not carry and that was a complete horror story (the manager at the other store did make good -$$), but trust me, Menard's has he inventory and knowledgeable people working there. I try to purchase from Menard's over the others every time (due to price and inventory). Maybe other locations are better than others, but I have no problems with this Menard's location. read more

I just purchased a home really close to this store. Since closing on my house on April 30th, 2021 I have been to this Menards probably close to a thousand times so far. I have purchased paint, new light fixtures, blinds and ceiling fans and have always had a great experience! This store is very clean, I've found everything I was looking for to be in stock and the few employees I talked to were willing to help/answer my questions. Menards has the basics but also has some random and miscellaneous stuff. Today's adventure includes the purchase of light bulbs. I have dimmer light throughout the house and it's not always obvious which bulbs to get..... at least not for me! I was standing in the aisle and apparently looked confused. A kind gentleman worker came by and inquired if I needed any help. He then proceeded to break it all down for me and assisted me in making the appropriate purchase! He definitely knew his department well. The store as a whole was not crowded and was tidy and clean. The cashier was also friendly. read more

I went to this store on 09/28/23 at 7 pm, the cashier Eden has got to be racist. The white lady in front of me she was able to talk to nicely, but once I came, her whole attitude changed. I bought some EZ- STRAW and once she was done scanning and it was time to pay, she took the $28.00 cash I had given her, when I tell you she was a dumb kind of racist, I mean it. She took her sweet ass time just to check if I had given her a real or fake $20.00 bill. Then, when she was giving me my change, she purposely dropped it, and didn't even bother to try and pick it up. Someone needs to watch the damn cameras if yall think I'm lying. She might look like a nice person from a far, but watch the fuck out if you're not a privileged white person like her. read more

It's big, it's clean, it's average - It's Menard's! With any of these massive stores, there's an element of mandatory wandering you have to do to find anything. While yes, areas are labeled, you'd have to probably be an employee to know what specific things fit in each labelled aisle. It's rarely a bad wander though so as long as you have time to spare you can see some interesting deals as you hunt for the specific sander that's calling your name. Also they sometime have really good deals on food goods which is never something I remember or expect between trips. read more

We live in Noblesville and ordered thousands of dollars worth of fencing at this store. When I called to confirm they had it because we had to get a trailer and drive almost an hour to get it. They refused to confirm. "If it's in the system we have it." And sure enough my husband drove down and they had sold it all to someone else and not updated their quantity. The gate attendant (Riley) was rude, the manager of outside (Derek) was rude. The only helpful person was Matt who looked everywhere for more product. My husband is a very nonconfrontational person but he is very upset right now. Menards has lost all of our business. read more

Their friendly front end staff is the only reason I gave this an extra star. Building materials needs a huge revamp. Either they show the material in stock and it's not, or it's in a totally different area than it should be. Also, if you don't have the exact sku for the material you are wanting, chances are they will screw it up. Got vinyl vented soffit a week ago... after spending 45 minutes in the yard looking for the material and for a staff member, a yard worker appeared and knew where the soffit was.... An entirely different barn by the drywall in a mismatch stack of siding, trim and soffit. I also asked him for a 3/4" J trim... I did not look at the pick ticket (I take responsibility for this one)... he rang me up for 1/2" flexible J mold... DEFINITELY not what I needed. And then begins your trek through the back door to building materials to ask them for the CORRECT material, that you then have to walk all the way to the other corner of the store to be corrected by customer service, then turn around and walk all the back to the building materials desk and put the door to your vehicle... because they will not allow you to correct the items by going through the gate unless you unload all of your material. Fast forward a week later... they show 30 in stock... there is still none in the area it SHOULD be, so we go to the stack by the drywall that still has not been placed where it belongs... and sift through mismatched boxes for 30 minutes along with an employee... only to find one empty box of what I needed... I needed 1 freaking piece of soffit that I now have to drive 30 minutes to Camby for. We've had this issue just about every single time we come here. Inventory is so jacked up you're lucky if they have enough. read more

They have the best Friday after Thanksgiving sales. Very well organized. They have a barrier set up so single file and line cutting. They have employees with light reflecting vests on monitoring the parking and entrances. They have food trucks in the lot. They are well staffed with extra temporary cash registers. They have employees throughout the store helping guide people. They have a map of how the items are laid out that are on sale. They have a wide range of items great for holiday donations such as hats and gloves and small electronics and toys and clothes etc. I purchased everything on my two page list except for two items that were sold out. I was able to get almost everything on the wish list of the two angels I picked. And picked up lots of items on the Ronald McDonald house wish list. And I met the nicest people in line and chatted with the nicest cashier. read more

I went shopping today for cleaning supplies and a few other things. Upon checking out I was informed they don't take apple pay or any of that sort of payment so I proceeded to inform the cashier that I would just move out of the way still at her register but able to scan the items and set my items out as well and pay for my stuff and show her a receipt on my phone that I purchased the items . So as I am doing this I guess he was a manager comes over telling me and I quote " No you can't be there. You have to be over here and all your things need to be on the counter and proceeds as if I am a child taking my items out of my cart. I should have left then. I think I was just in shock. As I was loading menards app it just was not loading fast enough for him I guess he says do I have another way to pay. I said I don't think I have my card on me I will double check. I look in my purse again and I did have my menards credit card. He made sure he was right there to make sure I didnt steal any of his cleaning supplies. But when he saw I was using a menards credit card tried to be all nice. Yep I have a menards card. I wasn't dressed all nice I had been cleaning all day and I was treated so badly I will never return to a menards store ever. I felt like I was being judged the whole time. I loved your store even recommended to people for the cheaper prices you offer on cleaning supplies. I will go elsewhere and I'd I have to pay more I will. Went to get river rock people inside are rude and not willing to help. Come through the gate ask for help said they were going to send someone to help waited 30 min and no one came so had to load it myself took 30 still no one came and left Worst service I have ever seen. I walked around the store for 15 minutes looking for someone to help me and couldn't find anyone. The boards I wanted were underneath some others and needed to be moved with a forklift. I buy a lot of tools and building supplies for work, and depending on what I am in need of, I use different hardware stores. I spend most of my time/money at Menard's. They are great for tools, lighting, cabinet hardware, and miscellaneous supplies. I have not been impressed by their lumber selection/price (Lowe's is better in this category), nor their expertise (See: ACE, True Value, or Home Depot for real experts) If you know what you need, Menard's is the place for you, but do not expect expert advise. read more

Picked up a shower door purchased last week. Security guard working gate was rudest person I have encountered in a long time. I pulled up, handed him my receipt, and said,"Picking up a shower door." His response was, "Not to be rude but I can read." As I was leaving with the shower door he felt it necessary to explain himself, said that when people tell him what they are picking up it makes him feel stupid. This four star rating is a reflection on the nature and competition in this market. Menards, simply put, blows its two competitors out of the water. First, Menards actually HAS employees working in every department. No intercom calls for customer service. Menard's is ok in terms of price and quality but their customer service is horrible. I've been there twice this week to buy paint and both times the woman working the paint counter was extremely rude. Today I walked out and went straight to Home Depot. None of the employees there have ever been helpful and always act like they are being inconvenienced when helping me. Home Depot and Lowe's may be slightly higher in price but I'd rather spend money somewhere where costumer service is still an expectation. read more

My husband and I love shopping here on a weekly basis for all of our home improvement (and sometimes grocery, appliance, or garden!) needs. It is great to get the automatic rebate on the Menard's credit card, and they usually have a pretty good selection of rebate items on a weekly basis that keep us coming back for more. The customer service is generally good if you go at a time when it is not busy. If you go when it is busy, in my experience they have a bunch of people working who are overextended and are not paying attention to customers trying to find sale or rebate items. I have asked for help before and gone through 4 people and 15 minutes trying to find inventory that "can not be located," but I have also had very positive customer service experiences with knowledgeable people. Although I've had less-than-stellar customer service experiences as described above, those are few and far between, especially when it is not crowded. Overall, a great place to shop in my opinion! (Note: If they do not have a sale item in stock, they will give you a rain check at the customer service desk for the sale price when they do get it in. This is a nice gesture.) read more

Menard's is a really great store. I just purchased my first house and even though I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to home improvement I've found myself in several huh? situations recently. Every time I've found someone willing to listen and give sound advice on my renovations be it paint color, or gas fireplaces and lighting to everything in-between. They have one of the best lighting fixtures in town and of course you can not beat their Pittsburgh Paint. read more

This is our favorite store. Excellent customer service, best prices. Never had a bad experience. The people who work there are always helpful, and willing to locate items. The rebate program is fantastic. This is a large store but treats their customers as if it is a small hardware store.
