I have been a patient here for many years, on and off, and unfortunately I need to share a recurring issue around insurance transparency and professionalism. I stopped coming last year after the practice dropped my Delta Dental insurance. I recently decided to give them another try because I now have dental insurance through Cigna. Before my most recent appointment, I sent my insurance information in advance by email and also confirmed it by phone. The office booked the appointment with no mention of any issues. I drove there, took time out of my day, and once I was already sitting in the chair, I was told that the practice had dropped all insurance and asked if I wanted to proceed, pay out of pocket, and then personally deal with whatever reimbursement my insurance might or might not provide later. This conversation happened with a dental hygienist, not an office administrator, despite the practice having administrative staff, and it was extremely uncomfortable. It felt inappropriate for a clinical provider to be put in the position of handling a billing and insurance issue. I declined and left, having wasted time commuting and attending an appointment that should never have been booked under these circumstances. This same situation has happened to me before and is exactly why I stopped going previously. What is most concerning is that all responsibility is placed on the patient. You are expected to manage insurance reimbursement yourself, the practice takes no accountability, and they reserve the right to charge whatever they choose, often well above standard ADA fee guidelines. There was also no follow-up of any kind from the office after the visit. No courtesy call, no acknowledgment, and no attempt to address the situation, which further reinforced the lack of professionalism. The office is beautiful and the staff is welcoming, but the lack of upfront communication, pricing transparency, and professional handling of insurance matters feels misleading. I am sharing this so others are aware and can ask very direct questions before booking, especially if insurance coverage matters to you. read more

I've been driving to the same dentist for 20 years in the U-District. I don't like dentists so I was scared to try someone new but after a crown was put in and never quite seemed right after multiple adjustments I decided to try some place closer to home. McCauley did my 2nd crown and she had a permanent crown placed in under 1.5 hours! Nothing hurt it was quick and they were sooo gentle. I never had to have the crown adjusted because she did it right the first time. If you don't like dentist this is the place for you....it feels like a home. read more

Let me start by saying I have dental "PTSD" and and dread the dentist like the plague. I'm very picky who I go to bc I have so many dental issues and researched a long time before I selected a dentist. I have been going to Dr McCauley for over a year now and have been so pleased with her care She is very competent and thorough and explains everything very well and discusses what is going on and gets your opinion on the best treatment for you She helps me prioritize what I need done and doesn't try to sell me what I don't need. She knows I'm on a budget and helps me formulate a care plan. She and her staff are very conscientious of my dental phobia and always make sure I'm comfortable and know what's going on. I'm not always in the best of moods when I'm there, but they are very patient and understanding of my fears. I have no hesitation in recommending her. read more

Have been going to this practice for several years and love Dr McCauley and her care is outstanding. That is the only reason I have cont going to this practice as the front office staff leaves something to be desired. They are efficient I 'm sure, but they are definitely the "strong arms" re: payments, fees, etc. As I said, have been a loyal and no balance pt but they will not schedule your for future filling, crown or other or let you out of the office w/out paying any co pay, etc. As is mentioned, i have been a patient for yrs, but no flexibility. IF you are suffering w/ a toothache, and have been a long time pt and haven't ever had a balance, they should at least sched you for treatment. No excuse to let your loyal patients suffer. IF you are too busy to see urgent patients, you practice is overbooked and need to stop accepting new patients. As with any popular dentist, it has gotten in the last year EXTREMEMLY hard to get a cleaning appt or "urgent" care appt. I currently have a toothache and they will not sched until 1 mo away. Cleanings are 3.5 mos away. Every DDS and physician I know has some "urgent appts" w/ing a wk or 2 for current issues. Waiting a mo for a toothache isn't something that should be allowed. Yet, this DDS is still accepting new pts. IF YOU DON'T HAVE TIME FOR YOUR CURRENT, LONG TERM PATIENTS, YOU SHOULD NOT BE ACCEPTING NEW ONES! Again, nothing against the dentist care wise, she is empathetic and quite good, but the practice needs to re-eval it's priorities and loyalty to it's long term patients. I have been loyal to them, but if the loyalty isn't both ways, I will go elsewhere. read more

Everything was wonderful -- from scheduling on the phone to leaving with my goody bag. I tried to locate what insurances they take on their website and after the appointment I realized I was out of network. Even having a larger copay, I will be back. read more

I haven't been to the dentist for a little over a year due to Covid. This office has taken very good precautions to make sure everyone feels safe.My dental visit was very pleasant. The hygienist was very friendly and has a gentle touch. She made sure I felt comfortable during my cleaning as I have a few sensitive spots. The doctor was very friendly. read more

Hands down the best dentist I have ever been too. I came from a dentist that told me I have 3 cavities and did work for a crown and charged me passed what I had covered for insurance and I had to make payments for 5+ months to pay it off. McCauley is a doctor I trust, is in my best interest and let me know I have great teeth and did not agree with the previous 3 cavities findings. We just recently moved to the area and was searching for a good dentist since our last one was so bad and rip us off. We stumbled upon a flier in our mail and as usual I got on yelp to check their reviews. All good reviews!!! And plus they offers some nice perks for new customers ($1000 off Invisalign or a free sonicare toothbrush or whitening). I got myself a sonicare toothbrush since they have the good Easy Clean model and I already have an invisalign. The whitening they offer is zoom whitening - another great whitening solution from Sonicare. Alright, got too excited about toothbrush and whitening :). Here is my review for Dr. McCauley. She is awesome. Her staff is awesome as well. All are very friendly and helpful. They have all new equipment and accept Delta Dental insurance. She is a perfectionist so she makes sure you walk out with a perfectly clean teeth!! My husband's old dentist cracked his tooth and didn't do a good filling job, so dr. McCauley found the tooth and recommended to fix it before bacteria build up and cause cavity. There was no pressure what so ever. We were worry about the cost since our last dentist charged us $500 and broke the tooth. The cost here is only $100. We were shocked a bit and happy of course hehe!! First trip to the dentist in nearly a decade. Creating an appointment was painless, as I was able to complete new patient paperwork, and schedule an appointment online. They were able to get me in the same day, but I opted for scheduling a week out. I was greeted by Janis which put me at ease. Laurie guided me along the process of a x-rays and a teeth cleaning. I was asked a reflective question about my long and short term goals as a patient. This set my experience apart, because it allowed me to recognize my own agency in oral hygiene. She was incredibly talkative, with some funny quips and stories. My one regret is not talking more with equipment in my mouth. I'm scheduled for another appointment in 6 months, and I'm actually looking forward to it! read more

I highly recommend Amanda McCauley and her team. I have extreme dental anxiety and avoided the dentist for the last 8+ years. I finally got the courage to re-connect with dental work but had a poor experience with the first Kirkland dentist office I attended. Thankfully, a friend recommended I go to McCauley Dentistry and my experience has been fantastic. They are very sensitive to people with dental anxiety and are understanding and patient. They don't lecture or scold you like some dentists feel they need to, and they treat you with respect. I'm now all caught up on the dental work I needed to have done due to my long avoidance and I'm on schedule for my regular cleanings. It is such a relief to have taken responsibility for my dental health and be back on track with provider that I'm not scared to go and see. When I was looking for a new dentist I read a lot of reviews online, and didn't realize that some places actually compensate their clients with gift cards for leaving a positive review (especially in Kirkland). So it's hard to get an accurate picture. McCauley Dentistry don't do this - this review is NOT compensated and is 100% honest and accurate. Disclaimer: This is my FIRST review on Yelp. I typically have no urge to leave a review but I had such an all around AMAZING experience when I visited Dr. McCauley's office that I needed to share. From the second I walked in everyone was so professional and sincere! I walked into smiling faces, my hygienist was attentive, and Dr. McCauley was so GENUINE and helpful! I have never been one that enjoys the dentist, nor do I know anyone who does. Well not sure exactly. I had searched and asked on local FB groups the best local Bothell dentist and this was recommended. Excited. Until I tried to book. It's May 29...next appointment available...August 20? Well I have an issue that will need addressing before then. Disappointed. I am not sure I want to connect to an office so inaccessible. I have a coworker who had a similar dental issue arise in last week or so...and she's being seen and resolved within a couple of weeks. I will bookmark this office and come back when I'm 100%...but for now...I feel 3 months to wait is unrealistic and won't work for me. :( read more

I switched to Dr. McCauley's practice recently because I wanted a second option on all the dental work that my former dentist said I needed done. She was able to avoid having me get one less crown saving me time and money. Her office has state of the art equipment so they are able to make the crowns quickly and with precision - they turned out beautiful! The chairs are comfortable and they have TV's in every room to keep you entertained. Dr. McCauley was so gentle and was quick to respond to my low pain tolerance and sensitivity over a week later - she checked in until I felt 100% and did not hesitate to fit me into her busy schedule to come back in to take a second look. She even offered to come in on a weekend when the office is closed. If that isn't dedication and exceptional service - I don't know what is! Before getting my dental work done, I got my teeth cleaned by Tiffany. She was so informative, gentle, funny, thorough and friendly. It was by far the best cleaning I have ever had when thinking about all my past dental experiences. Tiffany is truly exceptional and gifted at her job - I hope she gets a large raise every year because she deserves it! I am a dental fears patient. So I was extremely nervous to go. At the front desk is Miss Janice who was very sweet and answered all of my questions. I went with my girlfriend first to see how they operated and we ran into Miss Tiffany who cleans our teeth and has got the best personality ever!!
