The office is tucked away on a street off NE 185th Street, just past the Harbor Homes. They have their own private lot, so parking is easy to find. Making an appointment was simple and quick, thanks to the helpful staff. My first visit to the office was back in October 2024. I was seen by Dr. Gillian Lim and the dental hygienist, Ben. Ben performed the initial exam and cleaning, and then Dr. Lim came in to greet me and do one final check and cleaning. The entire staff was very warm and welcoming! My first impression of the office and staff was so positive that I decided to bring my parents here as well. During my parents' initial visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Karen Wang, who was also very warm and welcoming to both them and me. She paid a lot of attention to my parents and made sure they were comfortable during their dental workup. Dr. Wang was very helpful in explaining any additional dental work that needed to be done and made sure to answer any questions I had. My mom even praised Dr. Wang for focusing entirely on her--the patient--rather than engaging in small talk with staff while working. She had experienced that kind of distracted care with a previous dentist and wasn't a fan of it. I would highly recommend Bothell Smiles Family Dentistry and their team to all of my family and friends! TL;DR: After years of searching, I finally found the perfect dental office--Bothell Smiles Family Dentistry! The staff is warm and welcoming, appointments are easy to book, and both Dr. Lim and Dr. Wang provide exceptional care. The office is conveniently located with private parking. I've even brought my parents here, and we've all had great experiences. Highly recommend to family and friends!

I stopped coming last year after the practice dropped my Delta Dental insurance. I recently decided to give them another try because I now have dental insurance through Cigna. Before my most recent appointment, I sent my insurance information in advance by email and also confirmed it by phone. The office booked the appointment with no mention of any issues. I drove there, took time out of my day, and once I was already sitting in the chair, I was told that the practice had dropped all insurance and asked if I wanted to proceed, pay out of pocket, and then personally deal with whatever reimbursement my insurance might or might not provide later. This conversation happened with a dental hygienist, not an office administrator, despite the practice having administrative staff, and it was extremely uncomfortable. It felt inappropriate for a clinical provider to be put in the position of handling a billing and insurance issue. I declined and left, having wasted time commuting and attending an appointment that should never have been booked under these circumstances. This same situation has happened to me before and is exactly why I stopped going previously. What is most concerning is that all responsibility is placed on the patient. You are expected to manage insurance reimbursement yourself, the practice takes no accountability, and they reserve the right to charge whatever they choose, often well above standard ADA fee guidelines. There was also no follow-up of any kind from the office after the visit. No courtesy call, no acknowledgment, and no attempt to address the situation, which further reinforced the lack of professionalism. The office is beautiful and the staff is welcoming, but the lack of upfront communication, pricing transparency, and professional handling of insurance matters feels misleading. I am sharing this so others are aware and can ask very direct questions before booking, especially if insurance coverage matters to you.

However, when I arrived, the receptionist informed me that because the visit involved a panoramic x-ray, I would need to pay out of pocket. This was unexpected and confusing, especially since my insurance covers x-rays as part of a routine cleaning. What's most frustrating is that the office refused to proceed with the appointment, despite having verified insurance coverage beforehand. I wasn't given a clear explanation as to why the panoramic x-ray was required or why it wasn't covered, and no alternative was offered. The lack of communication and flexibility felt unprofessional and disappointing. I hope this feedback helps improve transparency and patient experience in the future

I went here to establish as a new patient, to be honest I was kind of bribed by OpenCare, with an $85 giftcard to Sephora as incentive for choosing this place. I figured I did not have a lot to loose considering I'd get the giftcard at the very least. I went in for my new patient exam, the staff seemed a little too busy to greet me. I remember it being a little awkward. I could tell one of the receptionist was likely the dentists mom, they both have the same kind of demeanor and speaking patterns, talking down to you or like you are inferior while also acting inconvenienced to be doing their job. The waiting room looked nice. Had a coffee station, nice furniture and a fire place. I sat for about 15 or 20 minutes past my appointment waiting to be called back. The temperature of the waiting rooms was uncomfortable and I mentioned it and the assistant said it was always freezing or too hot. Then he told me that they didn't open the door because then it would smell like Subway bread, which was a smell the receptionists did not like. The assistant who took my x-rays was pretty cool out of everybody there he seems like a nice honest guy, he also seemed a little bit nervous. And I met with the doctor she made some condescending remarks about my teeth, something about how I need to drink my coffee faster and she made a snarky remark that I probably drink wine every night? I told her explicitly about my extreme dental fear and I remember her laughing/ scoffing when I expressed my fear. This made me pretty uncomfortable and it made me not really trust the place. I was told that I needed six or seven fillings and that it would be hard to do everything I needed and one appointment and that even one to two hours would not be enough time. They scheduled me for a cleaning a few days later and it went to have the cleaning and there was a substitute/float hygienist. She was extremely nice and I liked her. She was very attentive and seemed very thorough. I was disappointed that she floated from clinic clinic in that I wouldn't have her as a hygienist again because she was the kindest one I encountered at this dental office. I do remember that fluoride was NOT even offered. On my way out I asked the receptionist about it and she said oh it just probably isn't covered by your insurance then she flipped through some papers, (while acting like it was annoying to have to search through my paperwork) and then finally said yeah it's not covered if you want it's going to be a $40-50 charge. Eventually I ended up calling to schedule my appointment for fillings and was reminded of how unprofessional they were. I called and kept having to be put on hold while the receptionist spoke with the dentist or trying to find me a spot I was calling about 1.5 months before the end of the year and was reminded of how inconsiderate the staff was. I eventually ended up going to a different dentist all together and found out fluoride is and always has been covered by my insurance and that I only needed 1 filling and had 2 areas to watch. The dentist was very nice, asked if I had questions, offered a referral for TMJ massage and told me my teeth looked great. After having such a completely different experience at the other office that I am now established at, I thought it was my duty to tell other people about my experience in case others have had the same.

My experience with Randie at check-in was personal, extremely thorough, and left me with no questions. During my very extensive x-rays with Lacy I was distracted, given very helpful tips, and treated with compassion. She had so many tips/tricks to help me not gag! Dr. Moody was kind, gentle, and didn't give me any anxiety as many other dentists have. I didn't feel shame or judgement from him either. My cleaning by Julie was thorough and I was so impressed at how gentle she was. I normally leave a dentist office with an extremely raw and sore mouth having been poked multiple times. She also gave me the most thorough tips I've been given for oral care. I really appreciated the time and effort everyone took in helping explain my aftercare. I felt seen and valued throughout my entire visit. I have zero anxiety over going into my scheduled procedures and doing my regular cleanings. I highly recommend this office if you have any anxiety over going to the dentist. I'm so happy to have made an appointment as I visited the Ortho next door!

After every cleaning I have always scheduled a follow up appointment, put it in my phone, and that is that. This time I responded to those texts saying I couldn't make it in at the newly offered times and needed to keep my original appointment. Today I showed up for my appointment and the front office lady told me that I had no appointment and I never did. When I showed her my multiple texts that asked me to move my already-booked appointment, she said that clients only get those texts when they don't have an appointment and that they couldn't accommodate a walk-in today. When I asked her why the text would ask me to move an appointment if it didn't exist, all she did was repeat that those texts are only sent when a person doesn't have an appointment. Again, I've been coming to this spot for over four years and have gotten multiple of these texts in the past when I had appointments booked. I told her politely that I always book a follow-up at my previous appointments and had my calendar reminders on my phone and work schedules. She responded that no, I was wrong, and I never had an appointment. No "it could have been a scheduling glitch," no "oh my apologies maybe we just messed up on our end," nothing. I was wrong, period. I have no desire to continue my health care at a place that can't keep their records straight and has such poor customer service. Will happily go elsewhere.
