I had been using Mcclurg for the last 3 years. I only used them because the previous owners had used them and said they were the cheapest. I have not had any issues with the technicians who serviced my irrigation system but the office staff was terrible to deal with. When scheduling my irrigation system to be turned on, I noticed a cracked pipe and notified the office staff about it when I scheduled my system to be turned on. The technician who came out, was courteous and professional. And as I later found out, is the company president! He got right to work running the system, checking the heads and then attempted to fix the cracked pipe. I was in a virtual meeting, so my boyfriend checked the pipe the pipe and noticed it was leaking. He asked the technician to look at it again before he left. A few minutes later, the technician said it was all fixed and he was leaving. After he left, we looked at the pipe and unfortunately, it was still leaking. I called the office and asked them to send someone back out because the pipe was still leaking. They said they were booked up and would send him out in a week or so. Several days later, I received a bill for: Spring turn on, 4 different irrigation parts, and repair irrigation labor to the tune of over $300. I mistakenly, paid the bill knowing the technician was already scheduled to come back out to correctly fix the pipe. I didn't think about this until after the fact, but I was charged for 4 separate irrigation parts: cap, rebuild kit, fittings and pvc pipe totalling $110 for a 6-8" section of pipe that he seemed to have fixed with glue! I can only assume as a professional company, they would charge customers for only what was used/needed. When, the same technician (again the company president) came back out, he explained that it was probably old glue that he used. He bought a new can of glue and attempted to fixed the pipe again. Roughly 20 minutes after he left, I heard water gushing outside! When I went to see what it was, I found the pipe broke off where he had glued it and water gushing out like a fountain, flooding my yard!! After shutting the waterline off, I called the technician himself, and told him what was happening. He said he would come right out. A few hours later he returned and fixed the pipe correctly. Again, he was very courteous and professional. A week or so later, I received another bill for: service call/repair and irrigation parts for $105.00. My boyfriend called the office and left a voicemail explaining that this was not a new service call, but in fact a continuation from the initial call. He said the pipe was not fixed properly the first time and therefore the technician had to come out a second and third time to correct it. Several days later, I received an email from the office manager saying (direct quote) "He did leave a detailed message about a recent invoice for $105. First, I do not appreciate his statement in his message that we messed something up and didn't do a good job. That simply is Not true." However, they DID mess it up...several times! She stated that she wouldn't talk to him because he was not on the account (I totally respect that point). She continued to state, and I quote: "I do not want to get into an argument over this. Customers think they are knowledgeable about the subject matter and if that is the case then why call us in the first place?" I was shocked to hear a person in the customer service industry respond that way to a customer! Not the mention the fact that her title is office manager! I guess I figured that somehow between the technician and the billing department, they messed up and billed me incorrectly. I understand mistakes happen. So I sent a second email to her, again, explaining the situation was, in that, this was not a second issue and therefore shouldn't be billed a second time. Clearly they are willing to lose a customer of over 3 years for $105 bill that was an error on their part? Or maybe they are just hoping to overcharge people and hope they don't notice? CALL SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY CARES! 0 stars if I could. It is sad, as I started with the owner, Marshall McClurg when I built my house and he handled my irrigation, landscaping, and hydroseeding. I couldn't of been more happy 10 years ago. However, recently I had some construction completed and needed some repairs done. I emailed the company and asked to get a quote for the work that would need to be completed. I sent the email on a Friday at 11 am and hadn't heard back. So the following Tuesday I asked if I were to find a new company to handle my issue since I had no reply. To that I received an email stating that I was demanding and threating. I have been a business owner for over 25 years and have a 4.8 google rating. Customer service is and will always be foremost for me and any reputable company. Find another company that has better communication skills. read more

CAVEAT EMPTOR! Zero stars if Yelp offered the choice. BEWARE! Stay away from this company. The service is abominable. The office coordinator, Sharon, in my opinion, is incompetent at best, intentionally rude, obnoxious, and derisive, at worse. To begin, in the summer of 2018, I hired McClurg to install a sprinkler system and subscribed to their maintenance services which entailed shutting down the system and winterizing it in the late fall, and then bringing up the system in the spring. I never touched their system. It was in their care from installation to present. At the onset of the third season, the system failed to work. We raised the issue with Sharon and gave her our schedule of when someone would be present at the home. This information was totally ignored and they came out at their own convenience and then complained no one at home. After some half-hearted inspection, Marshall McClurg, a person, in my opinion, that is either incapcitated in some matter or form, or horribly corrupt due to his response to the failure of their system. Miserable Marshall immediately tried to tell me that it was my problem. That the house's piping must have build-up, starving the lawn sprinkler system's water supply. He also stated that the water pressure is too low (something that he never checked), and that I need to purchase a booster pump. I stated the obvious back to mental midget Marshall, "how can a system that has seen only 2 seasons and working with no issues, and, moreover, completely maintained by McClurg, all of a sudden fail due to low water pressure or pipe deterioration." He repeated his stand justifying it by repeating (ad nauseum), that "it was the only thing he could think of". He could give me no answer when I told him that I had good flow and pressure to all other water spigots in the house. Our conversation, which was cordial at first, escalated in decibels but at no time became personal. However, after Marshall the misleader promised me that he would come and check things out, he had Sharon, his lackey, send me an email ridiculing me for my "berating [poor] Marshall". Her email was written as if she heard everything first hand but it was all second hand filtered by miscreant Marshall. If there was ever a company that needed to be taken to the woodshed, it is by far and away, this one. However, I will settle for the local court. read more

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY I had a major project bid on this company and had no problems with the workers who actually did the project, the problems, as so many reviewers here, and on the BBB site have mentioned, is the office manager. As I mentioned, I had a major project done ($10,000) and had small area that was not completed correctly, they said that they would come back and finish it later, when they finally did return and finish the project, I was billed an additional $1200 over my original written estimate! Because I did not get it in writing that they would come back to finish the project at no additional cost, I was forced to pay the additional fees. Pay attention to these reviews, look at their BBB complaints, and look at the number of people he has sued on public records data bases and then find a more reputable company read more

ZERO stars is more appropriate! My Mother was hospitalized and needed me to be with her as her healthcare advocate. I called from the hospital to reschedule my appointment with McClurg. Office Manager, Sharon, informed me that they are assessing a $50 cancellation fee since I did not provide 24 hour notice. It's their policy, No exceptions! I explained that I understand the fee if it's for my convenience, however, since this was a medical emergency, I respectfully requested consideration to waive their policy under the circumstances. No empathy or consideration was to given to my circumstances. Today, they just lost a loyal long-term customer forever! read more

I used to love dealing with this company. I have worked with them for 20 years and I have just had my last interaction with them. The office staff is awful!!! No customer service skills and they want you to bow down to them. My schedule was unimportant to them and my feelings about the mismanaged way of billing was insulting to them. Sorry Marsha and Connie but your teenage bully ways of running Marshall's company have sent me running to anyone else but McClurg Environmental!!! read more

This company used to be service-oriented. Not anymore. After 25 years and thousands of dollars in payments, we missed a small bill while we were relocating. The company cancelled our service and refused to work on our system even though they are the ones who installed and maintained it. They failed to contact us by phone about the missed payment, and customer reps were rude when we tried to explain the situation. Glad to take our money for many years, but unwilling to help when we really needed them. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My family has used this company for over 20 years and used to be happy with their service. However, I would no longer recommend this service to ANYONE. My parents prepaid for their summer service service a couple months ago, as the company now requires you to do. At the time they paid, they did not know that they would be putting their house up for sale, due to some recent health concerns. They have tried several times to transfer their service to their new house - they are not asking for any money back, just to transfer their service from their old house to their new one. Long story short, they will not so this and point blank told my parents that they would just be out the money they paid. The lady in the office was incredibly rude and disrespectful to deal with. She said that it "wasn't her problem" and that "they should have known better than to schedule service if they were going to be moving." When they told her that they hadn't planned on moving, but that it was due to unexpected health issues, she said "well you must have had some idea." I've been a seasonal customer since 2008. All I have done is a winterization on my sprinkler system. In the fall of 2014 McClurg winterized my system. A few weeks later my neighbor brings me two sprinkler heads that were launched into his yard when my system was winterized. It was getting cold so I left it broken for the winter. The following year, 2015 I never even turned the sprinkler system on. I forgot about the broken heads until I turned the sprinkler system on in 2016. I call McClurg and tell them what happened. I was told that a technician would be out, but it was going to be a while because they had to take care of their "regular customers" first. A few weeks later a technician repaired both sprinkler heads. A few weeks later I get a bill for parts and labor. So basically McClurg breaks your sprinklers then charges you to repair it. My wife called and spoke to a women who was very rude. I get a call the following day from what I believe was a so called "manager." The manager tells me my story is "far fetched" and states that the bill stands the way it is. Decide for yourself if you want this unprofessional company touching your lawn or sprinklers because if they break something guess who's paying for it, and they'll call you a liar.
