Caveat: I work here. McCoy's is a different breed. It's one of those places where you won't get a blank look when you ask for that do hickey that makes the thingy on the toilet float. The folks at the store have 60+ years of experience combined and they make it their business to get to know their customers and to service them to the best of their ability. Also of note is the fact that McCoy's is central Texas owned by the actual McCoy family. You can call the owner. No, really. Can you say that about Home Depot or Lowe's? Probably not. Further, they will load your car when you are ordering things like concrete, dimensional lumber and fencing items. read more

Let's face it, it's not a big box store, which makes it perfect when you need basic hardware and or building supply. In and out with extremely friendly staff. Not to mention an authorized Stihl dealer which is a plus when you need basic maintenance items. read more

Just left the Liberty Hill store. Knew what I needed, but not what it was called. Brett was very helpful, took me straight to the product I needed, and even told me what it was. McCoy's is awesome! The Manager, Melinda, found a box delivered to them that belonged to OUR business & she called us up & went the extra mile to let us know she found it, in case we were missing it! This place is wonderful! I don't know much about tools or construction, but I had a list of supplies I needed for a church project. As soon as I walked in with a lost-look on my face, I was asked if I needed help finding anything. The employee was SO helpful and walked me to each item I needed, offering advice on which items seemed more essential or cost-efficient. Thank you, Steve! This is my favorite store for any construction work I do. Why? First, Very friendly associates. Whenever I call them, or email them, they go above and beyond to help me with any questions. Even if it takes like 10 emails to answer my questions, they respond with patience and really quickly. They are super quick in delivery too, even if your order needs to be customized. Forget big box....This place either has or can order all that you need from useful displays and the store layout won't have you searching 15 minutes for an associate to help you find a particular item or to help reach something on a shelf 10 feet up. Should you need them, the staff is down home friendly and know their stuff inside and out - really top notch people. They may not have the same huge selection but what is there is simply a higher grade of quality and the prices are well within competitive range (especially lumber where the quality is FAR superior to digging through dozens of warped pieces to find something usable) After spending an excessive amount of time wandering big box stores lately, this place was not only a refreshing change, it was a blessing. I get the feeling I'll wind up a regular here as the home repair/remodeling bug continues to bite. read more

Like other reviews, Mccoys is generally my go to place for hardware and building supplies as i'm an avid DIY'er. I always get great service in the store and the staff is knowledgeable. But this is the first time i've used them for delivery services and as Gretta W experienced it was horrible. When I placed my order in the store they confirmed all the details about the delivery and the date and said it would be early morning Friday. Come Friday, I waited and waited and finally at 11am I gave the store a call to ask about my delivery. I was put on hold 3 times, I was asked if i was trying to make a payment, then finally a new person picked up and acted as if I had just called in but in reality i'd been on hold for 10 mins. He informed me the delivery was "on its way" and was "just loaded up on the truck" I call bullshit! It took them more then an hour after that to reach my house (which is literally less then 1 mile away from the store.) Fortunately upon inspection of the bundle of goods everything I ordered was there and thankfully the driver was very helpful and cheerful. This store is disorganized and dishonest about whats going on when it comes to delivery of materials. I have ordered delivery of materials from other stores in the past, both Lowes and Home Depot and have never had a problem as bad as this. McCoy's Managers/Owners, if you are reading this, you have lost a customer, your staff needs to be trained better and needs to be reprimanded for their poor service. read more

EDIT:I have received a sincere apology and delivery charge refund for the following debacle from McCoy's. Use the following as a cautionary tale, and I hope their customer service shows improvement in the future. I would strongly encourage you to go elsewhere for deliveries of materials.Though their cost is a little less than Home Depot, I am appalled at the disorganized service I received. The folks answering phones for deliveries were in such a hurry to get me off the phone that they missed critical details concerning my delivery. I even called back several times to add information they had forgotten to ask and to confirm the delivery details. As expected after such disrespectful service, the delivery was completely botched. I spent nearly 3 hours waiting for the delivery because information was not communicated accurately to the driver. This is dismal customer service that could easily have been avoided simply by listening to your customers as they make an order. I understand that mistakes happen but to the level I experienced is completely unacceptable. read more

Great customer service. I asked a question that nobody in the store knew the answer to. They tried looking out up online but couldn't find the answer, because the manufacturer didn't make the info available. They even called the manufacturer with out hesitation. Then I asked if they had a knife that was out of the package so I could see how it felt. He said yes but it's in my truck, if you like I will get it to show you. He walked out to get it all the way across the parking lot. read more

I cannot go to Home Depot or Lowes without hyperventilating. I can never find anything or anybody to help me find anything. It is nervewracking. I find myself painfully aware of how out of my element I am... McCoys has NEVER made me feel that way. Voted the place most likely to make me wear a toolbelt. And that would be hot. read more

This is a great location for hardware and building supplies. It's not as extensive as Home Depot or Lowe's, but I try here first so I don't have to go so far out of my way to get to Lowes or Home Depot. Plus they're super nice and there's a small company not a national conglomerate. read more

I set out to build a fence in our backyard, and spent time at Lowe's & Home Depot, only to find that they did not carry the utility panel wire material I wanted, but more irritatingly, that no one there had any clue what I was talking about. I left and drove straight to McCoy's. I entered, was greeted immediately, and as soon as I said "utility panel", was asked if I needed it in 3, 4, or 5 foot. Awesome! Employees that know the products in the store, what a concept. On top of that, in the lumberyard, they have someone that will help you locate and load what you needed. I've become so used to big box retail that I have forgotten what real customer service was. Thanks to McCoy's, I remember again. read more

McCoys is the real deal when it comes to customer service. They not only know their products, they know how to use them and have knowledgable staff to help you. This is one of the very few places left that have personel to load your vehicle!! You don't have to haul lumber and concrete around on a wimpy little cart inside of a store. This is a real LUMBERYARD...OUTSIDE. Quality products and great service all in one. I will continue to shop at any and all McCoys locations as they retain those values at all of their locations. This company is a joke. High prices and the whole staff is incompetent. They may know how to fix a toilet but you wil get laughed out on any serious projects. If you get that type of service for high prices; I will just go to home depot and load it myself. read more

What can I say? 5 stars just about says it all. We live fairly close to McCoys and I have visited the store many times out if convenience of not having to drive clear up Brodie to Home Depot or Lowes. The store is not as big like the big box stores and doesn't carry as much stuff in store, but the customer service is great. After we were flooded out in Halloween I had tried Home Depot for supplies to build our house back, but was so turned off by their lack of customer service I didn't want to go back. The staff at McCoys is great, they had all of the drywall, insulation, and everything else we needed in stock and delivered it the very next day without any hassle. On one trip my battery had died in my truck and one of the cashiers was nice enough to give me a jump. I like the small town feel of McCoys and how attentive they are. It really makes the going there so much better. They even have a handyman who works there and he has been very helpful with instructions on things and answering a lot if questions. If you get a chance, check them out. read more
