McDaniel Farm Park is not an ordinary Georgia park. This park is filled with charm, bridges, creeks, forests, meadows, picnic areas, and historical farm buildings. This park is by far my favorite in Gwinnett County because of the mixed use paved versus non-paved pathways, well-maintained, and overall cozy vibes. Like an outdoor museum. Even the restrooms are the best that I've seen in local parks. The location is very conveniently located with a Duluth entrance and Suwanee entrance. Plenty of parking. Even a public garden. Busiest times are after 11am on weekdays and after 10am on weekends. The best entrance is on the Duluth side off of Old Norcross Road. Great for taking a morning walk and then visiting the local cafes afterwards. read more

Such a spacious and cute park. Bonus: There are various critters like deer, dragon flies, butterflies, critters like a large brown millipede looking thing (see my photo). The park itself had ample parking spaces. And the facilities there were clean and well maintained. There were various trails that's away from the main paved path. These side trails were nicely shaded and eventually leads back on the main path. The historic farm structures like the main house, farmhouse, side house and its outhouse are still erect. That's the charm of this place with the well groomed flower garden that someone upkeeps. The old and new altogether. As you wander the park, you forget you're in the heart of Duluth where shopping and restaurants galore await you. Because while you're talking around (and trying not to sweat to death during the summer), you'll hear the summer insects buzzing. It literally reminded me of my childhood during the summers hearing the loud insects buzz away. read more

Took the pooch to this dog park for the first time today. The tall fencing, roomy runs, double lock entry and well groomed lawn was noticed. All water was turned off and seems to be the case for all the Gwinnett dog parks which kinda bites. If you bring Fido during the winter months bring your own hydration. People were friendly and the few dogs we mingled with were sweet. read more

One of my favorite parks in the area! Great trail for you to take a stroll. I love that it has so many different options for you.. longer option can take you all the way from Buford Hwy to Old Norcross Road. There are some areas that's wide open and very hot but a lot of areas are covered by trees, which make it enjoyable even on a hot day. There are also two dog parks, one for small dogs and the other for big dogs. Parks are super big and great for even kids to run around if they like playing with or watching dogs like my daughter. Playground is next to the dog parks. Big playground with options for both small and big kids. Playground is also next to the picnic area which is great for events. With so many trees surrounding the playground, it's okay to go even on those Georgia summer days. read more

This park is AMAZING! Never beeen & didn't realize it existed until now- lived around there for 15 yrs. Geez! 2 completely separate entrances; 1 off Duluth Hwy that leads to the playground & a nice pavilion. 1 parking lot for that side. The other is behind the Jaguar dealership between Satellite Blvd & Pleasant Hill- Old Norcross. See pics to help see where it is. The Barn Pavilion is on the Old Norcross/Historic entrance. It is SO SO SO NICE!!! Renting the pavilion was not easy- called several times, no answer- finally got a woman who sounded like she was about to fall asleep. This is a nice family friendly park that has a bit of everything: a historic farm, paved trail, playground, clean bathrooms, pavilion, and deer sightings. It's beautiful in the fall when the trees change colors. That's when you will see plenty of family and engagement photography happen. read more

Lots of space and some nice walking elevation changes. Would highly recommend if you're in the area with your pets, or if you just need to get out into fresh air. Also, BYOB meaning bring your own doggy bags to pick up mess, there were very few provided in the dog park dispensers. Otherwise, a gorgeous park! My go to park in Duluth, it's so beautiful. The park is full of luscious, green trees that provide a good amount of shade and there is a trail! The trail is more of a paved path than a hike but it's very well maintained and longer than I thought so you could easily spend an hour walking around the park enjoying the beautiful view. A perfect place to exercise or come for a picnic! Also great for biking, the path is concrete and very smooth. I also think it would be a good place for photo shoots because there is a farm house which could be a cool background on top of the foresty paths. read more

In Duluth, there are 2 great parks nearby. One is McDaniel Farm Park. It has 2 entrances. One is off of Old Norcross, which is the "easiest" one to get to. The other is inside some subdivision. If you want to see the farm, you should go in the Old Norcross location. If you want easy access to dog parks and the playground, you should do the other entrance. But it doesn't matter which entrance you choose. You can get to the entire 134 acre park from each of the entrances. The dog park is cool if you have dogs. They have a section for small dogs and another for big dogs. In the dog park side, there is also a nice playground for the kids. It is farm equipment themed. The farm area is cool. It's a historical site. The farm was supposedly in use until 1999! A few of the old buildings are there, and the old cow pasture is there as well. You can even cross the long walking bridge at the farm side. That is a very popular area for photographers. Heck, the entire farm side is a popular spot for photographers. You'll always see one doing family photos, engagement, quinceanera, senior, and other photos. The park also has a 2.3 mile trail. The trail is 2 loops (one on the farm side and one on the dog park side) joined by a trail. So you can do a figure 8 or whatever if you want to walk the entire trail. The trail is nicely maintained. It is beautify during the fall when the leaves change. They also have the more "scenic" trails off the main trail. If you want to picnic, they have a few large pavilions to take advantage of. This is a great park that has it all: photography locations, great trail, playground, historical site, and more. read more

Note there are two entrances to the park, both of which are a bit far from each other, both walking and driving. If you're heading for the playground, go to the north entrance - McDaniel Farm Park New Entrance, McDaniel Rd, Duluth, GA 30096. We chose the playground as a meeting point when some visitors came in-town. Their children enjoyed the playground and afterwards we did a stroll in the trails. It'd say it's one of the nicest park trails in Atlanta. Note that cyclists and rollerbladers also use the trails, so be aware if you have small children or in a large group. read more

Fun playground for toddlers and school age kids! Our baby loved the swings and the grassy areas to crawl around. I'm sure he would love the farm themed play sets too once he's older. The park has a large fenced in area for dogs as well as plenty of paved and unpaved walking paths. The bathrooms were clean. read more

Came in late December during the holiday season for some fresh air. This park is the hidden crown jewel of Gwinnett. It is more well maintained and better historically preserved than many National Parks and Historic Sites I've seen in the country! Trails: Paved trails galore! And no potholes or bad muddy spots either. This makes for such a smooth walking experience. I saw folks biking and thought that a great idea. Historic Preservation: The signage in the park is pristine. Either they cleaned off people writing on signage (which seems to always inevitably happen in most parks) or most people, like me, are so impressed by the park that they wouldn't dare deface anything in the first place. The lack of graffiti or defacing really made you feel like you were traveling back decades into the time the McDaniels worked the land! Also, there's no shortage of stuff to see. Although due to COVID there were no house tours, I could peek into the tenant house and the main house to get a good sense of what it looked like in the inside, and I could tell Gwinnett Co. very thoroughly labeled all the historic artifacts, and there were many vintage items to give you a great sense of what living here used to be like. Once COVID lifts I can't wait to come back for a tour! Bathrooms: This is such an important part of the park experience for me, and McDaniel doesn't disappoint. The bathrooms are very clean, with the doors open to circulate air (COVID reasons). The only improvement I can think of is the taps don't release hot water and the air dryer is not warm (which makes your hands frigid during the winter). But this is usually the case for most parks, so no minus points here for me. And lastly, the people. It is so lovely seeing the diversity of Gwinnett come together to enjoy the park. Dog walkers, Pokemon Go-ers, people just needing a scenic place to have a long phone chat, veterans, Korean elders having a picnic, and kids racing each other: this is the best of Gwinnett, truly. read more

In the bustling streets of pleasant Hill and satellite it's easy to forget that there's a neat little rural pocket of sweet southern comfort tucked behind car dealerships. Ironically this is an old cotton farm that still maintains clapboard houses and wells and barns. So if you want to truly experience the diversity of Duluth, it's not hard to go Asia hopping on Pleasant Hill and then suddenly escape to southern charm right across the street from Great wall Supermarket. I love that i felt I had left Atlanta for a while and had entered into another place in time. It's a good nature trail for those who enjoy hikes and walks and nature. IT's a farm so it's great for educational purposes to see heritage nuts and trees. I heard there's even educational tours given about the farm houses and the gardens! Not too busy generally; mostly an older crowd of people who mind their own business and stroll around. Parking looks like it can be a problem if you're going to have a huge celebration here. This park definitely is a hidden treasure in the middle of city and that too close to Pleasant Hill Road.. This is like 100 times better than the Shorty Howell Park which is close by... The trails are clean and there is a small creek going through the park.. almost all parts of the trail is paved except may be for a small section if you are willing to go off the normal path.. I have come hear a lot of times now...Love this place.. its not so crowded as Shorty howell and it has been left untouched.. so its very beautiful... read more

One of our favorite parks in Gwinnett County. The dog parks are always clean and my dogs have an amazing time running and playing. Trails are fantastic not only are there paved trailed but also side trails in the wooded area leading you around back to another portion of the paved trails. Plenty of tables and benches we have had lunch in the park near the water which was a gorgeous experience. Along with all these features on one end of the park are historical buildings from the old farm. Reading each plaque while walking me and the kids learned some new things about the surrounding areas. read more

I love this park because of its location and size. Usually parks around Duluth are either really small, or further out. McDaniel farm park has several trails and has some building/historical recreations to visit. It's also pretty scenic, with small rivers and picnic areas. The playground and dog park are really new, and have some variety of options for kids to play on. The area has two entrances, one to the trails and historic area and another to the playground and dog park. The areas aren't connected by car so if you want to go to the playground I would suggest making sure you have the right address in the GPS. read more

Such a charming park! I've always known about McDaniel Farm, but never got to check this spot out till recently with our fur babies. This park has 3 miles of dirt and paved trails; it's bigger than it looks. There's a furnished farmhouse, blacksmith shed, carriage and tenant house located here. There are little streams, gardens, and bridges as well. Towards the other end of the trail, there's a new playground and dog park. The pavilion is complete with bathrooms for use. Plenty of parking at both entrances. Second entrance is off of Duluth Hwy onto McDaniel Road. read more

With ideas taken from engaged Foresite Group & Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation to design and permit this beautiful site, McDaniel is truly a local visionary-come-to-life ... A walk through this park in such a heavy populated area is like a walk in the past. McDaniel Park was a former cotton farm that has been restored to depict a typical 1930 farm. The natural beauty of the park can be experienced through several recreational amenities, including a 2.3-mile series of paved loops located within the 133-acre former farm site in Gwinnett County, a picnic Pavilion, grills and restroom. This natural oasis is a break in the midst of modern day. There are a number of paved trails throughout this park making it easy to find your way. This is a pet friendly park, so you will see visitors walking their best friends too. I always bring my two dogs with me every time I get a chance to come here. Along the trails there are benches you can stop and relax at while watching natures beauty. Historical things you will see a long the way: -Furnished farmhouse -Barn -Blacksmith shed -Carriage house -Tenant house -Pavilion -Grill -Restrooms -Bridges McDaniel Park is definitely my guilty pleasure. I have to admit this park is too pretty not to take pictures here. I'm a picture kind of gal, so I always carry my Canon camera with me. I've been to McDaniel Farm Park a few times in the past years. Okay, it's been more than 2-3 years, probably 5 years. At that time, it was smaller and the expansion wasn't there like it is now. I used to come and bring my kids for the pumpkin patch. Recently, I was in the area and decided to check it out again. A few of my friends have gotten their photographs done there and they turned out gorgeous. It peaked my interest to check it out since it's been a while. I was impressed with how beautiful the park is and the nice pavements to walk. I can tell that it will be expanded even more. I love the two areas where the bridges are...soooo pretty! I love taking pics there. I never realized how beautiful this park is and you would never know it's located in the busy part of Duluth near Gwinnet Place Mall. It's definitely a hidden gem, tucked away off Old Norcross Road. During the 2.5 walk on the trail, I spotted a baby deer. What was cool was it wasn't even scared. It kept eating and staring at us. I was able to get a picture too. I didn't want to scare it by going even closer. Overall, amazing trail. I must come back, more! read more

McDaniel Farm Park - Spotted two fawns while walking - Parks Near Me - Duluth, Georgia

I lived in Duluth for several years before moving to Atlanta. While I don't regret the decision to move, one thing I miss about Duluth is proximity to some nice parks like McDaniel farm park. I have so much memories in this park, every time I pass by or go back, I have this longing to relive the past. Do you understand what I am talking about? McDaniel's farm park is in the middle of the hustle bustle of Duluth businesses and restaurants. It's off Old Norcross rd(between pleasant hill and satellite blvd) next to the Land Rover dealership. The park itself is situated on a 19th to early twentieth century cotton farm. The last of the heir passed away in 1990s and left the land to the state, which has since been converted as park. They still have renovated/rebuilt structures of main farmhouse, tenant cottage, blacksmith shed, small garden and horse yard. It's fascinating to visit and understand how people lived back in the days. While you cannot enter inside these structures, you can look through window to get good idea on size and decor on Tuesday-Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. Now to the part I like this park - trails! They have about 3 miles of paved trails and few more miles of unpaved side trails. What's nice is that these unpaved side trails are not just after thought but takes you through some scenic, quiet wooded area. The park itself is not as big as Tribble mill park but the trails are laid in a way it feel like the park is big. Also, these trails have some good elevation and downs that can really help serious runners and also ideal for High intensity training. But at the same time, it also provides enough flat scenic trails for taking a romantic stroll. Trails pass through streams, bridges and just in case you are tired, there are plenty of benches throughout the park to rest. I have even spotted some deer few times here. They also have few hidden trails, make sure to check it out. Don't worry, the whole park is series of loops, there is no way you can lose your way for long. Above all, the park is rarely crowded like other parks in the area. And you don't see many kids either. That's a big PLUS! The park is open from sun rise to sun-set. In other words, they are open for longer in Summer than fall. Overall, if you want a quiet place in Duluth to run or to contemplate life, you can't do any better than McDaniel Farm park. 5 Stars read more

I love this park! It's my favorite park in Gwinnett County! It's a hidden gem located off Old Norcross Rd. between Pleasant Hill Rd. and Satellite Blvd. Inside the park, there is a historical farm house with a large barn, a pavilion, a community garden, and several other cool amenities. It's a great place for people to come and take cool photos, too. There is a pretty decent asphalted trail (about 2.5 miles long) as well as a dirt trail that connects to the paved trail for those who don't mind a bit of mud on their shoes. What I love the most about this park is that you cannot hear the noise from the very busy and heavily trafficked roads that surround this nature refuge. This park is very well maintained and is not as crowded as other parks in the area. It's a good place to get away from the house or work and clear your mind. read more

McDaniel Farm Park is a hidden gem, tucked away in plain sight. While visiting the area for the holidays, I was looking for a place to walk or hike; nothing too strenuous but a chance to stretch my legs and try and work off some of the holiday eats. This was perfect. There's great history dating back to before the Civil War, and the farm area offers a great glimpse back in time. Unfortunately the day I was there the farm area was closed, but we made the best of it and enjoyed the copious trails the park has to offer. The trails are paved, so don't expect a rugged walk, but they meander through the trees and near and along Sweetwater Creek. I think all total the trails are only a couple miles long. It was the perfect amount! McDaniel Farm Park is wonderful and beautiful. I'm a fan and will certainly come back if I find myself in need of some quiet respite amongst the hustle and bustle of life. read more

I found this park by accident, just doing a random search for "parks" on my GPS, and found myself just behind the restaurant strip that houses the likes of MJ's Korean Tacos and Honey pig off of old norcross road, and boom, there's a cool park new to me. The first thing I noticed when I unhitched my bike was.....well...there's a lot of Asian Grand parents hanging at this park, and what someone mentioned about having very little kids at this park was right, as I saw more people over 50 than under 10. But hey, get in where you fit in, so I peddled away. The Second thing I noticed was the actual McDaniel farm itself, and people were standing in front of it, getting their photos taken. The actual farm is positioned right across a nice bridge that's not too far from the parking lot and can be reached from a couple of different paved paths. The trails are mostly paved, and loop around on themselves, before dead ending at a neighborhood. For walking or cycling it's great, although there's one hill here that I had to hop off of my bike because it was just too long and steep. It's a very comforting park, not a ton of hustle and bustle like other parks, and seems to be the grown folks park, which honestly works for me. read more

This place is beautiful and unique. Thanks to Yelp, I went to this park right away after moving to Duluth and it is such a serene haven. You won't think for a second that you are in the midst of Duluth. It is like having a little stroll through the historic South or the countryside. It is quiet and feels quite safe. The paved trails are long and great for exercising especially if you have a baby carriage to schlep along. I loved that it is right near the Great Wall (GW) Supermarket off of old Norcross, so I was able to enjoy some stellar Wonton soup and a scallion pancake to ruin the calorie burn from my long walk :). read more
