After a hearty breakfast from across the street at Flavor Rich Restaurant, we stopped by this park to checkout the frisbee throw route, which is amazing. Since my husband cannot walk far, we took a short hike through one of the shorter hiking trails, a view of the river below was inviting, but we were not dressed for hiking further down. Meh. It's not better than the Alpharetta Greenway and I was hoping it would be. Absolutely hated that you had to walk past an insanely busy road to continue the trail. The trail was paved and there was some boardwalk paths and we found 1 very short nature trail (unpaved). If youre in the area, then this is okay to get some steps in but definitely don't make a special trip out here. read more

It's a great park for walking. It has trails that are either paved/boardwalks or unpaved. And it's family and dog friendly. While there are areas for disc golf, there are no playgrounds. As it is mainly wooded, there is a lot of shade on the unpaved and paved trails, so it's perfect for summer walks. read more

I love this park, not only for just the paths and the boardwalks, but also that it seems like it's a great disc golf course. The park is huge and connects to the Suwanee greenway so if you ever get tired of just walking around the paths in the park you're free to walk through to the greenway. Coming here on weekdays, you can see daily walkers but I'm sure on a nice weekend you will see a lot of families and visitors of the park. If you're looking for a place to either try out disc golf or just go for a walk in a park, this should be on your list! There are some benches every once in a while, but I would say it's mostly focused on the walking. One last thing I would suggest is to wear bug repellent during the summer as there are portions of the boardwalk that can get a bit swampy, therefore mosquitos will probably be around. read more

There are so many amazing and free parks for visit in the Atlanta area. I stayed at an airbnb in the area and this happened to be the closest park. Unfortunately, I am not able to compare to many parks in the area, as this is the only park I have visited so far. However, the park was very convenient, well shaded, and maintained beautifully. I ate breakfast at one of the picnic tables during the Fall, under the beautiful trees and enjoyed the scenery and people watching. There are many local pedestrians here during all open hours, as there is a large community of non-working and self-employed people in the area that are from countries that are used to mountain climbing and hiking daily. This park has plenty of parking, is beautiful, and a great place to visit anytime. read more

Suwanee Creek Park is a huge, 400 acre park. It is mainly wooded. But the trail here is long and amazing. It is a great nature hike. You can choose to do the paved or unpaved hike. There is a small loop near one end of the park. But the main trail goes 1 way. There is no loop for that. It's about 2 miles and it connects to other trails in other parks. The trail is magnificent and you get to really be in nature. The main trail is part wooded and park paved. The wooden parts are near the creek area where the ground gets muddier. I think the wooden trails are more like bridges. The trail goes to McGinnis Ferry Road, and runs underneath it. Then it loops up and goes along side McGinnis Ferry Road. It's a bit scary since McGinnis Ferry is a busy, speedy road. Once you get past that, the trails goes farther into other parks. I think once you reach McGinnis Ferry Road, that's where the official Suwanee Creek Park ends. If you're going for a more casual stroll, I would turn around and head back since the trail doesn't loop. There is also a disc-golf course here with concrete tees and brooms at each station. If you're a fan of disc golf, this looks like a nice course to try. It looks challenging because of all the trees. If you are a jogger, biker, or a regular walker, this is a great park to do it. There are no playgrounds. But there are public bathrooms and picnic tables. There are also benches along the trail if you need a break or wanna soak in nature. read more

Set out to walk about a mile and ended up doing three. Active area, couples, runners etc all getting their physical activity in for the day. I really liked the fact that it has paved roads or the options of going on a trail. Beautiful trails. read more

As I set off this morning to check out Suwanee Park, I was convinced this was a first-time visit for me. Not so, as I became aware as I turned into the parking area. Memories are fallible. I had been here at least twice before, years ago. Suwanee is a suburban park devoted to casual walking and runners. There are very few unpaved hiking trails. However, what there is of that is interesting and enjoyable. The map of the park suggests there is but one 'soft trail'. However, along with a web of short trails connecting the disc golf 'holes', there is at least one longer trail not shown on the map. It runs from an unmarked northern trailhead just at the border of Suwanee park, along the creek and then, eventually, meets up with the only partially mapped soft trail running between the two parking areas. I say 'eventually' because I lost the trail somewhere deep in the heart of the swamp and had to bushwack my way back to civilization, at one point crossing a small creek using a rotted, shaky fallen tree. All good fun. It's not like you can get lost in this park and it would have been easier had it not rained the previous day, making creek crossing somewhat dicey. Even the marked soft trail is incompletely shown on the map. Were it not for that experience, I would have marked Suwanee as rating only two stars. For me, there just isn't much interest in walking on wide asphalt and concrete paths. But the potential for creekside trail exploration provides an additional star. Still, if you like to run, this may be your ticket, particularly since the paved path connects to two other local parks. You can run a long way. read more

This park is part of the Suwanee Greenbelt that connects to George Pierce Park. There are multiple spots where you can park with the majority being on the left side as you enter off of Buford Hwy. You can also hang a right and go up the mini hill where you will end at the bathrooms, pavilion, and access to the trail. I find this park to be peaceful and well shaded. The trails are paved or on wooded platforms above the riverbeds and swamp-like areas. There are other side trails that are purely a dirt path you can also take. One interesting thing I encountered while at this park is the Frisbee 18 hole course. Yes, think of it as mini golf in the woods but with a Frisbee .It was way cool seeing this girl with her bag full of Frisbee practicing/killing time/etc. read more

Plenty of parking and trail heads. Restrooms, maps, picnic areas. Wide paved trails intermingled with off road soft trails and disk golf course. Beautiful green oasis along the Suwanee Creek with rolling hills. Follow for 5+ miles and connect to George Pierce Park trail. Lots of walkers, a few joggers and fewer riders made for a very pleasant yet challenging trail. Approach boardwalks and bridges carefully due to slippery moss. Highly recommend as the perfect nature respite. Spotted lots of squirrels, fowl and a couple of does. read more

So when is getting lost cool? When it's a pretty day and you're at Suwanee Creek Park. I came here expecting to have a quick 1 mile walk around noon and ended up lost on the greenway. See, Suwanee Creek park is one of a few parks connected along a really gorgeous greenway path, but i'll get to that in a bit. The thing that set Suwanee creek apart from other parks for me were the soft trails, that weren't mandatory, but definitely gave you the feeling like you were on a nice hike. The paved trails were also very clean, no trash to speak of, and surprisingly not crowded, although it was a Wednesday around 12pm. I will say the paved trail/board walks are fairly flat most of the way, but the soft trails have a few nice hills. Both trails allow plenty of space for bikers also. The creek part of the name is evident as you see the water flowing alongside you, and it's really cool to see wetlands a golf disc throw away from the trails. So pretty. Just a note on the soft paths...i'd never heard of disc golf, but you'll notice yellow disc stations and "caution: flying disc" signs scattered about, that you should heed if you're on the soft trails. Suwanee Creek Park is on the southern end of the Suwanee Creek Greenway, which stretches about 4 miles from Suwanee Creek to George Pierce. Remember that 1 mile I thought I was going to walk? I ended up 2.5 miles in before I realized the trail wasn't looping back on itself, so unless you want to walk a few miles (nothing wrong with that), bring a friend and drop one car off at the other park! Restrooms are available at both ends of the greenway, although I don't remember seeing one at the midpoint park (Martin Farm), so plan accordingly! The trail goes under, then alongside McGinnis Ferry for a bit, which can be a little worrisome if there are speeders about, but it's only for a short walk, and there's a nice wide sidewalk that separates you from the cars. All in all, I can't find much wrong with this park. Very bicycle, pet and pedestrian friendly in a clean environment, complete with Disc golf! Do stop in if you're in the area read more

One of my favorite parts of Gwinnett is their dedication to the parks. Having traveled around the country I still find that way the parks were designed and have grown through the years are truly remarkable. The trails built in Suwanee are a dream come true and if you are in the area and have not checked it out I recommend you do! This park is connected to the Suwanee Town Center the George Pierce Park, which is equipped with playgrounds, hiking and recreational fields and courts for baseball, soccer and basketball. The combination of wood bridges, paved and gravel paths is really nice and the wildlife areas give a different feeling in various areas of the trail. I am personally a big fan of this trail and recommend to anyone on a bike or foot. read more

I really love this park. The bike/walk trails are well maintained and you rarely see any litter laying around. It's a great place to get a good jog or power walk session. The trail is peaceful with lots of friendly patrons also out there to break a sweat and get in a good workout. It's a friendly park for dog walking as well. If you live int the area or want a change of scenery, I highly recommend this Suwanee Greenway at this park. read more

As a runner, I love exploring new areas. Suwanee Creek is one of the best parks to run through in the county. 1. It's safe. When running between 6am-9pm, you'll ALWAYS find people walking/running/cycling which makes you feel comfortable as you walk through the woods. You never have to worry about getting lost because there are dozens of maps that show you exactly where you are. 2. It's shaded. Some days, I get lazy and don't want to wake up early in the morning and run before it gets too hot. The fact that most of the trails are shaded, allows me to run in 95 degree weather that feels like 80 degrees. 3. The scenery. The scenery changes at Suwanee Creek Park about every half mile. Some parts of the trail are dense woods, marshes, beautiful plants, neighborhoods and more. When running long distances, it helps to look at something new. 4. There is wildlife. If you are into nature and the outdoors, you will love seeing the birds, deer, butterflies and other creatures. The animals in their habitat give you an appreciation for life. If you are in the wet areas of the trail after it rains, be sure to keep an eye on snakes. You may find one sunbathing on the trail. 5. It's friendly. As mentioned before, there are always people on the trail. Some places you go to work out, everyone is in their own zone. Now, as an introvert, this is perfectly fine, but we're in the South! The southern hospitality on the trail is excellent. Everyone is smiling or waving to passerbyers *spell check* and the vibe is very welcoming. 6. Food. You can take the trail all the to Suwanee Park where you will find a BUNCH of food. Mellow Mushroom, Ice Cream, Italian, I mean you name it, and it is there. See you on the trail! read more

My grandma recently came from Korea and she wanted to go somewhere to exercise. I brought her here and she loved it! Suwanee Creek Park is connected to Suwanee Town Center and it is also connected to George Pierce park. If you want to finish the whole course, make sure you are free for at least 2 hours or so. The scenery is amazing and the walk is amazing as well! During your walk you may encounter wild animals like deers, rabbits, and squirrels! My grandma and I were walking and literally 5 ft away from us was a baby deer with its mom or dad. It felt like a free deer zoo You also go under the Mcginnis Ferry road, which is pretty cool. (I should have taken my phone with me to take pictures...) If you love nature and love to walk, this place is probably the best place to go! I am definitely coming back with my girlfriend! read more

The Silver Comet Trail used to be my favorite place to ride until I found this park. My breath was totally taken away. It is beautiful, peaceful, and serene. This park fell into my lap. I have been looking for a place to ride since I moved to Duluth. After friends kept telling me about it, I decided to check it out for myself. They love to run here. Well, I threw my bike in the back of my truck and made the short drive up Buford Highway. The park snuck up on me on the right side. When you pull in, it seems like you're driving down a long wooded driveway. You actually drive over a wooden bridge. Cute. The parking lots are small and covered in stones rather than pavement which is a nice environmental touch. Pulling into my parking spot, the "Nature Girl" in me couldn't help but smile. The air was amazing and the trees are magnificent! At this point, I was totally impressed. I took my bicycle out of the back of my truck and decided to ride. There are paved paths, similar to the silver comet trail, but in the creation of the greenway, they did not cut down nearly as many trees. Nature was practically touching you. In fact, if you didn't duck sometimes, you might actually get hit by a branch. The greenway path is several miles long and starts at Suwanee Creek Park and heads north under McGinnis Ferry Road and further. While taking in the earth, you enjoy paved paths, as well as wooden bridges. You'll also hear birds, squirrels, and the creek that the path runs along. It is so beautiful! This may be a long drive if you live in the city of Atlanta. If you live north, I highly recommend it. It's a great escape! read more

We love this park. One of our favorites for sure. We drive from Peachtree Corners to walk/run or use my bike whenever we can. Always clean, and not super packed which makes it easier to not run into anyone. we have gone the whole extent which stretches a good distance. Good place to walk your dogs as well. I cannot tell you how much I love this park! Whenever I have free time and the weather is nice, I try to hit this park with my family. Recently, I've also been going with some friends that moved into the area. We take our dogs here for exercise. There are the requisite covered picnic areas with the barbecue grills you see at all the parks but the real treasure is the beautifully maintained trail. There are always people walking/biking/running. The main trail is asphalt but they also have soft surface (dirt) trails in certain areas. The section that we walk is about 1.75 miles and it takes us about 1 hr to do the roundtrip. read more

I love this trail for a good Saturday bike ride with my kids or a long slow jog alone. The beauty of this path is that it's never busy and there are so many access points, parking is never an issue. I suggest starting at the southern end (Suwanee Creek Park) area and riding up for a light lunch and Rita's gellato at Suwanee Town Center. The round trip will be a very manageable distance for even novice kids (our party did it with one on training wheels) and the mid-point snack stop is a nice break for the shorter legs. They are doing some maintenance on the greenway and it's not marked at the parking areas where the path is closed so be aware. We started off 4 weeks ago only to get stopped at Martins Farm by construction...whaa, whaaaa. This week it was open to Town Center but our plan was to ride up to George Pierce Park and grill up a picnic lunch...rats, foiled again. The trail is closed at L'ville/Suwanee Rd and you can't make it to the park without leaving the trail and taking some surface streets which we weren't prepared to do with one on training wheels. When it's all open and in repair, this is a tough track to beat for a family outting either on feet or wheels although I wouldn't recommend skates, too many boardwalks for that. Oh, yea, don't miss the picnic area on the creek side of the trail at Martins Farm tucked back in off the trail. It's a great spot for a sack lunch and some pictures. Sorry, to clarify why I'm a 3 not 4 star review is that they are not posting the trail closings at the parking areas...it would be very helpful to know when starting out exactly how far you're going to make it. read more

They have since opened up the second half of the trail (well partly... I will get to that later). I would like to correct my last review and clarify that you do NOT have to cross McGinnis Ferry to continue on the greenway... you simply hang left, travel on the sidewalk for a little bit and you will find the entrance to the rest of the greenway on your left. Once you pass the Martin Farms parking lot and travel another mile or two, you will come to a fork in the road. It is my understanding that taking the left path will take you on the rest of the greenway to the end, at Suwanee Creek Elementary. However, that portion is now closed. For how long, I do not know. Instead, you can take the right path, which takes you through a neighborhood and to Town Center Park. To this day, I have not been able to travel the full length of the greenway due to the closures :( read more

This trail is really close to my home, however the entrance is easy to miss if you don't know what you're looking for and also traffic will be packed during rush hour so be aware! Despite it being close to subdivisions there isn't that much foot traffic, just the usual joggers or older couples walking! The full trail is about 5 miles each way! It starts at the creek and then ends at Gibbs park! This trail is a little tricky because it doesn't circle back to the parking locations so you have to pace yourself or you won't make it back to your car before sun down! The trail is so enchanting and full of life! At certain hours you can see deer grazing in scenic areas and there is so much wild life! Also if you're into frisbee tossing there is a field for you to practice and challenge yourself! The reason why I docked a star is because the trail does not circle back and that parking can get a little difficult because there are only about 10-15 spots in designated locations! And also the entrance to the trail is hidden in between the trees and it gets really hard to go into during traffic! But overall is is amazing and it is my go to area to walk my dog! read more

I love this trail, it's beautiful to walk, run or bike on. The view of all the trees and streams really keep your mind off the running. The trail is either paved or decked (no dirt) the entire way. You can track your progress with the mile marker located along the trail. I use the McGinnis Ferry between Buford Hwy and Satellite Blvd on McGinnis Ferry. There is a parking lot there for the trail, watch out it does get busy if there is something going on at the athletic center near by and tends to spill into the trail parking. There is a map there that shows you the trail path and mileage. I tend to use the flat trail which is about 5 miles, there is also a pretty hilly path to the left. There are restrooms available on the trails but, you can always just use the woods :). Never really see it crowded, there is plenty of room so you won't feel like you are running next to someone. Great place to try out to break the boring gym pattern for excersize. Parking can be problematic if something is going on, so have an alternative place to park. there are other places along the trail, so be ready to move to it. This is the only down side read more

this is just such a nice park. there are several small parking areas along the greenbelt so you can just hop on/hop off for short walks if you want to see different areas of the park, or park near the beginning/end and do the whole trail. it goes for miles and miles. don't let the "end" fool you....you can keep walking through the undeveloped portion of trails as well. this pathway is a delightful mix of concrete, asphalt, and raised wooden pathways over the waterbogs, with a few options of soft pack trail. there are pavillions, bathrooms, and a few water fountains. it's open to cyclists and joggers. plenty of wildlife can be seen as you run/walk/bike through this gem in the suburbs. read more
