The pretty Todd Pond offers a nice place to sit and relax and also allows fishing. A couple of shelter houses and a gazebo, with picnic tables, are available. The playground area is great - swings, slides, climbing structures, seesaw, and more. A paved walking trail winds through the park. A clean restroom is available, and there are two paved parking lots available on either side.

This is the Mushroom House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati. The amount of detail is really breathtaking: circular steel steps, deck rails of wood shingles, stained glass windows, tiled ceilings... of course, I had to snap some pics. How often do we come to Cin City. The original owner/builder by the name of Terry Brown has passed away in 2008. If you're passing through Cincinnati you have to stop by the Mushroom House. This is the most…read moreunique real house I have ever seen. It is a relatively young house, when it comes to house age. It was started to get built by architect Terry Brown in 1992 and completed in 2006. Terry Brown him self resided in it until his passing in 2008. This house looks like a mushroom from a certain angle, and like an owl from another. It is a fairytale house in the real world. There's so much fine detail, there's no wonder it had taken this genius man 14 years to complete this artistic masterpiece of a home. The spiral orange stair case was chained off not allowing access to the public. There was a car parked in the driveway as well as a surveillance camera. They also had a "no trespassing" sign. The land around, although very minimal is very well groomed and well kept. Something tells me there are people who currently reside here. I don't know how I would feel about living in a home that gets so much attention and that is always being photographed. The Mushroom House is a must see in Cincinnati. Azaleas and crab apple trees are amongst the varieties. Nothing was in bloom during our visit. There is a mix of small and large trees. Signs inform guests of the scientific name of the specimen. A few of the most impressive features are the section of Redwood tree, large piece of petrified wood, and the juniperus utahensis tree. The section of Redwood has markers at 50 year old intervals. The tree dates back to 200 CE. Unfortunately, some people have tried to scratch things into it. Located next to the slice of Redwood is a petrified piece of wood. The outside has the wood grain found on bark. Inside looks like granite. The pink, black and brown grains are magnificent. It's amazing what nature can do. The juiperus utahensis has these eye catching offshouts that give the tree a beautifully unique look. I would love to have one of these trees planted in our yard. I can only imagine how long it took for these trees to grow so tall. The Rowe Arboretum is surrounded by a fence. The fence helps protect the greenery from animals that could destroy it. Posted signs notify guests that leashed pets are welcome. The path is gravel. That could hard on paws. Maybe stick to leashed lizards. All in all, our visit took less than an hour. Take care while driving in and out. The road that leads in/out is rather narrow.

It's winter so no one else was there at first ... I gather it's popular for fishing in warmer weather. No one was at the booth to collect any fee this time of year. No hawk, eagle or ducks but a ton of vultures .. around 50. They were eating something ..i walked around the lake to see .. it appears they were eating their own ... just bones and feathers left. There is a boat dock and a river. Saw a kingfisher at the river. I'd spotted several but this was the first time got a pic .. they usually are too quick to fly away.

They do (not now of course) have boat rentals. There are really 2 places to park. One is right when you pass the small range/collect station you go a bit and look to your right. There is a kinda not noticeable entrance to a small parking/fishing area. Then if you drive a bit more around there is a much bigger parking area. There is also the rental building there. It has some nice places to lay down,walk, and just chill out. So do go and relax and enjoy.

Signs are posted with a phone number to checks if fields are already reserved. The trail is a paved multi-use trail. It snakes around the various sports fields. Pavement is pretty smooth with only minor cracks. A great area to learn how to ride a bike. Use of bikes and skates are allowed on the trail. Dogs are also allowed. A large play structure is situated in the middle of the park. There is a also sandbox with two diggers. There are some shady areas that would be nice for a picnic. If a baseball game is in progress make sure to watch out for fly balls.

While the entire Cincinnati riverfront is gorgeous, we couldn't find a place that was covered where we could eat. As we were driving by we saw this park! Parking was $5 and the park was empty except for our party. The bridge provided covering from the rain and there were many picnic tables surrounding the park. The play structure is made out of trex building material and included LOTS of elements for our kids to play. Swing set, monkey bars, climbing rope, etc. the ground is squishy. There is a good amount of noise from the cars driving over the bridge overhead, but it was a sweet spot to eat lunch and let the kids work off some steam.

Valley View Nature Preserve was a grassroots vision to save 190 acres from being bulldozed for…read moredevelopment. Wetlands, woodlands and prairieland are all found in this one location.The project goes beyond saving nature. The project is also about saving history. The land includes one of the last family farms on the East part of Cincinnati. Educational opportunities have been held in the past. From what I can tell, there are two entrances to the Valley View Nature Preserve. One is located at 790 Garfield Ave. That one is located to the left of a large house. Signs mark where the trails begin. A well kept set of stairs are set into the side of a hill. From there... markings are few, and there are times it is hard to tell if one is even on a propper trail. After approximately 20 minutes of meandering about, we came across some very wide trails. All with markers. It was while hiking on these trails that we discovered the other entrance. This one is located behind Pattison Elementary School. (Thank you GPS for that information.) Parking at this location is more plentiful than at the Garfield location. Guests were parked along the fence. A large gateway invites visitors in. The gateway's construction was an Eagle Scout project. I HIGHLY recommend entering form the location behind Pattison Elementary. Not only for the abundance of parking, but because the trails are easier to navigate. Trails that were wider (still not sure if the first trails we were walking were official trails,) were easy to hike. The wide trails are smoth. Few tree roots were exposed. Many small birdhouses were along parts of the trail. Several were occupied. From one we saw a small blue bird fly out. Deer and horse tracks could be seen. Trails are clean. In the spring, the trails we were on were flanked with lush foliage. If not for the constant sounds of gun fire from the Milford Gun Club, Valley View Nature Preserve would be quite peaceful. Chirping of birds, and the wind rushing through the trees were welcome signs of Spring. At one point we thought we heard the whoing of owls. It sounded as it there was some sort of squabble. There are no sounds from cars or other business. (Other than the gun club.) For our next visit, I plan on going before or after range time. We also plan on bring a few books to donate. A small lending library is located by the Pattison entrance.

On Sundays in the summer a musician plays the carillon bells in the tower for about an hour in the afternoon. Bring some blankets, lay in the sun, and watch the clouds while you listen to the carillon. Behind the playground is a ravine and a hiking trail. Take the stairs down to the old boat house. This seems to be a popular spot to take engagement pictures and senior pictures. From there follow the trail into the woods and along the creek. It's a great place to take your kids to learn about trees, bugs, and other outdoorsy things. The trail does not go very far before the creek makes a sharp left turn and it becomes difficult to go further. We wandered around for a while trying to find the continuation of the trail, but it seems that it ends at the bend in the creek. From there you backtrack to the park. This park is within walking distance of our house, so on our way home we pass through the Mariemont square and always get some ice cream from Graeters. A great way to end any afternoon. It can be hard to find this park, but Mariemont has put a sign pointing the way in the median on Wooster Pike.

This is a lovely little off-leash dog park. The dogs are friendly and so are their humans! Nice…read morepaved trails, plenty of stations with doggy bags to pick up poop, and little places around the trails with bowls set out for the pups to get refreshed. There are no water fountains in the park so people bring jugs of fresh water and leave them out by silver bowls. You see some Wildlife including beautiful birds and butterflies. There are about 10 parking spaces but the few times that I've gone to the park, I've been able to find a parking space. This park is a great, hidden gem!

The sunset was breathtaking. We saw families and people of all different ages. It was a little difficult to find, but there's convenient parking right by the trail.
