Apparently the employees today (8/3/23) are offended by their customers thanking them as they make a point to stay very silent after you express your gratitude. I regret actually pulling forward to the door to get my food because she was on a timer in her line when there was no other car in the drive trough. While picking up food for a sick friend I received the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I waited In line for over 15 minutes without an order being taken in front of me. I called into the restaurant and the person that answered the phone said she was in the back and would go see what's going on. At that time a single order was taken. The car pulled around and we sat again for another 5 minutes. I called again and was told that if I didn't like it to go home and make my own food. Terrible Service! read more

If you want your food quickly (it is a fast-food restaurant) and hot, you probably want to keep driving. The new remodel is not very successful because the new dining room is small and crowded (even with about a dozen diners). It is loud (echo chamber) and there is the incessant beeping of all the kitchen equipment. The place is probably understaffed (a McDonald's tradition) so you can expect room temperature food and your order to be wrong. And I say "now approaching" because we are STILL STANDING HERE. We arrived 9:45 and the person in the drive-through informed us that they were closed. After a bit of back and forth from my husband and the drive through employee he spoke to the manager and was told "what she say" over the head set. And at 9:50 they said they were closed. That time that was wasted arguing could've been used to make our food. McDonald's needs to review and assess all of their employees, from managers to employees. read more

This McDonalds has been updated recently, so I am able to upgrade this location to four stars. I'm glad this high elevation restaurant with Mountain View's near the ski slopes has improved with a new interior, better layout, and landscaping. It's still a bit congested due to traffic into the attached gas station/quick mart, but there is plenty of parking. read more

This is THE WORST McDonald's that I ever visited. Everything is wrong with this location. Workers are incompetent and the visit there was a total disaster. here's what went wrong with our visit (it was me and 2 of my friends). 1) They have a kiosk to place an order to be taken to your table when ready. I used the kiosk, paid, and placed the order locator on my table. Not only was my order not taken to the locator, they didn't know how to deal with kiosk orders. Also, what's available thru the kiosk and what you pay for at the kiosk may not be actually available. There's a discrepancy between the kiosk at this location and the actual availability. Train your stuff to have a kiosk, and if you can't, post a sign to not use it. This was so annoying. 2) I ordered hot tea, and I had it in other McDonald's locations before. They handed me an empty cup (!). I objected that this is not hot tea, it's an empty cup, then they substituted it for coffee. 3) Our wait time was about 20 or 30 minutes. Unacceptable for a fast food location. My friend had to get a refund after half an hour because his food was not even on the way. The restaurant by that time was not even busy anymore. 4) Too understaffed to even clean the tables in the dining area 5) Too many problems at the register (only one register by the way). In the 30 minutes I was there I observed 3 instances when they had to address some issues involving the manager coming to the register to fix things 6) My friend ordered a sweet tea - they were out. I tried to get a Dr Pepper - foam comes out 7) Employees running around in the kitchen giving the audible "Damn!", "Crap!" kind of atmosphere Don't go there unless management fixes this read more

This is the slower, most incompetent McDonald's I've been to. They didn't have enough money to make change for $10 at the drive thru and I had to wait for that. When I finally got to the window, the employee was complaining about how she kept messing up drink orders. She then asked if I had the quarter pound special. Yes. But I received a Big Mac special. I really don't expect much when I go McDonald's but this is by far the worst McDonald's I have ever been to. I sat at in the drive through waiting to order for more than five minutes when someone finally responded. I was greeted by laughter and a "what do you want." Once I ordered I waited at the window only to find that the McDonald's employees were swearing and making fun of a previous customer. He continued to talk to his coworkers and barely payed attention to me. Just enough to give me the food I ordered and for me to pay. Came into banner elk from out of town and it was late so we rode thru the drive thru at this McDonald's. Basically there was no one there and had to wait 20 minutes for our food. It was brought to us by a guy smoking a cigarette. When we got to our cabin I opened a double quarter pounder and when I took the first bite the meat was actually pink. I really didn't think they had to even cook these patty's but this is the first time I've had a burger raw from McDonald's. It didn't taste right so needless to say I ate Oreos from Fred's mercantile for dinner. Thanks McDonald's for making our first night in banner elk one to remember. read more

Went after dinner on a Sunday evening just for a milkshake -- wanted to curb my sweet tooth. They couldn't do shakes. They could do sundaes or cones. I settled for a sundae, and one for my brother in passenger seat. Very poorly ran. After I got my order rung up everything I ordered they were out of. The manager comes over and tells me she can't refund me and mumbles something underneath her breath then walks away. While she's on her personal phone on a phone call. Then I ordered a milkshake of course it don't work. So I ordered a Carmel frappe they tried to give me on that been sitting on the side when I walked in there. To top it all off the person that was sweeping /mopping the floors started cleaning the tables with the mop that was used on the floor. Very disturbing. Not only every time I come here it take 30 mins for anything! But I go and get breakfast at 7:45 this morning and when I got home the biscuit I got was so hard it was inedible! They should not be allowed to be called Fast Food. 9 times out of 10, it takes more than 15-20 mins to get an order to you. 8 out of 10 it is wrong. They rather stand and chitchat to one another or their friends, better half or whomever than deliver customer service. Most every trip I have come to this particular establishment, the employees are using vulgar language, behind counter, outside the building or wherever they are located. If I was the owner of this franchise, I'd be finding some better management, supervisors and staff. I have maybe met 2 employees out of many that seem to care to have the job, want to earn their paycheck and offer descent customer service. Even though the entire store has been remodeled recently the service is still horrible. They can't seem to make 1 correct order, not once have they made make right and they are always out of something and they literally tell people it will be 30 mins before they can even take their order sometime. They even close whenever they want, they close earlier than they are supposed to often. This has to be the worst McDonald's I've ever been to, it's really sad that it is the closest one to me.
