They were sweet, warm, and the perfect little treat to snack on while studying. I also got the turtle latte, which was really good and had a nice balance of sweetness without being too overpowering. The owner was friendly, which always makes a difference, especially at a local coffee spot. Overall, this was a great quick visit with good coffee, tasty bites, and a nice atmosphere. The disappointment began before we even walked through the front door. The entire entrance looked more like a junkyard than a tea room: oversized plastic chess pieces, random wood on the wall where a sign had been removed, dark staining that looked neglected, broken flower pots, old rusted garden furniture. My wife and I almost turned around. Had we been paying that day, we likely would have left. But we had a gift certificate, so we gave it a chance. What concerned me even more was the safety. The steps were in poor condition, and the handrail was extremely loose, moving several inches side to side. As someone with a disability, that felt unsafe. Accessibility should be basic. Inside, the owner and our server were kind and welcoming, and I genuinely appreciated that. But both teapots had been placed on the table before we were seated, and my tea was already cold. I had to ask for hot water just to have a proper cup, which I wouldn't expect from an afternoon tea. The biggest disappointment was the food. At forty five dollars per person, ninety for two, I expected quality and attention to detail. Instead, the sandwiches and pastries were among the poorest I've ever been served. I could only manage a couple of small sandwiches and one dessert before giving up. What surprised me most after our visit was reading the five-star reviews. Based on our experience, it is difficult for me to understand how this place earns that level of praise. I hope this is taken as constructive criticism. The staff was kind, but kindness can't overcome serious maintenance and quality issues.
