Poor service took 15 minutes to get our food, missing the toy and box for the saja boys meal that they are advertising and they just said "oh we are out" no alternative given, several items missing requiring us to wait in line to complete the order (drink cup and a hashbrown). Then when we opened up the sandwiches- all of them had the wrong type of egg (had folded egg). Very disappointing and no remedy offered. read more

They couldnt get our iced carmalatte right. We ordered a large and got a and it came HOT! We asked to have ut redone and we got a SMALL! Our fries were cold to lukewarm. There was whipped cream at the bottom of my shake, i did not move my straw in any motion to make it so whipped cream went to the bottom. First why have 2 driv thru lanes but only use one lane. The drive thru screen wasn't working correctly so my order never came up on the screen. Placed my order and paid didn't receive a receipt for the order. Picked up order and they asked me what my order was because the the system wasn't working. Ordered 2 cheeseburgers no pickles. I received 1 cheeseburger no pickle, ketchup or mustard and barely wrapped in the paper. The other burger was correct and so was the happy meal. This McDonalds has a real issue with meal prep and meal correctness. It is very apparent that there us no management in charge that has any clue how service to customer is to be accomplished. I was staying in spirit lake for a couple weeks and for 3 days straight I went to McDonald's for breakfast before my 12 hour shift The last two times I went their was a black onion placed in my McGriddle BOTH times.I've worked in the kitchen at mcdonalds many years ago and I'm quite unsure how this could even happen...leaves me to believe it was purposeful. read more

The food is adequate McDonald's food. The service used to be good until they fired the best manager out there, Marcus. Marcus was the best man ever he wasn't only a great manager, but a great friend. Used the drive-thru to order 3 meals. Didn't expect any issues, I don't know why I thought that. First they couldn't make any shakes or McFlurry's because the ice cream machine was broken. Next we had to pull ahead of the drive-thru window and wait for our meals. Eventually one of the staff came out with a tiny little bag that couldn't contain our meals. The staff member looked a bit concerned and asked what our order was. A few minutes later the staff returned with the correct orders. She did apologize for our troubles and was excited to say that the manager put 3 free ice cream cone coupons in the bag for us to use at our next visit! I thanked her politely and told her we would not be coming back to this McDonald's location ever. I think the only thing they did correct tonight was process my debit card! Maybe that staff member could be put in charge of the ice cream machine or the store! Makes me wonder what McDonald's founder Ray Kroc would think of the service his stores offer today. This McDonalds is conveniently located near almost anywhere you want to go in the Okoboji and Arnolds Park resort areas. It's also located on a corner that offers you 2 routes to and from the town of Spirit Lake. When my son was younger, this McDonald's was also a good place for him to expend a little boyish energy on the indoor play structures. The other thing about my part of the Midwest is that people are frugal, even in resort areas. And when you have those big family days out or are meeting your friends early in the morning, and you can chose from all those dollar menu items, every little bit helps. read more

I think this was the worst customer service experience I have ever witnessed. Not only did the man taking our order repeat his mistake multiple times but he also was very rude. Repeating "you want a medium fry?" after we had clearly stated we wanted a medium Sprite multiple times. He then proceeded to yell "oh my gosh" as he continued to express frustration until a woman came to finish our order and immediately understood what we were ordering. read more

It's McDonalds. While I wouldn't call it nearly as atrocious as some previous reviewers, it certainly wasn't the best McDonalds meal I've had, either. The interior was clean, and the service was prompt, given the number of people ordering. When we sat down with our food, however, it was...stale. The fries were fresh, but under salted and underfried (they still tasted green.) My chicken nuggets were rubbery and tepid; they'd probably been sitting under a warmer for at least an hour+ So...it was calories in my body, but if I'd had other options, I would have opted elsewhere. read more

I really like this McDonald's. They are newly renovated/updated, and have a lot of outdoor shaded seating. The staff is friendly. Of course this is still fast food, and there are times when it gets busy crazy in there, but they try to do a good job for their customers. read more

Fries are always cold. When ask for fresh fries, customer service becomes unpleasant. Never a thank you or have a nice day. Clean store but the construction is as always a pain. Needs more seating inside. Drive through could use an update. read more

Since some of the summer restaurants are closed during the week days this last week of August, my friend and I decided to go to McDonald's in Okoboji today. It was around 2 pm so they weren't busy, but they had about 6 staff members working (??)...or goofing around. 2 or 3 of them were J1 Visa students who are here from foreign countries trying to learn some American culture and make a little money. We were sitting eating our food when they began yelling to each other, "Allah Akbar"..."Allah Akbar"..then laughing. The manage (males rude and disrespectful) told them "You better not yell that in an airport.ha ha ha" They laughed. I took offense to it because my son is a combat veteran who fought in both Iraq & Afghanistan and was injured. Also, can you imagine if there was a veteran with extreme PTSD in here while they were shouting this? I went up to the counter and the manager (and I say that word loosely) came over. I calmly stated that it was quite offensive to me to hear them shouting "Allah Akbar" that I have a son that fought,etc. He looks at me and says "That's not what they meant. They were speaking Thai to each other." Right.Not! I'm not stupid. I told him that and he was as disrespectful as his staff. If that's not what they meant why did he laugh and tell them not to say it in an airport? To top it all off...as we went out the door, two of them quietly, but loud enough for us to hear ..said it again. And they all laughed. There should be a zero tolerance policy for this kind of behavior. While these 6 employees behond the counter goofed off, we had to walk around the whole restaurant for a clean table. There were none, so we had to clean one off ourselves. The condiment/soda area was filthy with wrappers and spilled ketchup all over. Our good was barely warm. read more

I go to the McDonalds drive up quite often. This McDonalds is in an area that gets lots of tourists . The food is usually good but not all of the employees are pleasant. How hard can it be to say "Thank You " as you hand out change or food. NO... they don't smile or say anything to you. More like an attitude of "you're bothering me." Today when I was there the order was placed correctly, a quarter pounder, no cheese. When I got home and opened the box which had a no cheese label, it had 2 pcs of cheese. So, not only do they not know how to appreciate customers, they don't read order requests either. There is one person who is nice. Her name is Kelly. She works the drive up order window.
