Great place for breakfast. Food is always good. The young man that served us was very friendly and attentive.

This place is the definition of small town comfort food. The iced mocha is amazing, way better than anything from the big chains. The biscuits and gravy are something I could make at home but they just taste better here. My kids loved their over easy eggs and even cleared their plates. The waiter was friendly and the whole vibe is relaxed and welcoming. You seat yourself and it feels like everyone in the room already knows each other. Simple food done right. read more

KK has raised their prices...about 20-25% more than earlier this season. I suspect it's because of the flooding and lack of clientele. If the food was better or more creative than the run of the mill diner, I'd stick with them. But, it's not. Say goodbye to KK! read more

Service is really good. The food portions are great and a wide variety of breakfast options. The food itself is okay. No wait on a Thursday morning, we were able to seat ourselves. Coffee was just ok to my standards. Food came out quickly and bacon was extra crispy as ordered. I have been living and visiting the lakes area for my whole life. We decided to go to the Koffee Kup this morning to enjoy a nice breakfast. It didn't happen. Started out with the front step tripping me as I tried to enter the building. I didn't have a tape measure with me but they have a step that certainly isn't within the building code requirements for riser heights. They might just be looking at a future lawsuit if they don't fix that. Ordered the Kup special which was two pancakes, two strips of bacon, two eggs, hash browns, and a large orange juice. I also asked for Ketchup. 1. Eggs over medium were over cooked with egg grizzle all around them. 2. Pancakes were seemly made with several day old batter, absolutely no fluff to them at all. 3. Bacon was under cooked no crispness to it at all. 4. Hash browns tasted like the kind that need to be hydrated before you can use them. 5. Ketchup didn't taste like Heinz at all in fact the bottle label was about to come off (usually indicating that the bottles are refilled and used over and over again.) Total experience 4 Thumbs down, I put this place on my never again list. To add further insult, the total bill for two with a tip for the friendly waitress was $30. I've been to a lot of place that wheel out a giant cinnamon roll, but they are dry and tasteless, or places that have prefab, heat and eat ones, but the Koffee Kup has soft, delicious cinnamon rolls and they are huge. I absolutely love this little joint. I've lived at the Lakes for awhile and have watched plenty of Ma and Pa shops come and go, but this one is definitely meant to stay. Incredibly friendly environment and wonderful food. Prices are incredibly reasonable considering the prices down the road at Perkins or any other breakfast place in the Lakes. I tend to go there on the weekends during the fall and winter. The summers are quite crazy around here and Koffee Kup can become very filled up, but it is worth the wait! (I'm not a huge crowd person though). Anyway, I enjoy the staff, environment, and the food. Why not give it a try? read more

I have been going to this restaurant for almost 20 years every summer while vacationing in the Okoboji area. How the mighty have fallen. Can't tell you if if the food is still any good because we never got ours. After an hour we had enough and left. Not our waitress ever noticed. She never came by once to check on us, not even for a coffee refill. I have dealt with poor service before, but this is probably at top of the list now. To bad place always had good food, though they have gotten pricey from we noticed on the menu. But what good is good food if you can't get it! Shame on you Koffee Kup for allowing such poor service. I'm going to start this off by saying the food here is great! We have been coming here for years, but I'm not sure what happened this summer. The food is still marvelous, but the owner is not. We spend a good chunk of our summers up here, but due to how long it takes to find there, we came in three times. Whether I came in with 2 or 10 people, the owner acted annoyed and was very rude when I asked for a table. The waitresses are running around like crazy, the kitchen was backed up, tables were not getting bussed, and he just stood behind the counter doing nothing but barking more orders. Our coffees we not refilled until one of up hot up to track down a server, food took a minimum of 45 to get served, and they now nickel and dine you for everything. Using credit/debit card? $1. Want a to go container? $1. Want brown sugar with your oatmeal? $1. I'm very sad to see this place go downhill so quickly. O'Farrell Sisters will be our place going forward. Adding response to comment: Not correct in several of these statements other that the owner part. We were not told of the 45 min wait. Being short staffed is not the customer's issue. We ate out the whole weekend and the service didn't suffer at any of those places. The to go container that was requested was for the large glass of orange juice served to my young child that cost $3. This bottomless cup of coffee was only refilled once in the hour and a half we were there, and that was after I took our two cups to the counter myself to ask for a refill. read more

Even though the waitresses there are kinda surly, they'll at least pay attention to you and your order. Plus the food at the Family Diner will be HALF the price and twice the portions. The Koffee Kup has been a long standing business in Okoboji that only serves breakfast and lunch and had good hearsay reviews from the locals. The food was okay however I had asked to get egg whites and the server said she did not want to ask the cooks as they would yell at her. She said this has happened to her before. I proceeded to ask her if I could ask them, she said they would probably yell at me as well. What an unfortunate work culture... I have high cholesterol and do not think this request is atypical. Separating the yolk from the white does not add significant cooking time and I would be more than happy to wait for the few extra seconds it takes to do this. Additionally, the group next to us wanted to have an omelet without a specific ingredient and they could not do this because they used a pre-mix for their omelets. Koffee Kup is a nice old place to eat however do not expect any type of special requests to be accommodated. I also hope at some point the cooks get a little nicer to the servers. read more

I've been going to the koffee Kup every summer for 10 years. My family and I will never go there again. The waitress was unbelievably rude, I've never experienced anything like it. The eggs were rubbery and cold. There's no kids menu. We were scolded for bringing in a water bottle. I asked if I could get the orange juice that came with my breakfast-before my breakfast and the waitress barked you'll get it with your breakfast. Terrible customer service. read more

Went here for the first time. I attempted to order the "bottom of the lake omelette" without any mushrooms. After I asked for no mushrooms the waitress said that she has to charge me for the build your own omelette and charge me for each additional toppings which is $3 more expensive. This makes absolutely no sense. Why the hell would I be charged more for using less of their ingredients. Their reasoning for it?? "It gets really busy in the summer and it complicates the orders for the chef." Is there one chef here that can read "no mushrooms" and another that can't? read more

Visiting from California and I love this place. The food is menu is comfort, breakfast. Cooked from scratch, it's as close to homemade as you can get. And the servers check back several times to make sure it was prepared the way you wanted it. The prices are reasonable. The place was full yet the servers were friendly, got the orders right, kept coffee and water full and checked back several times to make sure I was ok. If you have not been to this business, it is very small and a very casual environment, at best. They have the usual giant cinnamon rolls that seem to have become commonplace at many Okoboji restaurants. In the past, food has been average. I have gone here off and on for many years. There seems to have been a steep decline in the businesses customer service concerns. I our last few visits, wait times had increased and food quality had changed somewhat to cold toast and overdone eggs. Our final visit took twenty minutes to get coffee and menus, another ten for our order to be taken, and a half an hour for thin, chewey, overdone very greasy omelets. There were a total of eight tables of two to four people; most of which were already served. Suffice to say that service was poor. When we arrived, no one even glanced are way for two or three minutes and then one of the servers told us to sit wherever we wanted. That should have been our warning. Hearing the two servers bickering should have been the next. We stayed because our past experiences were most of the time at least average and we were hungry. We felt like we didn't know the secret handshake or something. We got the message though: customers are more of an annoyance than anything. And why wait for food that is marginal, at best? Also ordered a couple of eggs over easy on the side, even though they don't really have an a la carte menu. Was disappointed to get the bill and see that he charged me for a second full breakfast minus the toast. $4.75 for 2 eggs? Ridiculous. Food was fine, if not a little bland. Place is clean. Service is adequate, though it took a couple of hints before finally asking for a coffee refill. And I was sitting at the counter. It wasn't particularly busy. Walked in yesterday & asked for a smoothie & a coffee to go & an older gentleman said we would still have to wait our turn as there were people waiting ahead of us to get their food. Ok fine. So we stood near the register until someone asked us if we'd been helped & we said no & she nicely asked what she could get for us. She had our drinks out to us in a few minutes. Today we tried to do the same thing. Walked in, stood where you stand if you need something & the same man from yesterday grabbed his pad of paper & pen, didn't even look at us & went directly to the people behind us to ask how many in their party. Were we invisible?! Why advertise smoothies & coffees online if you can't get them to go. We quickly walked out & will never be back, all because of that man. Rude. read more
