Have eaten at this McDonalds for years and have never been to a more friendly place. Always a smile and the best coffee in town.

We came in for lunch as a group of six, traveling through town, where we could sit at two booths, or at the soda bar across from the grill. The server met us with menus we could use inside or outside on a being developed patio. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and burgers from the menu, not knowing what to expect. One thing I was sure about was that if this diner didn't have something special, it would have never survived as long as it has. The appetizers- (pictured) corn ribs & fried mushrooms were good and served to order. The hamburgers and fries were fresh, warm, and well-prepared. The price was a little more than expected but the hamburgers they delivered were more than what was expected as well and I would order the same again.

I prefer the beer-battered chicken tender basket. The chicken tenders are huge. My only food complaint is the fries. They are a little heavy handed on the seasonings. The restaurant is small, with four booths and a bar counter with seating. It's very cozy and clean. Our server was very rude, unfortunately, the last time we came in. The other owner thankfully handled it with grace, and we will continue to frequent Anchor 66 due to her response.

Eat at Jack's Place in Agra…read more Lisa, the friendly energetic hard-working owner, came out from the kitchen after our meals were served. She stopped by our table to visit and check on us. I was interested in the history of the building and big pictures of the couple that hung on the walls. Those are her parents and that is Jack, the name given to the restaurant in his honor. The building was constructed around 1906 and has a history of many uses. It is especially sentimental to Lisa, because of her father's unique tie to the building and previous ownership by relatives. She has a great story about all of this. Lisa opened Jack's Place a couple of years ago; her first (and very successful) venture into the restaurant business. Agra is a small town. How small? No Dollar Store small. Dogs probably sleep undisturbed the middle of the streets at night, small. The excellent reviews drew us to Jack's Place for breakfast. We dropped in between the breakfast and lunch time rush. We settled in at a tall table centered in the building. The welcoming young lady on duty brought menus and took our coffee orders. Big Jack's Breakfast for me: two over easy, hashbrowns, bacon and a biscuit with gravy. My wife said that is a lot of food. She ordered a smaller version of this meal, Small Jack's Breakfast. The eggs cooked just right, thick smokey bacon, crispy hash browns and a big biscuit split in half smothered with house made sausage gravy. Yeah, it was a lot of food. It was all good! Go for a delicious breakfast or lunch Tuesday through Saturday, and Dinner on Friday nights. You will enjoy the food, and say hi to Lisa! Not sure where Agra is? It is easy to find it with these simple directions. From downtown Tryon, hop on the 105 east bound and drive 4.8 miles. Where the 105 T's with 18 go north 1.8 miles. Jack's Place will be on your left. 10 am is the best time of day to travel, rush hour traffic is usually over by then. As you pull into town make sure your radar detector is on and watch your speed. The town's largest industry is issuing speeding citations. You're Welcome! Wait, you don't even know where Tryon, OK is? You ain't from around here, are ya?

The 50's-style diner setup is awesome, but the real fun is picking up the phone at your table to place your order. You don't see that anymore--and I absolutely loved it! We arrived just past the lunch rush, so things were nice and relaxed. I walked in thinking I'd order a burger... but the Chicken Fried Steak called my name, and I'm glad it did. Perfect portion size--not one of those giant plate-hogs--and served with mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The cole slaw deserves its own shoutout: rough-cut cabbage, creamy mayo dressing, and served cold just the way I like it. Everything on the plate was delicious. My wife went with the Chili Cheese Burger and potato wedges, and she gave it a big thumbs-up. And since it's a diner, I had to finish with a slice of Coconut Cream Pie. Let's just say--mission accomplished. Creamy, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. If you love classic diners, friendly service, and comfort food done right, Hamburger King is absolutely worth the stop.

I returned for their buffet, certain they would redeem themselves. Well, there was no BBQ on the buffet - no ribs, no brisket, no pulled pork. Instead, there was meatloaf, Cajun fish, fried chicken, catfish nuggets, hamburger steak, overcooked dry pork chops & enchiladas. No BBQ! The fried chicken was good & my niece said the catfish nuggets were great. I see no reason to drive 40 miles from home again for their Sunday buffet. Sorry, Mugsy! I've really enjoyed your BBQ in the past.

I arrived and was put off a little by the sign that said it was cash only, their card reader was down. This sort of stuff drives me crazy because I am usually going to these type of restaurants as a destination and it took me an hour to get there. I didn't have cash, but luckily the gas station next door has an ATM. So let's just say I went into Mugsy's a little grumpy. I was seated in a nice booth in a clean dining room and placed my order. I ordered the 4M sandwich with onion rings, and I ordered a brisket philly cheesesteak as a to go order that I plan on eating for dinner. Ended up getting the peach fried pie as well. Food came quickly with large portions, especially for the price. The prices are very reasonable for bbq in this day and age. The owner came out and talked with each patron individually and was very welcoming. When he found out I came specifically to eat, he ran into the other room and brought me a couple of mugs and a to go menu to have if I was ever driving through. He was very nice and I enjoyed the conversation. Some might think he's trying a bit too hard, but I thought it was a nice touch. Especially since he seemed very genuine in his excitement to meet everyone. The 4 M sandwich is a 4 meat sandwich with brisket, Pulled pork, bologna, and sausage, on a very sturdy bun. The meat was all good, except the brisket was a little over done. But not really a big deal, as the sandwich was pretty good. I did NOT care for the BBQ sauce (and I LOVE sauce) as it seemed more like ketchup than BB sauce. It wasn't offensive, I just didn't like it as I felt it was rather bland. The onion rings were 10/10, my favorite style. The peach fried pie was probably the best fried pie I've ever had. So tasty. I will definitely be back to Mugsy's to try some other menu items and bring some of the family back some other time. Food 8/10 Service 8/10 Atmosphere and value 9/10
