Very friendly staff. The food is plenty full. The best barbecue and desserts. Try the sliced brisket. Melt in your mouth tender. The chicken fried steak the table next to us received looked amazing.

Smoked chicken wings in BBQ sauce - sweet tangy flavor

This is a great family atmosphere with food that may have a twist, making it a unique place to dine in, here in Oklahoma. Drinks are served in Mason jars, setting the atmosphere of a family restaurant. I ordered an appetizer, smoked chicken with BBQ sauce. First impression was the nice tangy flavor of the sauce followed up with the succulent juices of the meat. Loved it and they were some of the best wings I've ever eaten. Next was the BLT with fried green tomatoes. I was forced to eat green tomato pie as a kid and the memory wasn't not a good one. But if green tomatoes were being served in a restaurant, surely it had to be good. First bite was pleasant with an unexpectedly good flavor of the Mayo coming to the front. Next was the amazing peppery flavored, fried green tomatoes! This was definitely one of the best BLTs I have eaten! Order this if you want something on the lighter side but with great flavor. My wife ordered a 2 meats platter, brisket and sausage. I didn't sample the sausage but the brisket was tender and portion size was generous! We shared a fried cherry pie with vanilla been ice cream. The first flavor to hit me was that of the glaze on top, the same flavor you would expect from a fresh glazed donut! The warm, cherry filled pie with ice cream was a great way to complete are lunch. Staff is friendly and Woo Hoo! We met the owner Mugsy who is everything and more from what you would expect from this taste of Oklahoma.

Great homemade food, pleasant personalities, especially the owner, who really "works the room" in a good way when he's there. Ambiance is relaxed, country home cooking restaurant, featuring nicely smoked and prepared meats in VERY generous portions.

Reviewed May 4, 2018 Health score 83 as of 1/2020 Mugsy's Grubhouse is putting Yale Oklahoma back on the map! We were headed to the Oklahoma Steam & Gas Engine Show in Pawnee when we discovered MUGSY'S GRUBH0USE in Yale, OK. The place has a wide variety of sandwiches, BBQ platters, salads, baked potatoes, steaks, great sides, beer and wine, and a kids menu. I had the GRUBHOUSE burger and my wife the Fried Green Tomato BLT. Both were delicious and the fries were perfect. There were quite a few diners in the restaurant and I noticed that just about everything on the menu was being ordered; a testament to it is "all good!" The servers are very attentive to the customers and everyone works to keep the place spotless. The decor in the restaurant is country and has a great collection of historical photos from the area. There are also, some beautiful sketches and paintings on display, which were done by a local artist. You could spend an hour just touring the walls. The owner is a hands-on guy. He was seating customers, busing tables, checking with customers to make sure orders were correct and took the time to visit with everyone in the place. I would say this guy has more energy than a 6 year old on a sugar high the day after Halloween! On the way out we were looking at great collection of pictures on the wall. He noticed our interest and took the time to tell us about the historical pictures, the art work and gave us a tour of the place along with explaining the history of his business. They have large inside and outside dining area and are able handle some fairly large groups. The outside dining area is covered. Some of the tables are made from old wagon wheels and they have a couple of very unique windmill ceiling fans to keep you cool. There is plenty of parking in the back. As the word gets out the MUGSY'S GRUBHOUSE will become a must do destination for bikers, car clubs and anyone wanting a great meal. It is really neat to see entrepreneurs such as this owner reinvesting their time and money into these small towns in Oklahoma. Spur of the moment road trip lead us here and we weren't disappointed! Service was very pleasant and quick. The fried mushrooms were fresh and the breading wasn't heavy. The size of them shocked us, you normally don't get such a great size and amount of them also at other places. The 2 meat had sliced brisket and bologna. Not heavy on the smoke but still amazing. Fried okra was very fresh. Onion rings were cut thick like I prefer but didn't seem fresh. My husbands steak was cooked to perfection at med rare and he said was worth every penny. Baked potato was good and the grilled asparagus was wonderful. Never made it to the bread so that went home with us. Wished we weren't so full so we could try the desserts but we will next time. Highly suggest everyone check this place out!

Mugsy's came around and gave my daughter a shirt! She was so excited!!! He is a very nice man.

The logos once proudly announced the owner's name and services. Essential then, now ancient. Sad. We imagined what the town was like, when oil was life in Oklahoma. The buildings then housed businesses that employed many, put food on the table and provided opportunities for several generations. Yale, a living ghost town now. The massive building has a Spanish architectural hint and colors that suggests, Mexican food can be found here. It is now Chava's. It covers almost a city block. This place probably rocked in the old days. The parking lot being full of oilfield worker's trucks at noon during the week and family cars on the weekend. Now well worn, the neglected exterior matches the town; weeds, the structures only landscaping. Today, the entire declining population of Yale could probably fit in the building. The parking lot was vacant when we arrived. The restaurant survives, thanks to dedicated locals and with the help of hungry sports fans headed to Stillwater for the Saturday game. Currently its ranking as the "Best Mexican Food in Yale" is unchallenged. The food is served on hot plates, properly prepared and good portions. The service is friendly and the restaurant is relatively clean, but noticeably warn. We ordered one of the combination plates, a relleno and a beef enchilada. On their own both were good; but the red sauce on the meal didn't work. Closer in taste to marinara spaghetti sauce than anything Mexican. The salsa served with the chips was similar in taste. Very mild, oregano flavor prominent. When we ordered, the young man offered three options: white queso, yellow queso or red sauce. We asked about the red sauce. He described it as "like chili. Nope, it is more like spaghetti sauce. The beans and rice were good. Underneath the sauce, was a nice big, fresh poblano, filled with cheese, battered and fried, accompanied with a mildly seasoned, beef filled enchilada. My recommendation, order queso on anything that comes with a sauce. It will be very mild, but better than the spaghetti sauce. If you are a person that finds a Tic Tac to be a little too spicy; you'll love the mild salsa.

Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Jessica who so graciously welcomed me despite my showing up close to closing time. I got to sit upstairs on a quiet night and have most of the place to myself, including the AMAZING salad bar that had more premium ingredients than I ever expected. I ordered the 10oz prime rib which was definitely larger than I expected as well. So tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. I have seen other reviews complaining about the price, but for $43 (which includes that massive salad bar and a fantastic baked potato) you get every bit of your money's worth. I ate leftovers throughout the next day. This was a wonderful experience for me as an out of towner - I really think everyone here takes pride in what they do and what they serve.
