After reading bas reviews from a couple of idiots who tried to come in and bully the staff and were shown the door, my wife and I decided it was time for a road trip to Bristow, OK. We have eaten there in the past with good results and figured we definitely needed a burger, onion rings and a hand made shake. Our trip down Route 66 was as pleasurable as always and when we arrived at Anchor 66 the parking lot was full. Luckily one table was leaving just as we walked in so we got an immediate seat but here were also stools available at the counter which would have been perfectly fine with us. My wife ordered the Grandma Retha burger and I ordered the Sooner burger. We shared an order of onion rings and we each ordered a milkshake. Everything was great. The burgers were hot and juicy the onion rings were cooked perfectly and were very tasty. The shakes were definitely the best we have had on some time. We will definitely be returning to Anchor 66 soon for a other dose of goodness. The staff were very friendly and accommodating for us. It was a pleasurable dinner tonight. It was a little place on the side of the road that looked pretty simple on the outside. But, when you go inside, it's a pretty cool diner from years gone by. We came in for lunch as a group of six, traveling through town, where we could sit at two booths, or at the soda bar across from the grill. The server met us with menus we could use inside or outside on a being developed patio. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and burgers from the menu, not knowing what to expect. One thing I was sure about was that if this diner didn't have something special, it would have never survived as long as it has. The appetizers- (pictured) corn ribs & fried mushrooms were good and served to order. The hamburgers and fries were fresh, warm, and well-prepared. First, the food is great. They focus on Oklahoma-sourced ingredients. The owner is a trained chef, so you can get better-than-average burgers and a rotating seasonal menu. I prefer the beer-battered chicken tender basket. The chicken tenders are huge. My only food complaint is the fries. They are a little heavy handed on the seasonings. The restaurant is small, with four booths and a bar counter with seating. It's very cozy and clean. Our server was very rude, unfortunately, the last time we came in. The other owner thankfully handled it with grace, and we will continue to frequent Anchor 66 due to her response. read more

I absolutely loved this spot. I found myself in Tulsa and decided to drive down to my dad's hometown and stumbled across Anchor 66. My dad spent a third of his life in the Air Force so it felt kismet. I have an anaphylactic allergy to turmeric and it's in so many foods, including their seasoning. The server and cook were so amazing, they cleaned their grill and made my order without using their seasoning. They went over and above! I can't wait to come back to Oklahoma and spend some more time here. read more

Here is one of those outstanding options. A fine little roadside burger joint that has a well-established, justified reputation for putting out memorable burgers, fries and rings. Meals that the burger aficionados talk about on Facebook. A mandatory start to your meal is the corn ribs. A corn on the cob, cut in quarters long ways, grilled, seasoned with something called Payne County Rust, and finished with a sprinkle of queso fresco. Oklahoma Elote on the bone, if you will. Butter it up with a little of the cilantro lime aioli. Very tasty and rich. If you decide to eat the cob (not recommended), chew it up thoroughly or you will be in for a rough ride tomorrow. Anchor 66 has a variety of burger variations. I like to keep my burgers simple and in their natural state. Grandma Retha is the one. A big smashed beef patty with cheese, finished properly with LTPO+M, no mayo, no ketchup. It comes with a big side of fresh seasoned fries. Look at the picture. Everything in that 5-star burger basket has flavor. Ice cream for dessert! How about a root beer float. The veteran, family-owned business restaurant operates in pretty tight quarters. Nine bar stools and four booths. Gas station and oil field motif. Pump tops, license plates and oilfield signs on the ceiling and walls. Great service today provided by Emily. And another plus. For price you pay for a burger, it was very disappointing. Burger was small, dry. Nothing compared to the original Anchor burger.

We stopped in today for a burger. We got the Retha Burger and the Bruncher Burger. And Onion Rings. The Bruncher was excellent. Messy, but really good and unique. I just feel like these guys care and really have a creative menu. If you are looking for country cooking, this is not your place. But if you are looking for a funky creative menu that is created with LOVE, then try this place. read more

We can't get enough of Anchor 66. We make a trip almost every weekend. Our favorite thing about them is they are open on Sunday! The food is ALWAYS top notch. Classic Rt 66 stop. I'm not a big burger person, and I was there mid-afternoon, so I just had a chocolate malted. It was a good-quality malted! Flavor was basically perfect, with an optimal blend of chocolate and malt. However, the blending left a few weird frozen chunks in there, which wasn't ideal. read more

We have been to this restaurant before when we were in the Bristow area, but apparently it has changed names and ownership. We found it to have the same friendly service and consistently good food. The interior of the restaurant seems to have been updated with fresh barstools. We started with the fried mushrooms which were huge, maybe a little too big in my opinion. But they were pretty good dipped in the ranch. My husband and I each got one of the burger options, and we both enjoyed our meals. I love onions rings, and they have good ones here at Anchor 66. I'm sure this is a local favorite, but they treat visitors like family too. We will go back next time we are in the neighborhood. read more

Another great lunch yesterday at Anchor 66. If you're on Route 66 in the Bristow, OK it's a must do. The owners support so many local businesses like Griffin's, Rust seasonings, Thorn sauce, Bishop Bros. tabouli, and Iron Monk beers like Stilly Wheat just to name a few. Ok, were back for some good food. Today I had beer batter fried fish and shrimp. It was ok... pretty plain, probably won't oder it again. It was fried a bit too dark for me, but I tried it. My dad got the Independence Day Special and it was AWESOME. It was poor man's burnt ends (not sure what that means) but they were the bomb. Like chunks of meat with a KILLER sauce. The sauce was kinda smokey but sweet also. I LOVED IT. The also come with fries and corn ribs. I didn't try those, but the meat was fantastic. I begged the cook to offer more meat with that sauce on it. I wold eat liver if it had that sauce on it ... :) I just like this little place.
