Anchor 66. A true burger dive.... If you are traveling Historic Route 66, the stretch between Bristow and Chandler Oklahoma, you have a weeks' worth of meal options to choose from. Here is one of those outstanding options. A fine little roadside burger joint that has a well-established, justified reputation for putting out memorable burgers, fries and rings. Meals that the burger aficionados talk about on Facebook. A mandatory start to your meal is the corn ribs. A corn on the cob, cut in quarters long ways, grilled, seasoned with something called Payne County Rust, and finished with a sprinkle of queso fresco. Oklahoma Elote on the bone, if you will. Butter it up with a little of the cilantro lime aioli. Very tasty and rich. If you decide to eat the cob (not recommended), chew it up thoroughly or you will be in for a rough ride tomorrow. Anchor 66 has a variety of burger variations. I like to keep my burgers simple and in their natural state. Grandma Retha is the one. A big smashed beef patty with cheese, finished properly with LTPO+M, no mayo, no ketchup. It comes with a big side of fresh seasoned fries. Look at the picture. Everything in that 5-star burger basket has flavor. Ice cream for dessert! How about a root beer float. The veteran, family-owned business restaurant operates in pretty tight quarters. Nine bar stools and four booths. Gas station and oil field motif. Pump tops, license plates and oilfield signs on the ceiling and walls. Great service today provided by Emily. And another plus. A two beers per customer limit, helps to prevent drunken fist fights in the limited space of the restaurant. Check the hours before you go. But, do go!

We stopped in today for a burger. We got the Retha Burger and the Bruncher Burger. And Onion Rings. The Bruncher was excellent. Messy, but really good and unique. I just feel like these guys care and really have a creative menu. If you are looking for country cooking, this is not your place. But if you are looking for a funky creative menu that is created with LOVE, then try this place.

Driving back to OKC we tried this place off the turnpike. It's a small clean place & we enjoyed our food. Service was great! I liked the corn ribs. It has indoor & outdoor seating.

I got their cowboy burger and granny burger. It's was a great burger and the fries are good too. I wasn't so much a fan of the ambiance. But the service was good.

We have been to this restaurant before when we were in the Bristow area, but apparently it has changed names and ownership. We found it to have the same friendly service and consistently good food. The interior of the restaurant seems to have been updated with fresh barstools. We started with the fried mushrooms which were huge, maybe a little too big in my opinion. But they were pretty good dipped in the ranch. My husband and I each got one of the burger options, and we both enjoyed our meals. I love onions rings, and they have good ones here at Anchor 66. I'm sure this is a local favorite, but they treat visitors like family too. We will go back next time we are in the neighborhood.

That is my favorite The Oklahoma twister is also awesome but this one is a shoot. I can't remember grandma Rea I know that's not right

The food was well cooked and lot's of flavor. I had the Jäegershnizel and my wife had the chicken…read moresalad. Both were very good. The schnitzel was breaded well and very juicy. The mushroom gravy had good flavor and texture. The chicken salad had a good variety of greens, not just one type of lettuce. A good portion of shredded chicken on top. This was a very large salad. There was enough for two people to share. Portion could have been better. Service was great. Attentive without being pushy. A fun place to eat. Lots of memorabilia from the movie Cars, which took inspiration from this restaurant. Definitely big on Route 66, too, as evidenced by the adjacent gift shop.

The Spaetzle (often called the German version of macaroni and cheese) restored my faith in…read morehumanity. The texture experience excels. The Chili Cheese Dog with fresh, raw onions (as foretold by the cheesy appetizer) was dense and flavorful, maybe the best no-frills chili dog in Oklahoma. My picky 13yo ate his first First Fried Apple pie with a slice of vanilla. His eyes got really big, and the plate was clean in an instant. The big treat, though, is the full-quarter slice of Poor Man"s "Pecan" Pie made with oats, not pecans. Served hot with a perfect slice of vanilla ice cream (yes, it's a tray-cut square) with a perfect crust -- This may be my favorite dessert ever, in the whole wide world. Of course the whole wide world needs more innovative classic food stops like this on Route 66. Also, ask to see their fire-surviving copy of Eternal Route 66 by Chuck Williams, an ironic souvenir from a prior iteration of The *eternal* Rock Cafe. If you're a fan of Sally the blue Porsche from the Disney Pixar movie Cars, ask to meet the owner, Dawn. She *might* tell you her story that inspired the sweetheart sports car, and John Lasseter, Pixar's chief creative officer is happy to confirm when visiting with memorabilia gifts that decorate the cafe.
