Rather than telling the person handling the phone order that the croissants were already ordered, the cashier just apologetically smiled. What's weird is that the person handling the phone order was making drinks before and after so I'm not sure if this was an order for a friend or a legitimate customer. The whole thing was disappointing and soured our opinion and experience. Seven employees were working and it still took over 10 mins to get two lattes. When served, our drinks were not hot because the espresso shots had been sitting on the counter cooling off while the milk was steamed and the flavoring added. The interstellar had good flavor but was kid's temp by the time I got it. The honey saffron didn't taste like anything and was slightly warmer, but fell flat flavorwise. Overall, the experience didn't feel particularly high end as the prices would reflect, nor efficient. I'm not sure if I would return.

The staff was pleasant, and one of the employees was kind enough to take a picture for me when I asked, which I appreciated. The only thing that stood out to me was that there wasn't much of a greeting or acknowledgment when I walked in, but it wasn't a huge issue. The seating was okay. The chair I chose wasn't the most comfortable for an extended stay, but it got the job done. There was also some rock music playing during my visit, which helped create a casual atmosphere. I didn't order any coffee or food this time around, so I can't speak to the menu yet. This visit was more about finding a place to work and unwind for a bit. Would I come back? Yes. While I'm still searching for my go-to coffee lounge in Syracuse, Recess is definitely a spot I'd visit again.
