I was surprised to see this business in this small town. I hope they can generate enough business to maintain during the slow months. I was not here to throw any axes but to eat breakfast. I love having breakfast at local establishments when I'm traveling. I was very excited when I saw the ax throwing was also a restaurant. I was even more excited to know there wasn't any ax throwing during my dining hours. lol. The food was very good. They had a limited menu but it covered all the bases. The server was nice and friendly. The restaurant was not busy when I was there but it did take forever for my food to arrive. I was actually getting concerned they had forgotten about me. When the food did arrive it was yummy. I ordered a breakfast platter and it did not disappoint. There is plenty of room in this restaurant. It is very spacious and easy accessible. The seating area is one big room so there are no separate dining areas. You can see the ax throwing area from the eating area. The prices seemed reasonable breakfast at a small restaurant in a small town. Prices were right in line. Highly recommended dining establishment. One note of caveat... I think in the off season they do not have regular dining hours. Would check before heading over.

But I really want to compliment our waitress Justine, she worked so hard to keep all of her tables happy, was scooping ice cream, filling drinks, and she was so nice! And the coffee is also roasted locally. So yeah, this was a pretty neat stop in very rural Missouri as we're headed across on US-60 from the one side to the next. After seated, we took a look at the menu. Options for both of us were easy. Mrs. K. is a connoisseur of French Toast. As she doesn't eat meat, this is her usual "go to" for breakfast so that was her easy choice at The Ranch House this morning. Me, I'm on keto so I was able to have their three-egg omelet with all the veggies plus added steak sausage. Coffee arrived first and it was excellent. Just a simple drop, it was rich and hot and perfection. A little bit later, breakfast arrived. I very much enjoyed the omelet as it was tasty. I could really taste the eggs in here today. Yum! Mrs. K. said "This is the best French Toast that I have ever had" and that's really saying something as she's enjoyed dozens if not a couple hundred portions across my Yelp career. Wow. Breakfast was around $40 with tip. And afterward, we wandered around the small town of Van Buren for a bit. A truly lovely stop. [Review 669 of 2026 - 523 in Missouri - 25850 overall]

Beef bacon was a little disappointing (way overcooked) and the biscuits and gravy didn't seem particularly 'homemade.' The coffee however was GREAT! There was also a gift shop so it made it a nice decor. Overall a pretty good experience.

I got the club and it was one of my favs off their menu so far. It was toasted and the cheese was perfectly melted-REALLY GOOD!! I just wish they had Diet Dr Pepper or Coke Zero but oh well I guess I shouldn't drink sodas anyways so not too big of a deal. The place is great inside, super clean and modern farmhouse vibes going on in here with home-made desserts that I have never tried.

The place is nice and modern looking/loud with the noise traveling all over like a noisy bar. The menu is good with something for everyone and we had a burger and country fried steak and I can only review the country fried steak. The service was that southern US slow but ok. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The country fried steak was bigger than the average and hot from the fryer with a nice crispy crust. The steamed broccoli was slightly better than room temperature with a little crunch left in it and not total mush. The mashed potatoes were cold straight from the fridge for some reason like leftovers. My plate had chips on them that I would have thrown away in my kitchen. The water cup was a cheap plastic cup with a heavy a chlorinated taste in the water and not drinkable. Overall my lunch was disappointing for a restaurant with such a high number of reviews which I feel is fake compared to other restaurants in town.
