Relaxed and quite at the bar with a couple of games playing on TV's above the bar. The new drink menu looked enticing and the Maple Reserve was a winner. The Redline neither of us really cared for. The Tilefish on the specials menu was phenomenal. Light with a delicious sauce. Wife had the French Dip which is very consistently good. We took the Strawberry Shortcake Tiramisu to go and it was also very good. Hope it stays on the menu.

We started with the brussels sprouts and the salmon bites. The sprouts are your standard balsamic glazed brussels sprouts but the serving size was great! The salmon bites were probably the most underwhelming item we tried, just fine, probably would have been much better if they were cooked a little more or possibly had a different sauce, unsure but they were still good overall. The drinks we tried, millionaire something and the redline were cool twists on classic cocktails but really just ok. For brunch we got the beet salad with steak and the salmon BLT. The Salmon on the BLT was just perfect, crispy and tender at the same time; I think if the bites were cooked the same I would have enjoyed them much more. THE BEET SALAD THOUGH, it was incredible. Now I love a beet salad, but so many are so underwhelming or downright bad, this was NOT the case. It may have been the best beet salad I've had in years. Steak was cooked well but really the beets and the salad were just so well done. The greens and toppings were just all great, I can't speak highly enough of this salad. I would probably get some extra dressing on the side next time but top notch. If you like a beet salad at all you have to order this one for sure.

Depending on the season and day of week, Shakespeare's offers brunch, lunch, and dinner. My husband and I ate one dinner here. We felt impressed by the 600 million pounds of boulders outside and the fun medieval-like architecture and interior design of the building (e.g., large doors, vaulted ceiling, oak panels, Spanish swords and shields, and tapestries). The seating hostess and the waitress served us promptly and politely. The dinner menu listed appetizers (e.g., poutine, pretzels, and wings), salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, chicken, steaks, veal, salmon, tuna, cod, crab cakes, pastas, vegetable sides, and some desserts. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Pierogi Flatbread - 4 stars - This flatbread had a wonderful crust, and it was topped with mashed potatoes, onions, and cheddar cheese. French-onion Soup Crock - 5 stars - My husband ate this soup. It had a nicely rich broth and onions and gooey cheese on top. Stuffed Shrimp - 3 stars - I ate this entree from the "moat," and I thought that it tasted just OK. Five large shrimp were stuffed with crab meat and lay on top of polenta. My side was a very fresh house salad. Queen's Prime Rib - 5 stars - My husband ate this entree from the "stockyard." A 10-ounce prime rib was cooked perfectly. My husband described it as "very tender" and "very good." He chose a buttery baked potato for his side. Apple Tart - 5 stars - We shared this dessert of a warm apple tart topped with vanilla ice cream. We enjoyed its sweet flavors. The total price for these five foods plus one soda was $95 *plus* tax, credit-card fee, and tip. My husband enjoyed this meal so much that he recommended that we return sometime to eat brunch.

An Ellwood City favorite, @red.hot.restaurant has been a staple in this town for FIFTY SIXyears!…read moreThe owner, John, has been (and still does) slinging hotdogs, hamburgers and the best fries I've ever had since Nixon was president. When you walk in, you are greeted by one of John's family. According to Nicki, John's daughter, "there are lots of us!"you know that they are a family, because they treat you like family. With old pictures on the wall of special memories and even one of John with Steve Harvey! You can tell that there is love in what they make here. They are gearing towards all farm to table, featuring all of their fresh meats by @meatguyzpa, and you can tell the difference in everything we tried. I loved everything I ate here. Somehow their chili sauce sticks to the fries, and the cheese turns to cheesy goodness in front of you and makes a beautiful dish. The small portion was the size of my head! Their dogs are snappy, burgers have tons of toppings (I'm totally making a chili cheese burger the next time I go) and their chicken cutlet sandwich is off the charts! We also got their new gyros to go; and they were great even 15 minutes later when we got home. Loaded with meat and fillings, you can feel Greek heritage in this one. Happy Eating!

I wouldn't say it was hot though. The burger I ordered was thin which for the price makes sense. I actually like thin burgers so it didn't bother me in the least. We also ordered chili and cheese fries (we did work out prior to dinner hoping to balance!). The cheese was velveta slices and the fries are on the thicker side so I prefer New Brighton Hot Dog Shoppes chili and cheese fries. They are cash only so be prepared to visit the cash machine near by.
