The McGarrys are my go-to for appliance repair. But you have to understand that they're not Geek Squad. In my book, that's great, but that means you have to work with their limited desk hours and their very human schedule Pros: small family business serving local customers; friendly, honest, down-to-earth service; reasonable prices Cons: since it's a small family business, you can't expect the convenience of receptionists, immediate, ultra-reliable call-backs, and all-hours service Treat them like your neighbors, because that's who they are. read more

Bill (service tech) is wonderful, knowledgeable, prompt and efficient. Getting a call back from Will is next to impossible! I've used them 2x (both for 2 different dishwasher repairs). parts had to be ordered for the 1st repair. I called multiple times to get an update as to when the part would be in and when it would be installed. When Bill came out to install part, I explained what a terrible experience it was trying to get a call back. He apologized over & over. He took $30 off of my service call and asked that I please give them another chance in the future. I did give them another chance in my next residence. i have a warranty with my home. all I needed was for someone to call the warranty company and explain the problem. the warranty co called, I called (multiple times again). My claim was finally rejected due to no response. I would have gotten my new dishwasher paid for had they just made that call!. I'm out ~$500 for a new dishwasher. Not happy and I will tell everyone I know this same story! read more

If you ever get ahold of them, they are very nice. They came out and said dishwasher needed a part. Like all the other reviews, if they leave without fixing(part needed), they will *NEVER* be heard from again. I spent *4 WEEKS* leaving messages trying to get a hold of them. The father/son team are great. They know how to fix any appliance and understand when it's going to be cost prohibitive and when it's worth the money to fix an item. We had an old used dryer and they explained that it was well constructed, without computer cards to go bad, said it had many more years before it should go to the recycling. They fixed the belt and it was like new. They are honest and reasonable priced. read more

While the McGarrys or lovely when you reach them, unfortunately, we had a really poor experience. They came to the house and diagnosed our washer problem and said the part would be in in 2 weeks. We then spent nearly 6 weeks trying to get a hold of them to no avail. No call backs, no response, nothing. This was so unprofessional and disappointing. If they can't complete a job, it's easy enough to just inform a customer that they are unable to. DO NOT USE. read more

The service tech was polite and called prior to arrival as requested. He looked at our freezer and said he believed he knew what was wrong but would need to order a part. He stated that the part should come in on Friday 7/26 and he would come back to complete the repair that day. The tech was a no call no show. I waited a few days to call their office to see what the status was. On 7/30 I called and left a message asking for someone to return my call to let me know when I could expect my repair to be completOn 8/1 I called again but no answer. I left another message. As of 8/5 I still have not heard a word. I read reviews hoping our experience would be different since I was referred from a family friend. read more

We could not have had a better experience with McGarry Appliance. They installed all new appliances in our house and took care of them as if they were the homeowners. They even hauled away the trash. I would HIGHLY recommend this company. read more

He came over finally and put in a "new pump", at least that's what he said. I tried the washer after he left it didn't work and I had the same problem it had before I called him. I should've made sure he ran it before you left, but I did When I called him the next day, it was right when the Covid-29 lockdown was occurring. He apologized and promised that he would make it better. I told him I would get back to him when things began to loosen up. I tried. Multiple times. No return phone call. My wife, a retired business law professor, sent him a letter with a copy of the $170 check we had paid him and asked him to get in touch with us. He never did. We finally just gave up and got a new washer from Best Buy. Hire him at your peril. read more

The technician came out to fix our dishwasher and was very nice and professional. Fixed a seal but did not install it correctly, so our dishwasher leaked even more. Called for them to come back out, they did, and could not identify the issue. Dishwasher started to leak worse and worse. Called repetitively and left voicemails and no one ever answered the phone or returned my call. Terrible customer service, I would highly recommend staying far away from this company. Called another company, and they told me the seal wasn't installed properly and fixed it within 10 minutes and answered my calls on the first try. Do not go with this company for your appliance repair needs. read more

I had a completely different experience than two years ago. The younger Mr. Garry dispatched the elder Mr. McGarry, who's been doing this for over 40 years, on the same day as my call (indeed, within a couple of hours), he diagnosed the problem, they got the needed part ordered for my dishwasher, and he was back the next afternoon to install it and finish the job. The cost-benefit analysis of getting an appliance fixed versus replacing it has changed so much in recent years, it seems a lot of "Mom & Pop" fix it shops have gone out of business-- I'm guessing it's pretty hard to compete with a replacement unit built on unfair wages overseas. So, this shop is small and busy, and you might have to call a few times. I suspect the guys doing the work are also fielding the calls. But every time I've used them, the repairman has been very knowledgeable and friendly, got the job done quickly and priced it fairly. They are as honest as the day is long, in my experience. read more

This is the second time we've requested appliance service through McGarry Appliance. The office was able to set an appointment for the next day. The service technician arrived on time and immediately went to work troubleshooting the dishwasher. Parts needed to be ordered and a follow up scheduled when the parts arrive, hopefully within the week. with payment once repairs are completed. Fair prices, friendly and courteous service. We will use McGarry's appliance for all of our appliances. read more

I have used their service for many years. They always did a great job and were very friendly. I was so pleased with them that I recommended them to many of my friends. But, the last three times that I have called them, they never called me back. I have not heard from them at all, despite making many phone calls. I suppose they could be out of business. I do not recommend using them anymore, since they cannot seem to call people back. read more

I called on a Monday and received a call on Tuesday. He came out Tuesday afternoon to look at Washer and stated it would need a new liner. He would order the part and stated it should be in within 2 days. Two days past and did not hear anything, so I called and left a message. No response (call back). Called 3 more times over a period of a week and still no response. Observation: they never answer their phone and based on other reviews they do not follow-up on issues, ordering parts, and people need to keep calling them back at least 10X may be more for them to respond. Very poor service. He looked at our oven and determined it needed a new igniter. He said he'd have to order it, and he'd be back in a couple of days. A week goes by, we try to reach the businesss by phone. Another week passes. Still not able to reach them by phone or any other way. Finally gave up and found a different company. Came on the spot and diagnosed my washer. Said they would order a part and he would be calling me that afternoon with price and to reschedule fixing. Now more than a week later and numerous vm's left, nada. So irritated and have lost a week with no washer and no one to repair. Do NOT recommend. It is true that this father-son operation is capable of doing excellent work, and I have had several good experiences with them. Unfortunately their service and response record is spotty, at best. It seems that they are terrific, as long as they aren't too busy, or don't have something better going on. Communication seems to be a particular problem. Phone calls go unreturned and appointments are broken, usually without notice. That doesn't work for me, as I manage a number of rental units where the tenants demand, and deserve, timely service. I was particularly disappointed by McGarry when I recommended them to some friends who needed appliance serviced. This was when I thought their lack of responsiveness was a fluke, not a pattern, and I still really liked the work they had done for me. Nothing worse than hearing back from friends that they were blown-off when they called for repairs. Soooo...McGarry's can do excellent work, it's true. But my experience with them over the past ten years has been spotty on their reliability and responsiveness...even though I feel like I've given them plenty of "second chances". If you call them up, be prepared to be patient. read more

Set an appt and the tech showed up on time and was nice. He revealed a part would need to be ordered and it would be the next week to come back. Now 3 weeks later and numerous phone calls/messages, nothing. Their recording is outdated so wonder if something amiss, they don't want to do the work or they closed down. Pretty sad. read more

Please do NOT trust this company with your business unless you enjoy receiving zero response to multiple phone calls and e-mails for additional information that should have been provided from the beginning. He said he would be here between two and three on Friday. I took the afternoon off work and he was a no call no show. I called three or four times and got a an out dated recording. 72 hours later still no call. In this day and age of cell phones there is really absolutely no excuse to leave somebody sitting at home waiting. Not to mention the money it cost me to take a day off work! read more

I had excellent, on-time service on my gas range today. And they also did some work for me a few years ago (I can't remember for what). The cost for a service call was reasonable compared to some others I have used in town. I expect their ability to come promptly is in relation to how busy they already are when you call, but my appointment was kept on time and the work was done efficiently and politely. This is an example of a truly exceptional local business. We have used this company twice, once for a refrigerator repair and once for a washing machine repair.
