I accidentally went to Quest Lab instead which is on the same block. The person there said I needed to go to Labcorp So I immediately went there but unfortunately I was 15 mins late & when I explained the mistake she abruptly said we cancelled your appointment. I said even it was only 15 mins but she was rude & nasty!! I asked can you tell me what the wait time would be & she said NO & I said can you give me an approximate time & she said NO! This is not service it's like she was looking to degrade someone!! It obvious that she was racist to white women!!

(1071 Care Way Ste…read more201, Fredericksburg, VA 22401) Today, I had a pre-employment urine drug screening appointment scheduled for 3:20 PM. I arrived on time, went directly to the electronic kiosk, and checked in before 3:30 PM. There is a large sign above the KIOSKS ONLY instructing patients to "Check In Here," so I followed those directions exactly. The African-American receptionist with a white lab coat, ASHLEY, saw me arrive but was busy helping another patient, so after checking in electronically, I sat down and waited to be called. The patient who finished checking in after me was even called by the specimen collector to the back before I was, even though I had finished checking in first. Even after that, not once was I even acknowledged by ASHLEY, the receptionist. Nor is there any sign or indication to check in with her as well. About 10 minutes later, the specimen collector called me to the front and informed me that they would not be able to see me because urine collections stop at 3:30 PM. I explained that I had arrived on time and had already checked in before the cutoff, so it wasn't my fault that no one called me sooner. The receptionist, Ashley, then told me that because I checked in at the kiosk and didn't ALSO come to her desk, she didn't know I was there for a urine collection. As mentioned, there is no sign or instruction telling patients they must check in with the receptionist after using the kiosk, not only that but ASHLEY could've let me know or asked me what I was there for after seeing my sit down in front of her for 10 minutes. If that is the office's policy, it should be clearly communicated instead of expecting patients to guess. To make matters worse, Ashley said she had already closed the electronic system and will not be reopening it, and that there was nothing they could do for me except have me come back another day. I had already taken time off work specifically for this appointment, not to mention there is a 72 hour deadline after the order was placed for my urine screening, and the office clearly saw that I had a scheduled appointment at 3:20 PM. This entire situation was the result of poor communication from the receptionist and an inefficient check-in process--not anything I did wrong. Patients should not be penalized or inconvenienced, risking their employment and taking time off from work, for following the instructions that LabCorp provides or lack of communicative receptionists. I hope management, apparently named Joey, addresses this issue so other patients don't waste their time the way I did.

My 7-year-old daughter, who has Level 3 autism, underwent blood and urine testing, and we were waiting for the results. A nurse named Erin entered the room speaking in a loud tone and smiling. She then told us that our daughter was diabetic, had Type 1 diabetes, and needed to go to the hospital. Because my daughter is only seven years old and has Level 3 autism, it was especially important for this information to be communicated calmly, clearly, and sensitively. As her parents, we also needed the news to be explained with compassion and care, particularly because she does not fully understand what was happening. We were hearing life-changing news about our child for the first time. The possibility of a Type 1 diabetes diagnosis was frightening and devastating. Yet Erin delivered the news loudly and with a smile, without any apparent recognition of the seriousness of the situation or consideration of my daughter's needs. I understand that medical professionals must communicate clearly and that Erin needed to direct us to the hospital. My concern is not that she provided this information or recommended immediate hospital care. My concern is the lack of compassion, empathy, and sensitivity in the way she delivered such serious news. There was no calm explanation, reassurance, or acknowledgment of how terrified we were as parents or how frightening the situation could be for our child, especially given her autism and young age. Erin's manner felt cold, careless, and inappropriate under the circumstances. The experience affected me so severely that I had a panic attack and required medical attention at the hospital myself. Healthcare professionals may deliver serious diagnoses regularly, but parents do not receive news like this every day. For our family, this was one of the most frightening moments of our lives. When informing parents that their young child may have a lifelong medical condition and needs immediate hospital care, compassion, sensitivity, and professionalism are essential--especially when the child has additional needs and may not understand what is happening. After this visit, I will not return to Patient First. This was the worst healthcare experience of my life, and I personally would not want to be treated by Erin again. I believe people should be aware of how this situation was handled. The only reason I continued going to Patient First was because of Dr. Rod Johnson, who is an excellent doctor, and Laura, who has also been wonderful. I sincerely appreciate both of them and the care they have provided. I hope Patient First takes this complaint seriously and provides additional training on communicating serious medical information with empathy, sensitivity, and professionalism. That training should include how to support autistic children and their families during frightening and potentially life-changing medical situations.

*** This review is one star for the telephone system, not the doctors ***…read more I'm a regular patient here for many years. The telephone service system does this to you if you call near lunchtime: 1. It accepts your call and puts you in queue and tells you're customer number five or whatever. Then you're on hold (in my case today, for twenty minutes) with the same constant repeating message that they'll be right with you and that you're such an important patient. Then, after 20 minutes, it goes dead. 2. You call back after 12 PM, only to get a recording saying that they're closed for lunch and to call back after 1 PM. 3. In my opinion, that is not customer-oriented. People have important reasons to be calling a doctor's office. The whole front desk does not need to close down for an hour to eat lunch. Front Desk people can stagger lunches so that someone is always available to take a call. Person A takes lunch from 11:30 to 12:30. Person B covers phone from 12 PM to 12:30 and then takes lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 and Person A covers phone from 12:30 PM to 1 PM. Easy as that. Why have both of them go to lunch at the same time? 4. The telephone system should tell people that they are not continuing to hold as it's now 12 PM and the office is at lunch if they are going to continue this inane practice. 5. Although the doctors here are very good - nothing against them -- I will not be recommending this practice for its outdated and inept telephone system.
