We tow the truck to Platinum and they fix the truck- they will not release the truck until they are paid. Progressive released the $9,000 dollar payment and we pick up the truck. We drive the truck and quickly realize there are things wrong with it. We take it back. They agree it needs an alignment. We think they did the alignment. We go and pick it up again and my husband wants to drive it with the manager. They tell us they don't do mechanical/engine work. THEY TELL US THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME! We have to take it someone where else?????? THEY NEVER TOLD US THE TRUCK HAD MORE ISSUES AND WOULD REQUIRE MORE WORK! Our family of four with young children were riding around in this truck! We take it to the dealership where they tell us it needs $4,000 dollars more worth or work and PROGRESSIVE IS REFUSING TO PAY and states it's not from the accident. LYING! This company just wanted the pay out! AWFUL! And put my family in DANGER! They also left the truck outside on very cold days and we pick it up and the tires are flat and they did not do the alignment! STAY AWAY! ANYTHING FOR A BUCK!!!

They are always honest with their work and always have great prices. There is no questioning are they being honest with you about what needs to be done. To me that is always a great thing!! I dropped my truck off today to have new tires put on. They called to inform me they found another issue. They gave a quote, fixed the problem and had me back in my truck in no time. If you went to another shop to have tires put on, they wouldn't bother looking at the whole front end. They just put the tires on and send you on your way. That is not the case with Don Hansen's. They looked over the whole front end to make sure everything was solid. For me that is always reassuring. You don't get that at other shops. And if you do it comes with a big price tag. They care about their customers and always go one step further to make sure that you are always safe on the road. You get the feeling that you are family when they are working on you vehicle. I had the car inspected by an independent mechanic, who confirmed the transmission had failed. Because the vehicle was sold as-is, I ended up paying for the repair myself. My biggest disappointment wasn't the mechanical failure--it was the dealership's lack of communication afterward. I reached out multiple times by phone and email to discuss the situation and ask for guidance, but my calls and emails went unanswered. I wasn't necessarily expecting the dealership to cover the repair, but I did expect someone to return my calls, acknowledge the issue, and at least discuss possible options. Customer service shouldn't end once the sale is complete. Based on my experience, I can't recommend Mazda of Crystal Lake due to the lack of follow-up and communication after a serious issue arose.

They did not mention this issue. I paid for the repairs, expecting I could park this thing like a normal person would and the key would come out of the ignition, like it always did before I took it to the shop. That was not the end result that I got. I'm giving them two stars because the vehicle is usable, but now has this quirky way of having to put it into park. That doesn't seem like a satisfactory fix for a car repair shop, but that's just my opinion. They told me after the fact that it's a shifter lever problem causing this, and that would be a really expensive fix, but I wasn't told about this specific piece until I took it back after they "fixed" it. I expected the vehicle to work the way it worked before the cable broke and I took it to the shop. That's what fixing means, but instead while it now will shift, it now has a new issue that it didn't have before. They even acknowledged that one of them repairmen in there could never put it in park the right way that it would release the key. They spend all day messing with it yesterday, just to land on "let's show him the special way to get it in park." Unimpressed to say the least. My opinions on pricing could be off base, but I will share the receipt and let you make judgments for yourself.

Brought my pistons and rods in because the pin clearance was too tight, when I picked them up and…read moregot to installing them I realized that some of the cir-clips weren't seated so I had to pull the pistons I installed back out to check them . Anyway overlooked that and brought my cylinder heads in for decking and valve job, $1,200 was fine, I asked Tom how much would it cost to install the cams and check follower clearances, he told me "couple hundred bucks" I dropped the cams, followers and caps off, carefully installed them into their original spots to make sure everything was correct, when I went back to pick up the heads "couple hundred bucks" turned into $800, the cams needed polishing so I said whatever and I paid the money. Went back home and a few days later I installed the heads, something told me to check the clearances just to make sure, this is a performance motor and I put a whole lotta money into it. I first realized that none of the cap bolts were torqued, they were a little more than hand tight, almost every valve on the cylinder heads were out of spec, couple thousandths too tight on the exhaust cams, couple thousandths too loose on the intake cams, before I did any of this I texted Tom to ask how the clearance check was done and where did they set the clearances, he never responded, I texted him several times after that with no response, called the shop several times on different days, no answer. Wow, that's beyond evil, stay far away from this place, I was planning to bring my 5.0 motor in later this summer but I'll never go anywhere near that place, whatever happened to the honest accountable guys that used to run these businesses?
