this is the 5th time they have messed up my food. i ask for ketchup only everytime and i get eveything on it. the workers here are just simply horrible at their job and they should really think about actually training them rather than just putting them in the kitchen and having them make horrible food. i will NEVER order from this place again. read more

I am a huge burger, fan, and looking at this place from the outside I was kind of excited to try them. After getting my double burger in about 45 seconds, it looks and tastes exactly like McDonald's. In fact, it's just a salty. I don't see any difference. Nothing that's good or bad it's just McDonald's 1/4 pounder. read more

As a Charleston transplant, I feel it's my duty to alert people of the hit and miss places in my new hometown. Consider this a PSA. If you have a vague inkling of what a good burger should taste like, you will avoid Mc Hugh's like the plague. While I remember not minding an experience I had at this so-called "World Famous" burger joint over ten years ago, my recent "meal" here was enough to steer me away for the rest of my life. I had just spent all day painting my house with a team of family members, and I was tired. Too tired to make food for any of them, so fast food it had to be. But instead of driving the 7ish minutes to Mattoon's time-honored Mecca that is The Original Burger King, I made the mistake of getting the closest burger I could find outside of McDonald's. Between the two evils, I shoulda gone with Mickey D's. Lesson learned the tough way. Upon first glance, I knew I was in trouble. You can tell if it's a bad burger just by looking at it, it's true. The patty was clearly a warmed-over cookie-cutter slab of unloved meat, but I just couldn't have predicted how bad it would taste. I wanted to spit it out after the first bite. I cannot honestly tell if they put beef in their hamburgers or not. There's probably a percentage of real beef in there. Maybe the intestines or something. But no. I'm fairly certain my dog wouldn't have touched this had I dropped it on the floor and kicked it away, as was my first instinct. The burger tasted processed, worse than any fast food I'd ever eaten, and as if it had been collecting dust on a shelf since the day before. I couldn't even finish it; my gag reflex was on the point of reflexing. My husband had a milkshake there that he claimed wasn't bad, so the place retains a star. If you're looking for a fast food place that's not a chain to support local small business, this is the place for you! The burgers remind me more of 5 guys and Burgerville instead of McDonalds. Great fries. Service was fast as you would expect with the double drive through as well. What more can you ask for? read more

I would have to give this place 5 stars compared to other fast food chains. If comparing to mcdonalds, this place gets 5 stars burgers are huge fresh and very good, fries were excellent too. If you need something quick and don't want the typical chain food get yourself some. I only wish there was one of these back in Wisconsin. read more

I was on my way to work and figured I'd stop by real quick and get a sandwich. The line was wrapped around the building and they were BUSY! I thought I was going to be late for work. Good burgers and Awesome fries. Their french fries are better than McDonalds and I go out of my way to get them. Good fast service through either side of their drive-thru. Price is comparable to the larger Burger chains in town. Their 'After 4pm' Special' is a great deal though. read more

Best fries in town. Burgers are better the the clown's in my opinion. McHugh 's is the only burger place in town that can seemingly get your order right and give you hot food. Just don't overload the order takers with too much information and you oughta be fine. Fairly expansive menu for a drive through establishment. Have ate at mchugh's in Mattoon off and on since it opened. When first opened the family ran it and they served good food and cared about their customer-called me by first name. Since they went away and are now using managers (using the word loosely) They don't care as long as they get paid. I order hamburgers and they sell you cheeseburgers and charge for cheeseburgers. If I want cheeseburgers I'd ask for them. Next I order chili dogs with cheese and onion and they give you a hot dogs with cheese and onion. Oh yes chili dogs are listed on their front menu at $2.89, But they charge $3.19. I ask why and the girl said that was with tax. That's 30 cents tax on $3.19. then charged tax again on the total amount. Sick of it. Mchugh's better check into these problems or they will be closing their doors. Won't be buying from them anymore. I give them 1 star because this listing won't let me rate them with less, but they deserve no stars. read more
