they were very good about staying in touch with us about buying an RV, and after that they don't return phone calls, also we overpaid on licensing ,tabs and sales tax , we li in another state,called about that and and was told how much we were going to get back , actually it's going to our loan company, which we did not know,and that refund is short another $11.50 which isn't much but I was told that the third-party tiling company is taking that out for stamps. We already paid them $250 for their services and they're taking out more ! The third-party tiling company was late on filing our title and we paid extra for that and extra for expediting the title, which we still do not have it's very didn't even get our license plates for two months we headed south for the winter with 15 day permit. I wanted to take care of my own tiling and sales tax in our state, but it wasn't permitted. If anyone to buy a motorhome I would fight for that because this is not sitting very well with us. read more

They say, it's not bad to be had, it's knowing you've been had". I wish I could say my experience with McKee R.V. was great but unfortunately it wasn't. At least not completely. I purchase a 2022 RV from them spending about 195 K. The initial deal and salesman Mike was great. They matched the deal from another dealer I was considering. Before I traveled the 600 miles to complete the deal, another salesman contacted me asking for pictures of my trade-in. They had someone already interested in it. I got there two hours early for my appointment to close the deal. I waited for over three and a half hours later and they dropped the value by $ 5000. The original quoted was at the low wholesale value of 30K. They said there was water damage (wrinkles in the wallpaper in the cab over) though no other signs of water damage were present. The wall was solid, no water stains, and the cab over is all fiberglass and no window in the area. The rig was also just out of storage where it had been covered. I know that wrinkled wallpaper in R.V.'s is not uncommon and not due to water. In fact, the unit they sold me had some wrinkles. They also wanted new tires on it, even though I told them before hand there was maybe one of two seasons left in them. However, I accepted the misunderstanding and agree to "split the difference" with them and accept a $2500 reduction in my trade. They counteroffered with $500. I had been there after a 600-mile trip way and over 3 and a half hours and was plain worn down, so I begrudgingly accepted the offer, knowing I would probably lose my $2500 deposit if I walked away (had seen this as an issue in some reviews). I even bought their warranty (which furthered their profit) Where I realized I had been had is when I got home my trade-in was listed as pending with a listed price at the high end of retail of 154K. So, I called and was told they sold it for much less. I know they probably negotiated the price down, but even if they honored their original price, they would have still got it for wholesale, with new tires. Also, there is not a similar unit for less than 140K nationally, and averaging 150K. I know they have to make a profit, but between what they made off the new rig and trade-in, how much should a customer give up. I realize I have no recourse other than to let others know, and certainly not do business with them again. I guess that extra 5K was worth losing a return customer that just spent 195K. read more

Drive away from this dealership as fast as you can. They did not do what I paid them to do, and I had to do it myself. I gave them an opportunity to make it right, (reimburse me) and the Business Manager did nothing, said he would get back to me and still nothing. They know how to sell them, and after that you're on your own. The office staff was not helpful, and not a person could fix problem that they created. They screened my calls. Customer service after the sale doesn't matter. If you make a mistake you fix it plain and simple. When you're yelp review starts out with an red banner listing a lawsuit, and a beware warning, and your yelp rating is a 1.8 and the customer gives you a chance before writing a complaint to fix it it's obvious you don't care. We bought a "NEW" DRV Mobile Suites fifth wheel from McKee RV in Perry, Iowa for $155,000 -- and during the first rainstorm after only living in it for 18 days, we discovered a serious water leak, BLACK MOLD, rot, and water damage in the master bedroom slide. (See photos). We planned to use the RV for our family to do ministry across the country. McKee RV refused to take it back or reimburse us, even after we had to live in an Airbnb. Their "solution" was to charge us another $15,583 for a trade of a Riverstone Legacy RV, even though it was priced within $1000 of the DRV! My wife and youngest son have a medical sensitivity to mold, so this unit is unsafe, even if "remediated." McKee RV hides behind the warranty instead of standing behind their sales. They had the nerve to suggest this happened during our watch by saying, "while in your possession you have now had a water issue." This problem happened during the 1-2 years it sat on their lot. Judge for yourself from the photos. When I noticed a dark water stain in the same area during the walk-thru, the salesman wrote it off as a "coffee stain." Frustrating experience. I took our RV to McKee RV after the AC stopped working. It sat for 3 weeks with no electric, updates or progress. I picked it up because we were leaving for Phoenix. When I picked it up the generator wouldn't start, so I took it back. They did get the AC fixed but estimated 4 hours of labor to tear down the generator for a diagnosis. I waited until we got to Phoenix and called U.S. Repair Force. Tony diagnosed the issue as low battery amps. In 10 minutes he had it fixed and running right. McKee RV was slow and unresponsive, while U.S. Repair Force was quick, professional and knew exactly what to do. Big difference in service. read more

OK. I'm trying to figure out where all the super low reviews are coming from. I was really worried buying from McKee based on the reviews. This was our first RV. I've been shopping around and looking for the Dynamax that I wanted. I finally found it at McKee. I sent in a request on a Sunday morning and was contacted within an hour and told that one of their sales reps would be in touch with me first thing Monday. I was contacted by Randy first thing Monday about the Isata 3. He was very kind, respectful -- everything that I would hope for and none of the high pressure that I felt at other RV dealers. We worked together to find a price that I felt was fair. I told him I needed to sleep on it. Again, there was no pressure. Next day, I called back and left a deposit. I told Randy that I wouldn't be able to get there for a week or so based on personal commitments. No problem. I also was super clear that I wasn't going to sign any paperwork until I had an opportunity to fully inspect the RV. Randy was clear that that is the way it works -- only once I've had my full walkthrough would we move to signing final paperwork. My wife and I drove out from the Chicago suburbs. We arrived almost 2 hours later than our appointment. It was no problem. Huge thank you to Jamie for our walk-through. He was extremely patient with us as we fully walked through the RV. I must have asked him to repeat things three or four times -- never a hint of annoyance with us. He was super kind. We found a couple of minor things during the walkthrough. We asked that they fix them prior to us leaving. They did. Final paperwork with John was a breeze. Again, no high pressure. John offered us a variety of extended options. We declined and that was it. Again, I've had very different experiences with other dealerships that often use high pressure, scare tactics to sell extended warranties. Update to my review: We have our RV back. We did what we should have done in the first place. We went to the local Renegade Dealership in Southern CA. Explained our issues. They immediately scheduled a private 'class' with a very skilled technician who went over EVERYTHING. We were allowed to video the class, and learned so much. Yes, we had to pay for the class ($199) it was worth the money. We learned things we had no idea were on our RV. The salesman convinced us to secure the RV from being sold out from under us we needed to put a $1000 down payment on it to hold it and that it was FULLY 100% refundable. So we did. We told him that the funds we were hoping to receive was up in the air and he said that didn't matter it was 100% refundable. Well, the funds fell through, and we can't buy the RV. We called him and was told they would hold it for a year and see if things would change. We told him no we wanted it back now. He refused said he would take it to the manager. Well Mr. salesman and manager we recorded the conversation because I have a brain injury and am disabled so to remember I record things. And every time I asked if it was refundable in a different way the salesman said yes. Found a 2025 Thor 29J that we wanted to purchase. Have a friend that owns a 2016 and love that it's a Toy Haller. We camp and take our Harleys when we go. Had a trade and lived 3hrs from the dealer. Spoke with salesman and found what we thought would work. We were asked to put 1000.00 down and was never told we would lose our deposit if the deal didn't go through. Upon arriving and walking through the 2025 we noticed the garage was smaller, only 8ft. And would not properly hold my 2020 Harley Ultra that is 8.5 ft. We did not purchase and was told by salesman they were keeping our deposit because they paid a company to detail the brand new camper. Never signed any paperwork. My friends 2016 Thor has a larger garage which I was not aware the new units had a smaller garages. I was told I should of known the Harley wouldn't fit. Apparently the salesman shouldve know also. After leaving without the deposit, Ive done some reaearch on McKee Rv and there have been many complaints regarding deposits being kept. This is a shitty way of doing business, especially given the amount of RV dealers out there. Word to the wise do not do business with them and definitely dont give a deposit to anybody. read more

I debated between 2 and 3 stars. We recently drove from Montana to purchase a 2025 Cougar 25FKD. The walk-through was OK and we were told it would be a good rig for boondocking. This unit comes with a 12V fridge and a decent size solar panel on the roof. It was my fault that I did not check what battery was included, because the battery they provided(dealers provide batteries) was a joke at best. It was an 81 amp-hour lead-acid battery which can only be discharged to about 50% of capacity, meaning it only has about 40 usable amp-hours. We cannot even camp one day off-grid without the lights and fridge shutting down. I've ordered two 100 amp-hour lithium batteries at an additional cost of over $300 to replace the completely useless thing they provided. Now I have to dispose of a nearly new lead-acid battery. BEWARE! If you plan to purchase a trailer with a 12V fridge from these people, check what battery they provide and don't let them cheap out on it. read more

I bought a used 2017 Tiffin Class A motorhome from McKee RV. The House Batteries and Chassis Batteries were all bad. No one never check the water in the cheap batteries that were in the unit. They will not help me out! I asked about the batteries in the Tiffin when I bought the motorhome and they said the batteries were checked out. They also sold me a Battery Warranty for almost $1500. dollars but did not tell me the plan does not kick in untill 90 days later. I need new batteries NOW! They will not help me out! I had a contract with McKee RV. They sold my RV without any notice. I am trying to get my deposit back. Bad business practice.

Horrible experience, horrible dealer. Left a deposit on 09/29. McKee was working on my financing for weeks before they denied my loan. The coach was 160k, I was putting down 100k with 800 credit score. How did I not get approved?? Oh by the way, they called me to ask if they could sell the coach to someone else who was willing to pay more and that they would replace it the following month. Could that be the motivation for denial? After being rejected by McKee and the constant pressure to sell the rig to someone else I took the deal to my lender and got an approval within days and with 67% less money down (33k). We both agreed to move forward with the deal and signed a contract 10/26/21. I live in California so I had to get with my accountant and get my financials together. I was ready to submit with full docs by 10/29/21 which McKee emailed me and canceled the deal altogether. I called Brad Drahos who notified me that they sold the coach to someone else for more then he hung up on me. I called him and the dealership back 8 times and he kept hanging up on me. We traded our '19 Fleetwood Pace Arrow for a leftover but new '19 Fleetwood Discovery; because we needed more power. We are fulltime RVers traveling the country with no home. McKee is well aware of this. Our salesman was Charlie Wells who was superb and went above and beyond for us. We signed the necessary paperwork giving them Power of Attorney for them to obtain the title from the lien holder on the rig. SEVEN WEEKS later we were contacted by an employee of McKee that she couldn't get the title and suggested we drive to Florida to get it for her. I explained that 1) we were in PA currently, with NJ next. Then back to Decatur for warranty work on our new Rv. Followed by reservations in Arizona for the winter. And 2) we never had the title as there was a loan on the rig. The reply? We were threatened that we either go to Florida and get the title or she was going to contact the DOT of Iowa. I'm not sure why, as we did not "steal" our rig, but rather our loan company paid McKee for our rig, we signed all the necessary paperwork for the transfer of title on the Pace Arrow But I am appalled that a dealership would threaten a customer with some sort of "action" due to their own ineptitude. I can't recommend such a dealer to anyone. There's a glut of dealerships all over the country. Go anywhere but McKee. read more

***buyers that purchased my coach beware**** 2021 freedom discovery lxe 44b heritage painted white cabinets with enclave interior its been a very long 3 month process working with john mckee...... broken promises, failed miserably at delivering on our list of options that we put in writing....... after waiting 3 months, we had to cancel 2 separate trips due to the changed delivery date of our coach on 2 separate occasions. not to mention a flight that had to be canceled (no refund) last minute when they intentionally declined our credit for aproval, to sell our coach to a higher bid (in my own opinion). and, "if" im correct, and my coach was turned to a higher bid, know this..... i am referring to the 2021 freedom discovery lxe 44b with the white cabinets... i was contracted for $315,000. i hope whoever you are that got my coach didnt pay a penny over that $315,000. perfect credit enough cash in the bank to purchase the coach cash mortgage free on 2 homes 100k cash down payment and declined for financing at the last minute! the day that we were declined, i never even received a call from john mckee. received a text message from john mckee the following day saying, "sorry it didnt work out, ill credit your deposit back today". that was it! i will never ever do business with mckee rv again, and i will be sure to share my experience with every single person i know in the rv'ing community. shame on you john mckee!!! whoever owns this establishment, you should really look into my purchase, as i can almost guarantee that my coach was sold out from under me!!! read more

We typically would give businesses second chances and refrain from writing negative reviews, but our extremely negative experience with McKee RV has warranted a complete halt of future business with them and this very truthful review. * In 2022, we traded RVs with McKee RV for a 2022 motor home, expecting that a brand-new RV would be safe and comfortable. * We noticed shortly after purchasing that the flooring had been cut close to the entrance door. * Additionally, we notified the service department at McKee well before the end of the warranty period of ripples in the floor and black spots in various places on the flooring. (We were told that it likely was an adhesive problem.) * Following a 7-week trip South to see family and friends, in March 2023 we took the unit to McKee RV to check out and service the floor problem. We received very poor communication from the service department (despite our calls/messages to them) and after waiting 2 months, we picked our motor home up (with NO SERVICE completed) because we had a trip planned for the Memorial Day weekend. * Again, we took the motor home BACK to McKee and informed the service department a certain date that we would need it back. THE DAY BEFORE our pickup date, service had not even started on our RV! Much to our dismay, the service dept sent us pictures of black mold that was found under the floor of our RV. (The result of a manufacturing problem...no fault of ours.) * This news was NOT good as I have a lung condition known as "farmer's lung" and CANNOT be exposed to mold. Following our trip South, without knowing I had spent 2 months in a mold-infested RV, I had a flare up requiring me to see a pulmonologist and take an anti-rejection drug. * By now it was the middle of July and we missed the prime camping time for this year. We also had a trip planned with family flying in to meet us in Pennsylvania, leaving the last week in July. * Desperate to resolve this issue AND be able to salvage our trip to Pennsylvania, we talked to the McKee RV Sales Manager to see about a trade-in and reasonable purchase of a different (mold-free and comparable amenities) 2023 motor home. Unfortunately, a 'reasonable' deal could not be met as they wanted us to take a significant (not reasonable depreciation) loss. * After numerous calls and an email to the General Manager, we finally received a response. The texts were unprofessional and untruthful. He suggested 4 different options...the last of which that we could seek legal action, but "he didn't recommend that" (as if to insinuate - and potentially intimidate - that we would not be successful). * At this point, McKee RV had "flagged" both my and my wife's phone numbers, and would not take our calls. Talk about customer service! * NOTE: Desperate to be able to take our family trip to PA, we ended up purchasing a camper from Fedders Marine & RV in Le Mars, IA and could not have been more pleased with the service we received! Highly recommend!! * At this point we refused to have any more contact with McKee RV. We contacted the motor home manufacturer, and they were WONDERFUL! They picked our motor home up from McKee, took it to their factory in Indiana, completed all repairs, and paid for the return of our motorhome. By far the worst experience we have had. Took our 2013 Tuscany over for warranty work and some xtra we wanted done. The washing machine had a leak. Slide outs had to have new pumps and new jacks. The day and night shade over the windshield quit working. Cameras didn't work on the passenger side and the rear camera never worked. Going down the road the refrigerator doors wouldn't stay closed. The out of pocket expenses was over 2000.00. When we went over to pick it up was when the problem began. Started it and low def light comes on. Had to go to a gas station across the street to get def. It was full when we took it over. While filling the def hydraulic fluid is running out the storage drawer under the slide. When we opened the door hydraulic fluid filled the drawer. We took it back to the dealership and war broke out. Denied ever working on the slides. It was right on the bill where they did. The Service woman had gone out and took a picture on her phone to show the tech. Claimed it was a loose valve. Very funny since it never leaked before. She kept shoving her phone out for us to see. So the bottom line I don't know if my washer leaks, the shade works and what they did to the hydraulic pumps. Was told to leave it but DO NOT CALL OR TEXT until Monday morning and they thought that was funny. I didn't see the humor. We brought our motorhome home and never Ever will I take it back to them. Don't pay for the dealer prep charge! We were told by the salesman Randy that they spend 9 1/2 hours on dealer prep. Advertised as a like new 2022 (we purchased in 2023). Not washed until we asked after we got there, leaks found when we got home at entry door and under kitchen sink, water heater element out, water heater thermostat bad, bad window seal, wallboard falling off in closet, slide hits awning when extending/retracting, NO BRAKES! Yes, that's right, we were sent away with brakes that wouldn't function even at the highest gain on the truck. White knuckle driving for six hours home, then research and repair/adjust brakes so they would function. 9/12 hours of dealer prep? I don't think so. What a liability, sending someone away without working brakes! Email to salesman was ignored when asked for a refund of the dealer prep fee. read more

People buy local I knew that long ago as a kid but I went with the big company and lost. Brad and JIm were the best and boy we were in and out with there no hassel no pressure just good product at a fair price. Finance guy forget his name very fast accurate and no big push on stuff which is nice fast and zoom we were done. No pressure about coating or contracts. I brought my RV in for a roof treatment. The original estimate was $5500 about 40 hours. I asked to treat the roof and slides. After arriving on site, they insisted the slides were not part of the original estimate. I provided 95% of the material. When I went to pick up my RV, the final bill was about $8500 (over $1000/day). When I went to hook up, they had managed to almost destroy my goose neck/fifth wheel adaptor. They never bothered to tell me, nor assist me hooking up. We are enjoying the fifth wheel we purchased from McKee RV. Purchasing the RV went well but servicing the RV did not go as well as expected. When they were done working on the RV they placed it in an unsecured location and left all storage unlocked along with the main door unlocked. Another door was left wide open exposing it to the elements. We submitted our complaint to the service department about this. They said they would pass on our concerns to the management but as of today we have not received a reply from management. Our original complaint was sent 26 June 2024 and it was not even forwarded to their management until July 8th. It is now July 23rd with no reply. We had taken the RV in for its one year annual check up to take care of all problems with in the one year warranty. The work they did on it was very sloppy, they did not clean up after themselves leaving a lot of debris including glue on the floor and storage area. They even broke one of the closet doors while working in the closet and blamed it on rough riding instead. We had to fix the door ourselves because they were going to charge us to replace the door along with $200.00 for labor. They also did not fix everything that was wrong with the camper but they wrote it off stating it was fixed. We even had to pay $200.00 in labor for what they did. We have had a few repairs and maintaince work done at McKees. First was oil change. This was done timely and with courtesy 2nd repair was to replace slide seal. This took a bit longer than expected Work was ok, but the seal was not attached in some sections. I had to reattach in a couple places. Adhesive was not the best. Last trip was to replace ac, fix windshiwld wiper, and put cap back on front tire they removed previously. Ac was replaced. Cap was never replaxed. Wipers were not fixed. In fact we drove back on our way home. Technician did not know how to fix. We went into a auto store across from mckeees who showed mckee tech how to replace wiper. Lastly, we bought tow dolly from mckees. We filmed the how to with tech. He said he had only worked there a short time. He made several mistakes in showing us how to hook up tow dolly. I have video i can share with anyone who would like to see. Its on Youtube. Beware of their service. They forget what you ask them to do, fail to do the work, and staff is pretty clueless. Cant even print off an invoice sometimes. Just be very cautious. read more
