Came after seeing a video that sells they sell live seafood at an unbeatable price. After going to 99 ranch religiously, I thought this might be a nice change of pace. The crawfish and blue crabs were undeniably cheaper than other Asian super markets so I was pleasantly happy! However, this seems to be an older market so the isles are very small and crammed. It is also a little hard to navigate as the isle signs aren't very descriptive. It also does smell like a seafood market so come prepared. I would definitely come here to buy seafood in bulk! This rating is strictly regarding my most recent purchase here for the "live" oysters... First and foremost, the horrible stench this place exudes should have been a clear indication to refrain from making my purchases but the stench is unfortunately the norm when it comes to McKee Seafood Supermarket. I didn't really think twice. The seafood/shellfish department is jam packed with items that other supermarkets don't always carry, so I always gravitate here. That particular day, the oysters looked a bit question but I made sure to take my time and hand pick each one. I made sure to work around the majority of dead ones and only walked away with 11 pieces. In hindsight, I'm glad I settled with 11 because more money could have been wasted!! At $1.50 a pop, these aren't necessarily cheap. Fast forward to throwing these on the grill... The extra fishy smell was undeniable. My family kept questioning the strong, pungent scent but with the oysters still being closed shelled and then slowly opening as we cooked each piece on the grill, I had promising hopes. WELL I THOUGHT WRONG!!! The first oyster was good- it tasted how it should. The second one was putridly disgusting!! We immediately made the decision to throw them all out! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE "LIVE" OYSTERS HERE. Unless you like living life on the edge and enjoy gambling with food poison, McKee Supermarket is the right spot for you. All of the store is really clean and organized food they sell is all good and the service is amazing.

I thought this place would be better, but no. I don't know how they even passed the health inspection ngl. I'm always scared to buy any dairy products from here or even seafood. Terrible Customer Service at the Seafood Counter The staff at the fish/seafood department are completely unhelpful and rude. I stood there clearly waiting for assistance, even asked for help--twice--and was totally ignored. No acknowledgment, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. Just blank stares and then walking away. My mom went to buy frozen squid, only to find out it was a bad squid that was being sold. It was slimy and falling apart. We bought the squid 4/15/25 in the morning. My mom tried to get a refund today 4/16/25 in the morning and was being tossed around different people who refused to give a refund for a bad squid they sold. They told her to wait for the manager and come back. She works and doesn't get home until 7 pm. They told her, "you don't work 10 hours so you should have time to come back and ask for a refund then.". That is not something they should say to a customer that had always shopped there. The squid was $18, we gave the receipt, and video proof of the bad squid. They refused to say whether or not they will refund her. They told her to call someone , so she called. They said they wanted proof. Again, she gave the physical receipt and video of the bad squid. They said it's not proof at all. My mom ask if they will refund or not. And they said no because there's no proof. She talked to three workers. The person she called refused to give her name. Fine, but they have no right to tell my mom that she should have free time and wait for the manager to give her a refund. The squid was inedible. It shouldn't have been sold in the first place. $18 for a bad slimy squid only to be told no proof. read more

My dad used his EBT card here and it got skimmed - the people took all the money from his account for two months and he was unable to recover the amount. I saw a video posted online as well that showed someone pulling the skimming device off the card reader around the same time. Came to check the price on their crab and it's the cheapest I've found for live crab. $6.99/lb. They had some dead ones on ice for 4.99/lbs. store had long lines and the enter door only open for those coming in so I had to cut in front of some people in line just to get out. Will definitely come back for my fresh live crab. Great price for crab as well as a variety of other seafoods. Deducting stars for cleanliness as crowded lines that back into the aisle. It's a solid fresh seafood market with good selections. Their bag of oysters and Manila clams are priced well. Seabass here was also fresh and reasonably priced. The seafood section is busy during weekends. You will have to wait to get your seafood cleaned so have patience. I just left this market an hour ago or so and as much as I think my star would of been just a 2 I'm going to give it an extra star for having it open and especially it's next to my house during this pandemic. I know it's already tough having people at the store being open and risking their own lives. But one thing I want to point out, since the market is not as crowded like it's normally is during this time, it would be nice to just grab an item and not worry if the item is moldy or rotten or just plain bad. Since we are advice to just grab and take the items we need so we can leave the store quickly. I came home and started to put things away and I noticed some of the veggies I got are a bit bad already and a package of hotdogs was moldy and the color is not what it should be. All we ask is please have the workers look at all the products and not sell us rotten or moldy food. We're also trying to get out of your way and make sure you don't get sick. My favorite market to buy seafood! I pretty much only come here for crawfish or Dungeness crab, and the prices vary depending what season/time of the year it is, but it is usually very reasonable. When it's in season, I can always depend on this market to have crawfish! I live in San Francisco, and I have yet to find a market that sells crawfish around me. I would have to drive to San Mateo to find some, but even then it's a 50-50. This place is my holy grail for seafood. The reason why I love this market so much is because of their service. Unlike many other markets, the cashiers and workers in the seafood department are always very kind and smile. I believe this is the first market I've ever called to ask for crawfish without having to explain what a crawfish is or what it looks like. The employee who picked up the phone understood what I was talking about and knew the price per pound without putting me on hold or transferring me to any department. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to call a market, be transferred to a department but eventually be hung up on, or have to explain what a crawfish is just to show up and they have none or think I'm talking about catfish/lobster. You might ask: why would a vegetarian go to a seafood market? A good secret is that most have very cheap and fresh vegetables. This market was no exception. I found the produce was much better quality than Target, Walmart or Safeway or other big store chains near San Jose. I found the store was also fairly clean in contrast to some of the other reviews posted. I enjoyed the variety of vegetables (I counted six different kinds of mushrooms alone, for example) and plenty of vegan and vegetarian substitutes available at this market. I was able to find my staple items of imitation oyster sauce (made out of a mushroom sauce) and vegetarian hoisin sauce. They also carried a vegetarian kimchi which is generally very expensive at Safeway or Whole Foods for a fraction of the price! Finally, there was also a variety of different tofu options, which is great for someone like me who likes having options. During a time of crisis this place has the audacity to price gouge on most of their products that they sell here. They took advantage of people in need and jack up the price by almost half on soy sauce amongst other things in their store. I remember their small bottle of soy sauce used to be sold for $2.99 and now selling for $5.49, their propane used to sell for $14 now selling for $18 their case of water bottles selling for $7+ for 24 pack. Brought the fishes home and its stunk. So disappointed that they had to sell rotten fishes to their customers despite their Viet Channel advertisment of selling fresh seafood. Surely, this is not right!! I will never return there to buy their seafood again! This place is 1 mile away from my house so I always go here, too lazy for other options. Pro: their seafood options are great. They have live fishes, crabs, crawfishs, lobsters, snails,... Depend on each season, the price will be vary. However, their crabs are always onsale 4-5$/lb around January one or twice, crawfish 3-4$ around Jun and Aug. Con: their vegetables are not fresh most of the time. Because they dont have many customers, vegetables are left there for days. They should mark the price lower so the old ones can be gone and put more fresh ones or at least to take risk by throwing them and put fresh things to get more customers. Also, the whole supermarket smells little fishy. For customer service, all the ladies there are okay. Especially there is a young lady with colored hair, she is really nice and always helpful. I hope they can improve their veggie section so more people can come and we can have fresh vegetables every day. read more
