Amazing venue for my 4 year old. He loves the choices with different play areas. He also likes to go outside and loves the water and fishing. Only issue is parents have to pay the same amount as the kids which is ridiculous it should be half the cost since the parents are just there to watch the kids. Also I put back all the items my son plays with. Also one of the few businesses that does not provide any discounts for military personnel. I'm here on Friday 7/17/26 with my two grandkids my wife and I. A lot of the items in the bank are missing. A lot of the items in the kids clinic are missing. A lot of items for the emergencies services. Ambulance don't work such as the best have no Velcro and no clips. I don't see any help anywhere around with the exception of one young man that was in the outside area. This place is really fallen downhill since the last time I was here which was about six months ago. It's pretty trashy. From what you pay for. But we'll see one thing kids don't care. read more

Paid $10 a person. Kids and adults are the same price which makes no sense. We came about 10am and it was nice for 5 minutes until the field trips arrived. The places was packed with loud, screaming children, running everywhere. It was extremely overwhelming. My 4yr and 2yr old were pushed and ran into multiple times. After 12:00 sometime the schools finally left and it was quiet again. We finally got to really explore the museum. I can't give it more stars because unfortunately our experience was overwhelming and stressful. read more

I took my boys to this museum while we were traveling to South Texas, and I wish I had planned our visit better. They could have easily spent the whole day there if we had the time. This museum is truly wonderful; it's not just a single space but features a variety of areas that promote creative play and incorporate STEM activities. I love the intimate size of the McKenna that if you have a group of kids, you can sit centrally and see all the main area of play so that you don't all have to be in one area at a time. Sons favorite are the star tunnel and the outdoor water play. This time my 5 month old enjoyed stretching in the tot zone. We took home three art creations from our time in the art zone. The best of the best! When we lived in New Braunfels we didn't have kids, so this visit was special. Everyone is so kind. The inside area has a toddler spot, space, grocery store, bank and more. The outside recently got a face lift and it looks amazing. New water table, new music features, Another thing I love is during the school year they post on Facebook a week at a glance as far as what to expect for field trips! This is great for 10 and under children. The building is easily marked with plenty of parking out front. They have a space shift to walk through, an arts and craft room, bat cave, play grocery store, mini indoor playground, live fish, water play outside, playground outside, gift shop and a cafe. My kids enjoyed growing up and exploring the different centers. The arts and crafts and space center had been a kid's favorite. I do wish they would add on centers for older kids like the is San Antonio Doseum. The water play outside is great during the hot summer months. There is also a canopy above to stay shaded. The price for admission is fair and there are many items to pick from the gift shop as a souvenir. After playing all day there is a cafe at the other end of the museum to buy a drink or quick snack. It wasn't busy the days we went and would highly recommend it if your children are age 10 and below. read more

This is such an exciting place to take the kids on a warm sunny day. I had a great time bringing the kids here because there was so much to do and many kids can interact with each other. Parking is open and the place is very large. They even have a restaurant in the museum! Purchase your tickets online and Adults and children under the age of 11 months cost $7.50. It would be nice if adults didn't have to pay since this is a museum that 100% for kids. Overall it's wonderful!! There are numerous stations such as a grocery store, spaceship, coloring and painting room, kitchen, a hospital, campfire theme space indoors. Then outdoors had water activities and many climbing stations as well. We were there for 3 hours and the kids and I had too much fun! This is the place for bday parties for kids ages 3-7 in my opinion. If I'm ever in the area with kids I'd take them here! Great museum and experience!! read more

Such a wonderful place for kids. Smaller than I expected but the perfect size for kids under 5. I did see older kids there, however, I have a little under 2 so that's my limited perspective. Our little was a tad too short still for some things like the grocery store but still enjoyed walking around. The kitchen, ER center, NASA space section, and the air tubes were a hit. They did a cute 'Toddler Tuesday' event where the littles made bunny bait. Mine focused on eating it all but hey, whatever makes them happy. The space walk is pitch black so beware if any littles are grappling with the dark, but a very cool experience. The campfire area is adorable and the outdoor play is a nice touch with a massive water table. Having a Tot spot was great, tough when kids over 3 enter but most parents are on top of their kids there. Our little had a blast at every turn, mainly wanting to play in the little kitchen/house corner. There were two field trips so it was more crowded than normal for a Tuesday morning but to be expected. Once those kids cleared out it was so nice to have it all to ourselves. We definitely want to go back, not sure if the adults had more fun or the kid but willing to reevaluate with another trip. No discounts on tickets for any age, no senior discounts for grandparents. This place is brilliant! Only $7 to enter for kids and adults and it's such a good time. You can come and go within a day, cafe and bathrooms on site. The staff is all very helpful, loves children, and does a great job keeping eyes on all the kiddies. Good for up to age, maybe 8? But I had fun and I am in my 30s. Haha. There are different sections of interactive children's activities. Water play area, building blocks, rock climbing wall, playground, house, grocery, bank, train sets, ranch, campfire, spaceship, medical area, bat cave, art area, and air stream room. We love the McKenna children's soo much! I've been taking my kids here since 2011 or 12. It's the perfect spot for kids aged 5/6 and younger. Even my 4 month old who can only do tummy time enjoyed the soft tot area. My toddler loved everything and couldn't have been more excited to be there. I wish there was a location in SA because I love it so much more than the doseum. There was staff all over constantly watching kids, cleaning up for the next kids to play; the lady at the front desk was SOOOO friendly to us and also kind to our kids. The family bathroom was clean, well stocked, they need another one of those!! It's perfect for those of us who have a stroller , several kids who need to use the potty but also have a changing table. There were new things in the play areas that weren't there a few years back and everything was just so clean , I'm very impressed at how well they've maintained the place & kept admission low. read more

Each themed play area is well thought out, well made and super cute. Our favorites were the grocery store, bank and camper set. The costumes were also super fun. I was impressed with how often the start went through and picked up the areas to keep them clean and organized. The outdoor area with water tables was impressive, lots of ways to engage and explore with water. Well shaded too. $7.50 per person and closed on Sundays. It's a fun place for 2-3 hours. It's not too big or expensive where you feel the need to spend an entire day there. They have quite a few different stations with some of the typical stuff. Astro stuff, medicine stuff, block trains, play kitchen etc. They also had an outside area with water stuff and a mini play area. I'd recommend this for kids under 7. Any older and they will be bored out of their mind. It's good for the occasional visit, but couldn't see it being with $7.50/per person per visit for frequent visits. This spot is a hidden gem! It's got indoor and outdoor attractions, an art studio where kids can freely paint, make a designated craft or build a flying machine for the air tube just outside the art area. My kids are 6&4 and absolutely loved it. A mini grocery store, camping area, giant blocks outside and a playground are just a few of the things I recall.
