Three times their own app failed. QR-based phone ordering a theater is horrible. Redeemed one code for a free popcorn, but the food never came. I had a digital receipt but it apparently never was received by the employees with this horrible system. Was given two free popcorn codes because of the issue. When I tried to redeem those codes, they failed using the same system. At this point I give up on this theater. It was fine when you pressed a button to get service, but ever since they switched to using QR-based phone ordering it has gotten worse. Not to mention that every now and then a movie that has subtitles or captions will get cut off like it did during predator badlands so you just don't know what's going on. You're better off either seeing a movie at home or driving up to South Austin to see a movie at Cinemark, Regal, or even AMC. read more

A relaxing place to watch a movie. I love that the theaters are smaller--it feels more intimate and less crowded. I also like being able to order food and drinks. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and fries. The fried chicken sandwich was tasty albeit a little messy, as it comes with slaw on it, but it's also the way I like it and the fries were crispy and fresh. The reclining seats are comfortable. I'm impressed with EVO's manager, Nick, who responded well to a Christmas Day theatre-full of disappointed patrons during the movie, "David". Halfway through the movie, the colors "glitched" with unpleasant shades of pink and grey. Nick and team attempted to reset the film, but to no avail, so the movie continued in that condition. But Nick was cheerfully ready with a remedy, as he personally greeted each of us at the exit door with an apology, EVO passes, and refund. I'm appreciative of management and EVO who treat their patrons like they would want their own family to be treated. You gained my trust and faith! read more

I came to watch a movie, not sit inside a retired cowboy boot. The seats had that strong old leather smell mixed with years of trapped sweat and regret. Every time I leaned back, it felt like the chair exhaled directly at me. For the price of tickets and snacks, I expected comfort -- not seating that smells like a vintage leather couch rescued from someone's damp garage. This is a great spot to hang for college students, etc. ***Service: The service was great. We went to the movies and bought our ticket ahead of time. This made it a breeze to check in. However, we saw that there are $5.00 Tuesdays... but with restrictions of course... Not new movies, etc. ***Theatre: The Theatre was super cute. There is truly not a bad seat in the house. The seats are sooooo comfy and they have an electric recline. It reclines back pretty far. I will admit that the theatre was nice, but it was extremely louuuuud. While I like the theming and overall vibe they are trying to establish, it looks like a post-Covid world has prevented them from maintaining the atmosphere due to apathetic staffing. The floors at the bar are sticky, as are the tables. The theaters are small, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it feels like they aren't taken care of. This was our first time coming here and were a little hesitant because of the reviews. I'm glad we were proven wrong. The moment we stepped foot on the facility we received amazing customer service. The doors were opened for us and we were greeted right away. My husband used a different app to get the tickets and it didn't show the partitions for the seats. Our server got us squared away and changed our seats for us. The food we ordered came out right away, fresh and yummy. This is on a Friday too! I generally love this place for a date night. We've gone to see movies that we didn't even care so much to see just to eat the delicious food. I was bummed last night though that they changed their menu to be what I thought was a little more generic. Went to purchase movie tickets today for a future showing. Upon entering the building, a teenager was pushing himself through my door opening. Since I am disabled with prosthetic legs, I protected myself by asking the teenager to open his own door. An employee was behind me and stated I didn't have to be rude. Shocked by his actions, which did not concern him, I told him he should not smoke at the entrance to a public place and it was against city ordinance. This jackass told me to "fuck off" held up his two middle fingers and walked to the back. This says alot about a place that employs immature jackasses. read more

It feels like it's been ages since I have been to Evo! We last went here when it was still called The Spot. I will say the seats are in good shape and they have nice recliners...but the service is a bit odd. You place an order using the QR code but have no way to flag the staff down if you need any additional assistance like to follow up with an order or to ask for more napkins. There is a tip portion but it seems like it's just for the runner that brings the food and there is no follow up assistance. My jalapeño margarita was delicious but I don't think it had a good ratio of alcohol (seemed like it wasn't there). The bathrooms were clean which was great! But many surfaces were sticky and the carpets can probably use some shampoo and cleaning. It has a slight mildew smell around the hallway down to the theater 3 area. Overall the prices for food, drinks, and tickets are good for what you get. I think if they added the follow up service (call button) it would land them at a 4 out of 5 for me. read more

The quality of service and cleanliness has degraded significantly. They've removed the service buttons from the theater seats, so all you have are runners. I ordered a sundae one night and they brought me a plastic fork, but we couldn't ask our server for a spoon. Also, they no longer offer free water when you're ordering other food and drinks, but want to charge $4 for a bottle of water. The condition of the seats is poor and the bathroom wasn't clean. I think we'll be driving into Austin for a nicer venue from now on. read more

Don't trust themNot to mention violation of labor laws back in August, removing most of that evidence by firing people, removing security to save a buck while putting the staff in danger, then appearently reducing pay once you turn 18 without notification. I'm personally not going to get hung up about the companies crappy unethical leadership style, however the staff and human aspect of this all does affect people's lives and should be noted publicly so mistakes don't happen again with that space. read more

Much Worse than Before This is the theater closest to my place and we have been going to it since it opened. I have been here 20+ times. I'm sad to report that it has become much worse over the past year or so. If you are expecting an Alamo Draft House experience, this isn't even close. Ordering from your seat is now via Toasttab. You must pay and tip in advance. Servers are not motivated to engage or deliver good service. The pricy food is just plain bad. Case in point: Just saw a movie tonight with my wife. Her recliner didn't work, The $11 popcorn tasted awful (weird oily taste). We sent it back. The second popcorn was just as bad. They said they would give us credit but did not. The blackened shrimp tacos I ordered were just as bad (photo attached). $6.25 for a box of M&M that would cost $1 anywhere else. Beer was good, but also pricier than most bars. Can't recommend this theater. Perhaps OK for films, but definitely don't eat there. read more

I go to the movies A LOT. I'm probably at an EVO theater ~75% of that time. (I've spent $2k at EVO in the past 18 months according to Chase.) I've been going to this theater constantly since it opened as The Spot, supported them through covid shutdowns with home delivery, etc. I've been impressed watching Mitch Roberts' concept shake things up, his aggressive expansion, and I've been to nearly all of the EVOs at this point. Considering that perspective, It's a complete shame what this location has become. The special feeling is gone. Whoever makes the decisions there is obviously far from what went into its launch. I could detail the problems, but if they don't see them at this point, it doesn't matter. Here's hoping theres a new disruptor in a few years. read more

Our team had a company event recently at EVO Springtown. We signed up for a party package that included bowling, games, and platters of food. The process of booking was seamless and the food was delicious, but a few hiccups occurred that were out of their control. Shalie, our event coordinator, did an amazing job in making sure we were taken care of. What a reputable company that stands behind their brand. Thanks again for turning a wrong into a right. Awesome ! As always ! Saw incredibles 2 with my mom and had awesome seating on the right side ( no attendants past by, muahahaha.) We ordered waters , fried pickles , and then a meat lovers pizza along with chicken strips & sweet potato fries . Both meals ( 10$ or under) were huge, delicious , and filling ! Everything and more you can expect from a movie theatre dinner . Fried pickles are always yummy, but sometimes slightly a little too greasy. Last night we went to see Argylle at EVO . What I and the others enjoy, is the fact we can buy our tickets ahead of time and get the seats of our choice. We arrive earlier to order EVO's food. They really do have some of the best fresh food around. I recommend the chicken fingers ( 3 ) to an order. They are the largest and best I have ever had. Group of work friends decided to check this place out. Great place to see a movie. The place was clean. Well that's all the positives. Negatives, too many to list. Best indicator of how bad this place is? The bar ran out of glasses and couldn't serve my friend a drink because they literally ran out of clean glasses. Nope not some lame excuse because they were 'cut off'. This is after waiting literally 15 minutes for the two bartenders to serve the 7 other people at the bar. One of the bartenders was reading the recipe book for every drink he made, lol. Bowling lane kept breaking. Pool tables are in a spot with no room to actually shoot pool without cue stick hitting things. If you want to see a movie, great place. If you want to do anything else at this place.......run!! Come for the games and movies-- stay for the service! Jared (if I recall correctly) is the night manager and he's about the coolest guy ever. One time the claw machine took our points and he made it right for us. We play pool there pretty often, and the staff are busy and helpful. We have been a huge fan of The Spot in San Marcos since it opened and have always had a great experience. The food - is good given it's a movie theater. We get the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread, bottomless Popcorn, shakes.. kids love the cheese pizza. Easy to eat while watching a movie! The Drinks - cold beer & the rambler and we are set for a good time! The seats - very comfortable with recliner and a tray for your food I would give 5 stars but this last time we went, the theater wasn't cleaned. We arrived 10min before the movie, went to our assigned seats and there was drinks in our seats, looks like something was spilled on the chair. Just disappointing. I was disappointed this was my first time to EVO and all I can say is they are a wanna be Alamo Draft house. No servers. Had to order thru our phones. The season I gave it 2 stars was because the staff is so nice and friendly and they are doing their best to keep this place going. More corp cut backs let go of the servers. For all the corporate sheen these EVO places seem to have, I expected a streamlined experience. Instead, we spent most of our time--time I'd paid for at the rate of $38 hourly for bowling--waiting. There are 8 lanes for bowling. They're not your classic style lanes (e.g., no chairs, bar height tables and stools make it awkward to change your shoes, not enough selection of balls). The food (shrimp tacos for $14 and chips & queso for $9) tasted good, but they left out the salsa that was supposed to come with the tacos and didn't serve very much queso. We tried to go back to the bar to ask for the salsa but the wait was so long and we didn't want to lose more time on our lane. The lane kept breaking (wouldn't return balls) and we had to flag down the attendant at least 3 times to fix jt. He was super helpful, and eventually offered to switch us to a different lane. When that lane also broke, we decided to leave. They refunded us our money for the 2nd hour of bowling which was great. The bar service was very slow. The menu said they had a seasonal selection of Austin Beerworks but when my husband asked what it was, the bartender said they only have Austin Eastciders Blood Orange. That's a completely different brewery but whatever. I then asked for the Horseshoe Pilsner, the only Pilsner on the menu and she walked around the bar to look for it. Turns out they didn't have that one so I asked if they had another Pilsner. She said they didn't so I chose a draft I could see but she said they were out of that one. "Geez, I'm really striking out here." She agreed, but didn't offer up anything else so I picked the Light Circus Hazy IPA. Later, after 2 or so beers and getting annoyed on the broken lanes, I waited at least 10 minutes to close my tab and they weren't busy. I watched the bartenders load glasses into fridges instead of making eye contact with me. I was sitting at the corner of the bar. After my husband had dealt with the lane refund he came over and joined me. We still got passed over so I moved to the service part of the bar where servers come up, and the bartenders paid attention to me right away. So go to that spot of the bar if you don't want to be ignored. Better yet, find somewhere else to spend your money. This broke-down pseudo-corporate hangout ain't it. read more

Tonight my family and I were sandwiched between two parties that talked the whole movie. I called one of them out on it and they kept talking. I talked to my server and EVO has no "no talking/no texting/keep screens dark" policy. Good luck enjoying a movie in this place in peace. The food was pretty good and our server was great.
