As we consider a move up-river, we've been spending more time perusing the small communities of McKenzie Bridge and Blue River. Much to our delight, a new-to-us coffee shop is now open serving lattes, sandwiches, and other deli snacks most days from 8:30 to 2:30, or so. The two ladies (proprietors?) who helped us are gracious hosts, and pull a mean cup of espresso. While we waited on our sandwich order, we perused the large gift shop that included everything from country-themed relics my mom would love, to wonderful photographs of old McKenzie River land and early rock stars. The outdoor seating is wonderful on a sunny day, even with the highway noise. Make sure to put the Station on your list of good snack joints up the river. read more

Thank heavens they were there with their smiles and hot soups and sandwiches and coffee. The hot pastrami sandwich was excellent. It was just what we needed on those rainy days. There was an assortment of antiques and art and trinkets that added interest to the indoor dining area. Best hidden restaurant on hwy 126. I had the bleu burger. Best hamburger ever! My husband had their club sandwich. Great food with specials during the week and breakfast on the weekends. Wonderful, comfortable, eclectic atmosphere. Full bar too. read more

The staff at this place are very friendly and helpful much like visiting a relative who is really happy to see you. The coffee shop and sandwich selection for lunch was an excellent choice. Menu included a number of very healthy items, the veggie sandwich was especially good. The staff didn't mind talking to me about what was in the food and it was very much appreciated. There certainly are a lot of things to look at in the dining area. The seating inside is in an antique and collectables gallery of sorts. It felt like being in that aunt or uncle's house for a luncheon. Outside seating was available too. Minor suggestion to the owners: it was a but confusing to find the front door with the outdoor displays, but i'm glad i found my way in. Excellent little cafe to stop by. read more

Good food, stunningly poor service: Stopped in for a sandwich. The Club sandwich was actually good, if expensive at $11.00. The service was appalling. All staff seemed confused, untrained, and disinterested. The young man waiting tables and running the register had no idea how to perform either job. The older women, sometimes serving, sometimes taking orders, came off as genuinely annoyed that anyone wanted to spend money there. She was cold, terse, and rude. And those were her good points. Worth the trip, every single time! I live about an hour away and discovered this amazing place last year while attending a wedding up river. I go back about once a month and they never disappoint. There are often locals stopping in to chat with the owners and staff, the food is always delicious and most of it is homemade. I often get a cheeseburger or sandwich and I asked how the burgers were made...when I found out they ground the meats and hand prepared them, I knew it would be worth waiting for!! And they are! They even have homemade desserts which are outstanding! When you go to a town like McKenzie Bridge, life moves slow, people like to chat and you have the ability to just be in the moment. That's one of our favorite aspects of the restaurant...and the cocktails are pretty enticing, too ;) read more

AWESOME food! My husband and I had lunch here while camping nearby. They smoke all of their own meat, and we had a hard time making a choice. We finally settled on a Tri Tip Dip and Reuben, with regular fries, and sweet potato fries. The Dip came with jus, and a horseradish dip. Everything was fantastic - if we had been staying longer, we would have gone back again this trip; but will definitely return next time we are on that side of the mountains. My husband and I stopped by for a meal to-go while we enjoyed the beautiful McKenzie River area. The gal working the walk up window was very sweet. They had a special sandwich, which had a special smoked Gouda sauce, and the chef made an exception and let me get a burger with the sauce on it! The burger was massive and delicious (they grind and smoke meats in house) and the fries were thin and crispy just like I like 'em! My husband got a fantastic French dip with the house smoked tri-tip and super yummy homemade potato salad. The food was very reasonably priced for the quality. I read someone suggested the brisket burger here...I did...it was truly amazing! I've traveled the country for 35 years on business and pleasure and have had my share of good burgers...a few great ones. They have nailed it with the brisket burger! One of the best ever! We were just passing through, feeling hungry, and wondering if there'd be a place to eat. And there was McKenzie Station Pub! It's a funny little place, filled with all kinds of knick knacks, art, and stuff, but it was very comfortable and welcoming. And the food? Fabulous! We had turkey sandwiches, custom-made with extras we wanted, and thin shaved turkey - real turkey. They were sooooo delicious. We also had a side of potato salad, which was superb. Awesome lunch and coffee. I went there once each of the three days I was staying in the area. They have a full bar and serve dinner, so you can really get whatever you want. I had potato leek soup that was killer and a lemon drop martini that was really really good - and I'm pretty picky when it comes to my lemon drops! Fast Forward 4 years Most of the curios are gone - replaced with a full service bar (yea) and more tables plus TV. Food is even better - much of it is local, organic . Meats are awesome including bacon and tritip( from specialty shop in Eugene ) I saw someone call the club sandwich expensive - it's a bargain as more than one can eat unless you are a logger or similar . Over the past 10 days I have had multiple breakfasts lunches and dinners there are all were very good. Last night's specials included a bowl of chili which was fantastic and very inexpensive . Hamburger is great Nice selection of wines and very affordable. As others have mentioned service can be a bit of a challenge. It is indigenous to the area with a dormant winter season and a very busy but diverse and busy summer. There's also great competition for summer help with other retail, construction, hospitality, rafting , fishing and such. Also the clientele runs from owners of million dollar vacation homes to students on a very tight budget . If you are in hurry ask for a menu as you are seated This is not the place to stop for a very quick meal ( other than coffee and baked goods) but rather a place to enjoy good food and wine in a great atmosphere. Best place to get food if you're in McKenzie Bridge. Everything on the menu is good, but the burgers are especially good. The wait staff is very friendly. The only downside is that it can get pretty warm inside during hot days, but they do have outside seating. read more

Cyndy the owner is an absolute doll! She stayed open 1/2 hour past closing while I drove; just so she could fill my very touchy stomach with scrambled eggs and cheese even tho breakfast hours were well over! She didn't need to do this for a complete stranger & it surely it wasn't a big order and yet; she was so friendly and helpful and I was so so very hungry and no one else along the highway would break their strict rules of breakfast being over! I returned the next day before closing but after breakfast and again she cooked me my scrambled eggs & cheese that taste better than any I have ever had because she uses pure virgin coconut oil to cook with! Bless your heart Cyndy for being so thoughtful and helpful when someone really needed it! I loved the little gift shop too, filled some Christmas stockings! Fell in here by chance our first night in town before a big mountain bike ride. Burgers, brisket, and a full bar! Don't let the "espresso" name mislead you. It's a serious restaurant. Rudest server I've EVER encountered. 7 in our party, middle of the day on a Saturday. No one else at any of the tables. Just a couple guys at the bar watching a game. Took her almost 15 minutes to come and bring us menus and place settings. My husband actually got up to check to see if the dining area was even open, because we thought maybe we'd made an error about the hours. After aforementioned delay, she came to take our drink order and I asked for coffee. Not a freaking latte or espresso, a plain cup of coffee. Her reply: "well, I'll have to make a fresh pot...." like she was hoping I'd say, oh, don't bother I'll have water. I said "thank you, that's nice." We placed our orders; most of us were having lunch fare, burgers etc. I'm the only one who ordered coffee, and I'm the only one who was struck down with the most heinous case of diarrhea 30 minutes after leaving this establishment, that I almost missed my brothers wedding that afternoon!! Not saying that she did something to my coffee, but it does make one wonder. The burgers and fries were delicious, as was my side salad. So if you can get someone to seat you, not poison you, and actually act like they want to be at work and serving the public, then more power to you: eat here. Otherwise, take your chances on this place, or better yet, skip it and go elsewhere. read more

His more than likely mom/grandma listened to my view but sure didn't appologize for his inappropriate comment. A simple appology would have gone a long way. WE stopped here for lunch on our way over to Bend. I had the Brisket Sandwich, which literally melted in your mouth. And my wife had the Roast Beef Sandwich, which was equally delicious. The potato salad was top notch also. This restaurant is so homey, and they also serve specialty coffees, and a full bar. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I have been trying to get the word out. The chef even came out to see how our food was. Very friendly, and great service !!!!!!
